“Damn it! Are you heavenly tribulations or celestial hounds? Chasing me all over the sky like this—have you no dignity at all?!”
Jin Lin dodged the dozen or so heavenly thunderbolts while shouting at the top of his lungs. Suddenly, as if struck by an idea, he darted toward Zi Qu Shengjun. Though he, the mighty Dragon King, was usually broad-minded and magnanimous, he had heard Zi Qu Shengjun’s insult—”crawling worm”—loud and clear!
To dare describe his noble Golden Dragon lineage with such a demeaning term—that was absolutely unforgivable!
Since Mo Changxing had generously sent over so many heavenly thunderbolts, Jin Lin felt it would be selfish to keep them all to himself. What better way to show filial piety than to share them with his esteemed master?
As Jin Lin charged toward Zi Qu Shengjun, a shadowy figure flashed past both Zi Qu Shengjun and Yun Qingxue.
Yun Qingxue suddenly felt herself lifted off the ground. When she looked down at where she had been standing moments ago, she saw the dozen heavenly thunderbolts strike the spot with a deafening crackle.
The immobilization spell on her dissolved, and a pair of arms wrapped around her slender waist. Below, the ground where she had stood was now a writhing mass of lightning, sizzling ominously.
“Will Master and the others be alright?” Yun Qingxue asked worriedly.
Mo Changxing chuckled. “They won’t die.”
“You brats! Both of you!” Zi Qu Shengjun’s furious voice boomed from within the crackling storm of lightning.
Mo Changxing smiled, his beautiful eyes curving gently as he gazed at Yun Qingxue. “Didn’t Master tell you to observe the battle and learn from it? Pay close attention later—you’ll want to remember every detail.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Yun Qingxue felt the force holding her aloft vanish. She quickly summoned her own magic, riding the wind as she descended gracefully to the ground.
The moment her feet touched the earth, two figures shot into the sky like lightning, one after the other.
The wind howled, their robes fluttering like banners. Against the vast blue sky, three strikingly handsome men stood facing each other in midair, forming a tense triangular standoff.
The sunlight bathed them in a radiant glow, and for a moment, Yun Qingxue felt as though she were inside a painting—with these three wind-riding figures as the immortal subjects.
“Let’s team up,” Jin Lin said, his gaze shifting between Zi Qu Shengjun and Mo Changxing before settling on the latter.
In their earlier one-on-one duel, despite Zi Qu Shengjun conceding thirty moves, Jin Lin had barely lasted fifty exchanges before being defeated.
As the mighty Dragon King, ruler of the aquatic realm and one of the top powerhouses in the entire Xuanling Continent, it was humiliating to be so thoroughly outmatched. It also made him intensely curious—just how powerful was Zi Qu Shengjun, a figure whose reputation rivaled even the Divine Emperor’s? And if he joined forces with Mo Changxing, how many moves could they last against him?
Mo Changxing—Jin Lin had always suspected this senior disciple of Xue Xue was no ordinary man. The fact that he had summoned heavenly thunderbolts only confirmed his suspicions. Though he hadn’t yet fully tested Mo Changxing’s abilities, he was certain the man’s strength was at least on par with his own.
“Sure, let’s team up,” Mo Changxing agreed without hesitation.
Jin Lin grinned and shifted closer to him, transforming the three-way standoff into a two-against-one confrontation.
“Ganging up on me? Have you two brats no respect for your master?” Zi Qu Shengjun glared at the pair.
Jin Lin smirked. “If it were one-on-one, wouldn’t that just make you a bully picking on the weak?”
Zi Qu Shengjun scoffed. “Me? A bully? Perish the thought! Even if you fought me alone, I’d still give you a few dozen moves’ head start. But let’s be honest—no amount of handicap can bridge the gap between you and me.”
Jin Lin caught the implication—Zi Qu Shengjun was mocking his lack of strength.
“You talk too much,” Mo Changxing said impatiently. With a flick of his wrist, he summoned another wave of heavenly thunderbolts.
Bolts of lightning streaked from all directions, ruthlessly targeting Zi Qu Shengjun.
“Let me spice things up for Master!”
As the heavenly tribulation raged, Jin Lin conjured his innate true flames, sending them blazing toward Zi Qu Shengjun, who remained motionless.
Unfazed, Zi Qu Shengjun raised a hand and traced a golden circle in the air. The thunder and flames struck simultaneously.
The true flames summoned by Jin Lin crashed against the barrier before Zi Qu Shengjun—only to rebound violently.
