Chapter 161: The Delicate Girl

“Disciple Changxing, see the guests out.” Saint Purple Melody smiled faintly, but his smile was cool and indifferent, exuding an aura that kept others at arm’s length.

Mo Changxing rolled his eyes silently.

This guy had caused all this trouble with his own outburst, and now he was leaving it to him to deal with. How utterly shameless!

“Disciple Qingxue, follow your master back to the mountain.” Saint Purple Melody, however, didn’t seem the least bit bothered by his own lack of propriety.

Disciples—especially capable, independent ones like Mo Changxing—were practically meant to be used without a second thought!

The group of little demons watched unwillingly as Saint Purple Melody led Yun Qingxue further and further up the mountain, yet they still hesitated to leave. What if the Saint changed his mind in the next moment? After all, reclusive masters like Saint Purple Melody were known for their eccentric temperaments—it was only natural!

“Are you all still not leaving?” Mo Changxing’s expression darkened as he issued another dismissal. Yun Qingxue had already followed Saint Purple Melody far ahead, yet these little demons showed no sign of departing.

An oppressive aura radiated from him. The little demons exchanged glances, slowly backing away, but none actually left.

A cold, aloof smile curled at the corner of Mo Changxing’s lips as his icy gaze swept over them.

Turning, he strode up the mountain after Saint Purple Melody and Yun Qingxue.

If these fools refused to leave on their own, then let them stand there like idiots.

The old man Purple Melody had set up a powerful barrier at the foot of Luoyun Mountain. With their abilities, these little demons had no hope of breaching it. If they wanted to stay, so be it!

The three within Luoyun Mountain’s barrier walked away without a backward glance. The group of little demons exchanged bewildered looks, the last flicker of hope in their eyes extinguished. With sighs, they turned and began to disperse.

A frail figure moved slowly among them, drifting away with the crowd.

She was a girl of about sixteen or seventeen, so thin she seemed as if a gust of wind could carry her off.

After walking some distance, the delicate girl turned back, casting a despondent, disappointed glance toward Luoyun Mountain before letting out a soft sigh.

“Well, well, well~” A malicious chuckle rang out just as the girl was about to leave for good.

Her frail body instinctively shrank back, her eyes widening in fear as she looked toward the source of the voice. Two men and a woman stood not far away, eyeing her with sinister grins.

The pale-faced girl retreated slowly, her wary, frightened gaze fixed on the trio surrounding her. Any one of them could easily overpower her.

As she took in their predatory expressions, her heart sank inch by inch. Though she had only recently attained enlightenment through absorbing the essence of the sun and moon, she was well aware of the brutal rule of survival in the Xuanling Continent.

It was no rare occurrence for powerful demons to forcibly drain the cultivation of weaker ones. She had even witnessed her own companions being drained to death by stronger demons.

The frail girl continued to back away, while the two men and woman advanced step by step, their grins widening.

“Since we failed to become disciples of that old man Saint Purple Melody, absorbing this little demon’s cultivation will be a small consolation!” The woman among them laughed coyly, her gaze as venomous as a snake’s as she stared at the frail girl.

“Haha! This little demon looks like she has at least a few centuries of cultivation. How about we split it three ways?” another man said gruffly.

“Agreed!” the third chimed in.

As they spoke, they closed in on the girl, treating her like a prepared feast waiting to be devoured.

The girl’s face was deathly pale, her beautiful, tear-filled eyes casting one last despairing glance toward Luoyun Mountain.

She had just sensed the presence of the Flower and Wood Clan’s monarch—a noble aura passed down through bloodline.

But…

How could the exalted Flower King ever take notice of someone as insignificant as her?

She knew full well she was no match for these three. Her inherently timid nature made her close her eyes obediently, not even attempting to resist.

“HAHAHAHA!”

Seeing her resigned submission, the three burst into raucous laughter.

“Good things should be shared!”

Just as they were about to begin draining the girl’s cultivation, another rough voice suddenly cut in.

A burly man leaped down from above, landing heavily on the ground.

A glimmer of moisture appeared at the corners of the frail girl’s eyes. Her hands clenched briefly beneath her sleeves before relaxing again.

It was no use. She was no match for these people. Resistance would be futile…

“Who the hell are you? We found this little demon first!” The woman from the original trio glared coldly at the intruding brute, her voice sharp with anger.

The man’s face twisted into a savage grin. “So what if you found her first? She’s unclaimed—fair game for whoever’s here!”
