Chapter 212: Jin Lin’s Persistence

Daisy devotedly stood guard outside Yun Qingxue’s door. Not far in front of their house, Yun Sisi remained sprawled on the ground, her heart filled with pain and hatred, yet her face wore an expression of pitiful vulnerability, as if she had suffered unbearable injustice.

“Brother Changxing!” Yun Sisi cried out, her voice trembling with accusation. “How could you strike me?! How could you lay a hand on me?!”

“Why not?!” Mo Changxing swept a cold glance over her. If not for her current status, given the viciousness of her earlier attack on Yun Qingxue, he wouldn’t have let her off with such a light injury.

The only reason this woman could still stand there unharmed and question him was because she still had some use. He couldn’t do anything to Yun Sisi now—if anything happened to her, Yun Qingxue’s situation would become even more dangerous.

“You’ve grown increasingly reckless!” Mo Changxing said coldly, his voice laced with disgust and helplessness.

“What does this have to do with me?! Why are you only blaming me? Brother Changxing, you’re so biased!” Yun Sisi suddenly shrieked, her control slipping.

“Hey! Ugly woman, what are you screeching about in the middle of the night?!” Jin Lin had been praising A-Dai for his earlier feat of absorbing the dark mist when Yun Sisi’s sudden outburst irritated him. Without thinking, he snapped at her.

“What kind of thing are you to dare speak to me like that?” Yun Sisi immediately retorted, glaring at Jin Lin defiantly.

Jin Lin smirked coldly, his eyes narrowing dangerously. “Ugly freak, say that again if you dare!”

Yun Sisi sneered fearlessly. “I said—what—kind—of—thing—are—you?!”

As the last word left her lips, a sharp cry of pain tore from her throat. Two small puncture wounds appeared on her arm, the surrounding skin rapidly blackening before her eyes.

A dark-purple streak of light shot back to Jin Lin’s arm.

“A-Dai!” Jin Lin frowned in mock disapproval, though his eyes gleamed with amusement. He scolded the serpent coiled around his arm in a chiding tone. “A-Dai, you mustn’t do that, understand? How could you bite just anything? That woman is so hideous, even looking at her gives me nightmares—how could you stomach sinking your fangs into her? Doesn’t it make you sick?!”

“Hiss~ Ugh~ Ugh~” As if to play along, A-Dai stretched forward, mimicking a gagging motion.

Yun Sisi felt like she was about to vomit blood from sheer rage. In all her life, she had never suffered such humiliation!

“Brother Changxing—are you just going to stand there and watch me be bullied?” Yun Sisi gazed at Mo Changxing with tearful despair, her eyes brimming with disappointment. “The Lord has treated you well, hasn’t he? Brother Changxing, how can you bear to see his only legitimate daughter treated so cruelly?”

Mo Changxing’s hands clenched into fists beneath his sleeves. “If not for your status as the Lord’s daughter, do you honestly think you’d still be alive, given your usual behavior?”

A chill ran through Yun Sisi’s heart. Though she refused to believe it, she could hear the deep revulsion in Mo Changxing’s voice.

Brother Changxing hated her now! Why? What had she done wrong? Before, though he had always been indifferent to her, he had never despised her like this!

It must be that woman! It had to be because of her—that wretched woman must have bewitched Brother Changxing!

Yun Sisi gritted her teeth, her eyes burning with malice as she glared at the house where Yun Qingxue resided.

Sooner or later—sooner or later, she would destroy that woman inside! That woman who had stolen her Brother Changxing’s heart!

Daisy noticed Yun Sisi’s venomous gaze and tensed, but she bravely stepped forward, shielding the house with her own body against Yun Sisi’s vicious stare.

The blackened poison on Yun Sisi’s arm spread rapidly. Soon, she felt as though she were trapped between ice and fire, a deep pain and weakness spreading through her body. Unable to maintain her composure, she reverted to her pitiful act.

“Brother Changxing, save me!” she pleaded mournfully.

Though he loathed Yun Sisi intensely, Mo Changxing still turned his gaze to Jin Lin and uttered two frigid words: “The antidote.”

Jin Lin didn’t hesitate. “There isn’t one.”

“She can’t die yet,” Mo Changxing stated tersely.

Jin Lin smirked indifferently. “Whether she lives or dies is none of my concern.”

His callous words sent a shudder through Yun Sisi, whose poisoning was worsening rapidly. She didn’t want to die, so she turned her desperate, tearful eyes back to Mo Changxing. “Brother Changxing, you must save me!”

“Jin Lin, for the sake of our shared sect, give me the antidote,” Mo Changxing demanded, his expression stern, his dark eyes piercing like the night itself.

Jin Lin scoffed. “I’ll ask you, Senior Brother, to also consider our shared sect and not make things difficult for me. That poison truly has no antidote.”

“You’re lying!!!”

This time, before Mo Changxing could respond, Yun Sisi shrieked hysterically. “How could there be no antidote?! You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?! Was it that vile woman who told you to poison me?! She wants me dead! She put you up to this, didn’t she?! Brother Changxing—Brother Changxing, don’t you see how evil she is?!”

“Shut up if you want to live!” Mo Changxing’s aura turned glacial as he issued the warning without even glancing at her.

The night grew deeper, the once-gentle breeze now howling mournfully.

Mo Changxing fixed his gaze on Jin Lin. “If there’s no antidote, then there must be a way to neutralize the poison. Tell me!”

Jin Lin nodded, then pointed at Yun Sisi with disgust. “There is a way. But given what that woman just tried to do to Xuexue, do you really think I’d save a wicked woman who sought to kill her, just like you?”

Faced with Jin Lin’s accusation, Mo Changxing fell silent for a moment before replying, “Tell me the method. I’ll owe you a favor.”

“I don’t need your favors! After what she tried to do to Xuexue, she doesn’t deserve to live, not even if she died a hundred times!” Jin Lin flicked his sleeve dismissively, refusing to yield.

“It hurts! It hurts!” The poison spread faster, and Yun Sisi began to sob uncontrollably, writhing on the ground in agony. Her state was beyond mere dishevelment—it was wretched.

“Brother Changxing, save me!” she wailed.

Mo Changxing’s fists tightened beneath his sleeves. He felt no pity for Yun Sisi’s suffering, but he had no choice—he had to save her. No matter how detestable she was, she still held indispensable value. And so, he would ensure she lived.
