“Master.”
Purple Melody Sage was feeling rather vexed by a large group of minor demons when he saw his ever-thoughtful disciple, Yun Qingxue, approaching with a massive cake in hand.
At the sight of the cake, his frustration instantly dissipated, and a peculiar thought suddenly crossed his mind.
He no longer wanted Qingxue to remain just his disciple—perhaps he could find a way to make her his daughter instead!
He could already imagine the constipated look on Yun Ye’s face if Qingxue were to call him “Father.” How utterly satisfying that would be!
“Master?”
Yun Qingxue approached with the cake but noticed Purple Melody Sage seemed momentarily lost in thought.
“Oh!” Purple Melody Sage snapped back to attention and responded, eyeing the cake Yun Qingxue had brought. He feigned ignorance and asked, “Qingxue, you’re up so early. What’s this…?”
“Your disciple made a cake for you, Master,” Yun Qingxue replied with a smile.
Purple Melody Sage’s eyes lit up, and he couldn’t help but praise, “What a good daughter.”
Yun Qingxue chuckled again. “The medicine you brought back for me yesterday worked wonders. Thank you, Master.”
“Silly child, no need for formalities with your master!” Purple Melody Sage laughed as he reached out to take the cake from her.
“Master… what are you doing so early in the morning?” Yun Qingxue glanced at the minor demons surrounding him, curiosity evident in her voice.
“Ah… I was just guiding your junior brothers and sisters,” Purple Melody Sage replied casually between bites of cake.
Just then, an elegant and graceful woman stepped out from the crowd of minor demons.
She walked straight toward Yun Qingxue and bowed gracefully. “Mei Wu pays her respects to Senior Sister.”
Yun Qingxue did have some recollection of this woman.
Not for any particular reason—simply because she had been the most beautiful among the many minor demons who had come to seek apprenticeship.
“No need for such formalities, Junior Sister,” Yun Qingxue quickly returned the courtesy.
Mei Wu smiled sweetly and said, “Senior Sister, your timing is impeccable. Master has been sparring with each of us to offer guidance!”
Yun Qingxue smiled again. “That’s wonderful. Master’s skills are renowned far and wide. With his personal guidance, all of you junior brothers and sisters must study diligently!”
“Of course!” the minor demons chorused in agreement.
Mei Wu gave a gentle smile. “Though I admit my skills are lacking, I do have a heart eager to improve. Master has been guiding us for quite some time now and surely deserves a break. So, I boldly ask… if Senior Sister might spare a moment to teach me!”
Yun Qingxue raised an eyebrow slightly. After all this polite talk, it turned out this junior sister wanted to challenge her!
“Very well,” Yun Qingxue replied with a faint smile, accepting the challenge.
“Then, I ask for Senior Sister’s guidance!” Mei Wu gave a charming smile before swiftly launching a full-force attack at Yun Qingxue.
Purple Melody Sage, still eating his cake, frowned slightly.
Mei Wu’s strength was undoubtedly at the early stage of a Great Demon!
Who would have thought that among the new batch of minor demons he’d recruited to Luo Yun Mountain, there’d be one with such formidable power?
Of course, strength was a good thing—unless she wasn’t truly aligned with them and had ulterior motives for seeking apprenticeship…
That would be far from ideal.
Lost in thought, Purple Melody Sage absentmindedly finished his cake. When he turned to grab another piece from the table, he found only a tiny sliver remaining.
“Who stole my cake?!” Purple Melody Sage roared in anger.
The minor demons nearby instinctively parted, revealing Jin Lin and Mo Changxing hiding among them.
Jin Lin: “Senior Brother, look! Our little Snowflake is amazing!”
Mo Changxing: “Indeed. It seems Master’s medicine truly cured Qingxue’s ailment.”
“Jin Lin! Mo Changxing!” Purple Melody Sage glared at the two, who were pretending nothing had happened.
Damn it! Not only had they stolen his cake, but they were acting as if they’d done nothing wrong.
Ah! It was all his fault for getting too lost in thought and forgetting to guard against these two troublemakers!
Grumbling internally, Purple Melody Sage quickly devoured the last remaining piece of cake on the table.
Delicacies were safest when stored in one’s own stomach, after all!
“You two brats!”
Having secured the last of the cake, Purple Melody Sage bellowed in anger.
“Master, why so angry so early in the morning?” Jin Lin raised an eyebrow, showing not a shred of remorse for stealing the cake.
Purple Melody Sage gave a forced smile and said sternly, “Since it’s so early, why don’t you two spar with your junior brothers and sisters? That way, I can offer you some guidance as well.”
No way were these two getting away with stealing his cake—they’d have to pay the price! (n_n)
“Master, I’m sure our juniors would prefer your personal guidance,” Jin Lin replied without batting an eye.
Truth be told, Jin Lin and Mo Changxing had been watching from the shadows ever since that pig demon came seeking advice.
It was Purple Melody Sage who had resorted to all sorts of underhanded tricks to recruit these disciples in the first place.
So… the two of them had encouraged their new juniors to give their master a proper “welcome” and exhaust him to death! (n_n)
“I never said I wouldn’t guide them,” Purple Melody Sage chuckled with a scheming grin. “Go ahead and spar boldly. I’ll be right here watching. If there’s anything lacking, I’ll point it out!”
You fight, I talk. Let’s see who tires out first, you brats! (n_n)
“Great! It’s settled then! Cuihua, go inside and brew Master a pot of fine tea! I’ll supervise your sparring right here!” Purple Melody Sage smirked triumphantly.
“Yes, Master,” Cuihua obediently hurried inside to prepare the tea.
Purple Melody Sage glanced at Jin Lin and Mo Changxing’s sullen expressions and couldn’t help but laugh.
Today, you two will learn why the older ginger is spicier!
Hah! Even if these hundred-plus disciples aren’t particularly skilled, sparring with each of them one by one will still wear you two out.
Let’s see if you’ll still have the energy to steal my food afterward!
The minor demons, however, exchanged uneasy glances, none daring to step forward.
These two seniors had left quite the psychological scar on them when they first came to the mountain seeking apprenticeship…
Sparring with them seemed even more terrifying than facing their master!
At the very least, from what they’d observed earlier, their master had been gentle—pure guidance with no real force.
But now, Master wanted these two seniors to “guide” them? What if they went overboard?
Their fragile bodies and meager cultivation couldn’t withstand the torment of these two powerhouses!
“Why isn’t anyone moving? Do you think your senior brothers will eat you alive?” Purple Melody Sage frowned in displeasure at the hesitant demons.
Finally, a trembling dog demon stepped forward.
He bowed respectfully to Jin Lin and Mo Changxing and stammered, “E-Excuse me… which of you two seniors will be guiding this lowly one…? P-Please go easy on me…”
