Chapter 323: Disciple Recruitment Interview

“Where is our master?” Jin Lin thought of the culprit, the Purple Song Sage.

“Ran off!” Mo Changxing said bluntly.

Yun Qingxue clearly saw Jin Lin’s eye twitch.

“I know what you’re worried about,” Yun Qingxue smiled at the two. “Actually, it’s not a bad thing for our master to take on disciples. My identity has long destined me not to have the luxury of idleness.

What’s meant to come will come. It’s not a bad idea to practice discernment early!

See you tomorrow, senior brothers!” With that, Yun Qingxue returned alone to her quarters.

The night passed without incident. Early the next morning, Yun Qingxue, Mo Changxing, and Jin Lin arrived at a temporary pavilion set up at the foot of the mountain.

Seeing the three emerge from the Luo Yun Mountain’s protective barrier, the crowd of eager little demons, who had been waiting at the foot of the mountain for a long time, immediately erupted in excitement.

“Line up in order, one by one, to register!” Jin Lin used his magic to amplify his voice, addressing the crowd.

But the little demons, desperate to become disciples, all scrambled to be the first to sign up, rendering Jin Lin’s command ineffective.

“Luo Yun Mountain does not accept those without discipline!” When Jin Lin’s words failed to restore order, Yun Qingxue followed up with another magically amplified shout.

“I was here first! Why can’t I be at the front?” one little demon argued indignantly.

“Tch! You say you were first, so you were first? Where’s the proof?” another retorted mockingly.

“Hey, you two, what’s the point of arguing? Clearly, I was here first!” roared a burly, dark-faced demon.

“What do you mean you were first? It was me!” The little demons refused to back down.

“All of you, shut up!” Mo Changxing rubbed his temples in frustration, then pointed at the first two who had started arguing. “You, and you!”

The two little demons, realizing they’d been singled out, immediately put on ingratiating smiles and stepped forward. “Sir, what are your orders?”

Mo Changxing’s expression was icy. “You’re disqualified. Leave now.”

The smiles on their faces froze. “On what grounds?” they protested.

“Because you lack discipline!” Mo Changxing said coldly. “My junior sister already said—Luo Yun Mountain does not accept those without discipline!”

“How are we undisciplined?” they shot back angrily.

They had cultivated for years, all for the chance to become strong and ascend to immortality. Relying solely on their own efforts, that goal might never be achieved—or worse, they might perish in some conflict before then.

But with a master, everything would be different! Not only would their cultivation progress rapidly with guidance, but their safety would also be assured.

And the one accepting disciples was none other than a legendary master of the Xuanling Continent! How could they bear to lose this opportunity?

“Hmph!” Mo Changxing merely gave them a cold glance, his aura flaring for an instant, making the two instinctively shrink back.

After a moment, he turned his gaze to the rest. “You have half a quarter-hour to form an orderly line. Otherwise, all of you will be disqualified!”

The little demons exchanged uneasy glances.

“Seems none of you want to become disciples. In that case, return to where you came from. Don’t waste everyone’s time,” Jin Lin added sharply.

“Hurry! Line up! Line up!” someone in the crowd shouted, and the demons began scrambling into formation—though still jostling for the front.

“Luo Yun Mountain does not prioritize based on order of arrival, but on talent and character. Everyone here will have a chance to be assessed!” Yun Qingxue’s magically amplified voice rang out.

Her words acted like a calming pill, and the chaotic crowd finally settled into a proper line.

The two demons Mo Changxing had ordered to leave earlier quietly slipped into the middle of the line, hoping to blend in.

“The two I called out earlier—leave Luo Yun Mountain immediately. Don’t make me repeat myself a third time,” Mo Changxing said coldly.

The other demons promptly shoved the two forward.

“We won’t go!” The two, realizing their plan had failed, glared defiantly at Mo Changxing. “We came to become the Sage’s disciples! Why are you disqualifying us without reason?”

“Because you lack discipline and refuse to obey!” Mo Changxing flicked his sleeve. Before anyone could react, a gust of wind sent the two flying far beyond the mountain, vanishing in the blink of an eye.

“Anyone else who acts like them will meet the same fate—or worse.” Mo Changxing’s icy gaze swept over the crowd.

“As long as you line up properly, everyone will have a chance to become our fellow disciples. But if anyone causes trouble, remember—Luo Yun Mountain does not accept the undisciplined or the disobedient!”

After Mo Changxing’s decisive example, Yun Qingxue stepped in with reason.

The demons, now thoroughly cowed, stood quietly in line.

“Let’s begin.” Seeing order restored, Yun Qingxue smiled and beckoned the first in line—a muscular, rough-looking female demon.

The woman swayed exaggeratedly as she approached, throwing flirtatious glances—not just at Jin Lin and Mo Changxing, but even at Yun Qingxue.

“Name!” Yun Qingxue resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Why was this woman batting her eyelashes at her?

“My name is Jiao Xiaoxiao~” the woman simpered.

Hearing the name, Yun Qingxue couldn’t help but glance at the woman’s burly frame. The name and the physique were complete opposites!

“Years of cultivation? Current stage?”

“Three hundred years, mid-stage Perception!” Jiao Xiaoxiao giggled, tossing another wink Yun Qingxue’s way.

*Snap!* Yun Qingxue set down her brush and fixed Jiao Xiaoxiao with a glare. “Listen, sister. Can you speak, act, and express yourself normally?”

“But… they say delicate women are the most endearing~” Jiao Xiaoxiao whined.

“Some people’s ‘delicacy’ just makes others want to punch them,” Yun Qingxue said flatly. “Unfortunately, you’re one of them.

Do you want this assessment to go smoothly or not? If so, answer in a normal tone and with a normal expression!”
