Chapter 200: Rejected

With almost no effort, the Purple Song Sage effortlessly dispelled Jin Lin’s innate true fire.

However, the heavenly tribulation lightning summoned by Mo Changxing was not as easily neutralized. The lightning abruptly halted half a meter away from the Purple Song Sage, swiftly changed direction, and split into two paths—one striking toward Jin Lin and the other toward Mo Changxing.

“Damn it!” Jin Lin quickly dodged, casting a water-control spell. The water intercepted the lightning aimed at him, absorbing some of its power before redirecting it toward the Purple Song Sage.

With a mere flick of his finger, the Purple Song Sage effortlessly deflected Jin Lin’s counterattack.

“Seriously?!” The heavenly tribulation lightning resumed its relentless pursuit of Jin Lin. He attempted to absorb it, but despite his innate lightning affinity, Mo Changxing had summoned divine tribulation lightning—something only gods could command. It wasn’t something a mere lightning-element wielder like him could easily handle!

The moment he tried, the lightning intensified its assault, forcing Jin Lin to abandon the attempt and focus on fleeing.

As he ran, Jin Lin glanced toward Mo Changxing’s direction. The heavenly tribulation lightning, redirected by the Purple Song Sage, had split into two—yet only Jin Lin was scrambling for his life!

There was no trace of the lightning near Mo Changxing. Upon reflection, since Mo Changxing had summoned it, he must still have some control over it, even if it had momentarily rebelled. Under the clear blue sky, two of the three celestial figures remained poised and composed, while the third was being chased around by bolts of lightning—a rather lively spectacle!

“Mo Changxing! Call off this damn lightning already!” Jin Lin shouted while dodging. His fragile heart once again filled with the bitter realization that he’d been betrayed by his own teammate.

Damn it! Here he was, running for his life from heavenly tribulation lightning summoned by his own ally, while said ally and their enemy stood by, calmly enjoying the show!

Just whose side was Mo Changxing on, anyway?!

And yet…

That wasn’t even the most infuriating part. The worst part was that after Jin Lin’s shout, Mo Changxing hesitated before finally dispelling the relentless lightning chasing him!

Once the bolts were recalled, Jin Lin stormed over to Mo Changxing and grabbed him by the collar. “Mo! You set me up!”

Mo Changxing remained unruffled. “What do you mean, junior brother?”

“You could have recalled those damn bolts at any time, but you just stood there watching me run for my life! Don’t pretend you didn’t do it on purpose!” Jin Lin glared.

“How was I supposed to know you couldn’t handle a few measly bolts of heavenly lightning?” Mo Changxing feigned innocence.

“Who said I couldn’t—” Jin Lin cut himself off, realizing he’d fallen into Mo Changxing’s trap. If he insisted he could handle it, then his frantic escape would seem like an act. But if he admitted he couldn’t, he’d be conceding inferiority!

No matter how he answered, he’d lose. Silently, Jin Lin released Mo Changxing’s collar.

Mo Changxing smiled, radiant as the stars.

“Honestly, junior brother, the way you were running around was quite entertaining. Who knew the king of your clan had such a humorous side?” he remarked solemnly the moment Jin Lin let go.

Jin Lin clenched his fists. Damn you, Mo Changxing!

“Xuexue is watching. I was just trying to amuse her,” Jin Lin shot back with a smirk.

“Are you two brats going to fight or not?! All this chattering is wasting my time! Either get on with it or scram!” The Purple Song Sage, growing impatient, barked at them.

“Of course we’re fighting!” Jin Lin grinned brightly, suddenly struck by an idea.

Forget the saying about patience in revenge—he’d already been tricked multiple times today. Not because he lacked intelligence, of course, but because Mo Changxing was too cunning, and he himself was too kindhearted to expose him!

But constantly being outmaneuvered wasn’t befitting of a king! It was time to turn the tables.

His eyes gleaming, Jin Lin suddenly flew to the Purple Song Sage’s side. “Master, how about we team up?”

The Purple Song Sage turned, scrutinizing Jin Lin as if seeing him for the first time. “Team up?”

Jin Lin nodded firmly.

The Purple Song Sage’s expression shifted to one of undisguised disdain. “No. You’re too weak.”

Jin Lin choked on his own breath, utterly speechless.

This wasn’t fair…

How had he, the mighty Dragon King of the Water Tribe, a prodigy of the heavens, fallen to such a state? Was this Luo Yun Mountain, its Purple Song Sage, and that damned Mo Changxing all conspiring against him?!
