Chapter 331: Disciple’s Cunning

The three figures in the sky exchanged blows for over a dozen rounds, and for the moment, it was impossible to tell who would emerge victorious.

Under normal circumstances, the Purple Melody Sage wouldn’t have minded playing around with his two disciples.

But now, he felt that the cake in his hands might object!

The winds were strong at high altitudes, and their fierce back-and-forth movements only added to the chaos.

What if, by some careless mishap, this deliciously soft and fluffy cake were to lose its perfect appearance?

How could he possibly show it off to Yun Qingxue then?

“You two unfilial disciples! Your master is hungry! Are you trying to starve me to death by blocking my way back to eat?!” the Purple Melody Sage declared, deciding to pull rank as their master.

“Master, if you’re going to lie, at least put some effort into it.

You, esteemed elder, have been fasting for thousands of years~

Are you saying you’re so old now that your cultivation has deteriorated to the point of needing food?” Mo Changxing casually flicked out several small, crackling bolts of lightning.

The Purple Melody Sage swiftly dodged. Before he could respond, Jin Lin chimed in, “Master, judging by your reflexes, you don’t seem that old. How could your cultivation have degraded to the point where you can’t even fast anymore?”

As he spoke, Jin Lin unceremoniously hurled several ice and wind blades.

The sight of their battle sent the newly arrived little demons on Luoyun Mountain into a frenzy of excitement.

Mo Changxing and Jin Lin exchanged a glance before simultaneously charging recklessly toward the cake in the Purple Melody Sage’s hands.

At the same time, Mo Changxing summoned a bolt of heavenly lightning, aiming it straight at the cake.

Jin Lin, too, unleashed another barrage of ice blades, all directed at the very same cake.

What the—?! The Purple Melody Sage was momentarily stunned.

What kind of logic was this from those two brats? If they couldn’t have it, they’d just destroy it?

But he didn’t have time to dwell on it. If those little rascals thought they could ruin the cake so easily, they were sorely mistaken!

With a flick of his hand, he instantly erected a small barrier around the cake, leaving it floating safely in midair while he freed both hands to counter their combined assault.

Seeing the Purple Melody Sage release the cake, a sly glint flashed in Mo Changxing’s eyes. He shot a meaningful glance at Jin Lin.

Understanding immediately, Jin Lin took advantage of the Sage’s distraction to leap forward, conjuring multiple water screens in midair.

The screens encircled the Purple Melody Sage before rapidly freezing into walls of ice.

The four ice walls then began closing in swiftly.

The Purple Melody Sage frowned slightly. Was this brat Jin Lin really planning to freeze his own master into a popsicle over a piece of cake?!

But did the kid really think he’d succeed? Did he take his master for some pushover?

If he couldn’t even handle these two troublemakers, what face would he have left to call himself their master?

With a composed smile, the Purple Melody Sage raised his hands, purple light swirling around them, and shouted, “Break!”

The four ice walls shattered instantly, fragments scattering everywhere—all in the blink of an eye.

Yet, in that same fleeting moment, the Purple Melody Sage realized he’d been tricked. Because the cake he’d just protected with a barrier was now gone—snatched away!

Yes, exactly!

Who would’ve thought that these two brats, who usually bickered at the drop of a hat and resorted to fists at the slightest provocation, could work together so seamlessly to outwit their master?

“Damn brats!” The Purple Melody Sage’s expression darkened. Did they really think they could outmaneuver him so easily?

What a joke! Their earlier success was just a momentary lapse on his part—a master’s indulgence!

“Master seems to be in high spirits! Anyone who wants guidance should seize this chance to spar with him!”

Mo Changxing, holding the cake, dashed into the crowd of spectating little demons. Seeing the Purple Melody Sage charging after him, he quickly rallied them.

The little demons, already fired up from watching the earlier battle, immediately surged forward, swarming the Sage.

The poor Sage barely had time to react before he was surrounded by the eager mob.

And not just surrounded—these little demons didn’t even bother with explanations before launching their attacks!

Worse, they seemed to be going all out!

The Purple Melody Sage was even more bewildered. For a moment, he wondered if these hundred-plus little demons weren’t his newly recruited disciples but rather Jin Lin and Mo Changxing’s personal enforcers!

Look at them, throwing their signature moves at him like their lives depended on it! What kind of grudge was this?!

Meanwhile, the little demons’ reasoning was simple.

Their master was a peerless expert, his cultivation unfathomably profound. If they didn’t give it their all, how could he possibly identify their strengths and weaknesses?

With the Sage occupied, Jin Lin naturally made his escape, chasing after Mo Changxing.

After all, half of that stolen cake belonged to him!

By the time the Purple Melody Sage had subdued the mob of little demons who’d dared to gang up on their master, Jin Lin and Mo Changxing had long since vanished.

Taking advantage of the chaos outside, Yun Qingxue had already baked two more cakes.

Inside the house, A’dai, Liuli, Daise, and Huanling were happily indulging.

The Purple Melody Sage, initially frustrated and ready to leave, suddenly caught a familiar sweet fragrance in the air.

Following the scent, he entered the house and saw the blissfully eating group.

On the table lay a large, partially sliced cake—and another one, perfectly intact.

The Purple Melody Sage froze.

There were so many cakes here… which meant all that scheming and fighting he’d done with Jin Lin and Mo Changxing over that half-eaten one…

Suddenly, he felt incredibly foolish.

“Did Qingxue make these cakes too?” he asked the group.

Daise stood up nervously and nodded. “Yes. While you were sparring with the two young masters, our mistress made a few more to share with everyone.”

No sooner had she spoken than Yun Qingxue emerged, carrying yet another freshly baked cake.

“Master Sage, would you like to join us?” Daise offered with a smile.

The Purple Melody Sage stared at the two whole cakes and the sliced one on the table before stepping forward silently.

“Actually… I’m tired. I think I’ll retire to my room.”

“Farewell, Master Sage,” Daise replied, slightly puzzled but still respectful.

She couldn’t understand it—just moments ago, he’d been fighting Jin Lin and Mo Changxing over that half-eaten cake. Why wasn’t he interested now?

The Purple Melody Sage silently reached out, grabbed an entire cake, and grinned at them.

“I’m tired, so I’ll take this back to my room to enjoy!”

Without giving them a chance to react, he vanished in the blink of an eye.

Yun Qingxue: “…”

Liuli, A’dai, Daise: “…”

Had the Purple Melody Sage just escaped from some famine-stricken land? How utterly shameless! →_→
