Chapter 182: The Annoying Aunt’s Visit Again

Since that night’s incident, for two whole days, he hadn’t left her side for even a moment.

He even abandoned the hunting party and drove away the couple who had been living in the outer cave, all just to stay close to her.

By then, as if to stop Xi Yi from continuing like this—Sha Yi’s period arrived nearly half a month late, striking back with a vengeance.

When she woke up in the morning, she saw the dampness on the animal hide beneath her. Not only that, but even Xi Yi’s waist and abdomen hadn’t escaped the mess.

The scene was far more disastrous than the first time!

But if she really had to blame someone, it was Xi Yi. If he hadn’t insisted on clinging to her, she wouldn’t have ended up like this.

Getting covered in it was his own fault!

However, compared to her last period during the rainy season, this one was indeed much later.

Sha Yi suspected it might have been due to the constant moving around and getting drenched in the rain back then.

Moreover, this time, her period brought unbearable abdominal pain.

After lying down for a long while, she still had no strength to get up. Yet, the flow beneath her remained heavy, and the sticky sensation was driving her crazy.

After struggling for a while, she finally couldn’t take it anymore and tried to sit up.

But the moment she lifted herself halfway, the man in his sleep pulled her back down and pressed against her.

Sha Yi was startled. Pushing him angrily, she snapped, “Xi Yi, let go of me right now!”

The man jolted awake and sat up, only to see the sweet, gentle woman from the night before now looking pitifully at him, clutching the snow-white fur he had given her, her brows furrowed in distress.

In that instant, Xi Yi felt his heart melt.

He had never seen this side of her before.

Though he had often seen her soft and tender demeanor, at this moment, she seemed like a little creature in need of pampering. Her smooth hair cascaded over her bare neck, and he could even see the marks he had left on her the night before, contrasting against her fair, delicate skin—utterly mesmerizing.

Just that one glance nearly sent his thoughts wandering again.

Truthfully, long ago, he had wanted to claim her completely. But due to the challenges of the rainy season, he hadn’t been able to fully possess her until now.

Now that he had finally gotten his wish, he still couldn’t get enough of her. Every time he touched her soft, beautiful body, he wished he could meld her into himself.

Before meeting her, he had never imagined such an enchanting woman could exist in this world. He could hardly believe that such a perfect woman belonged to him—especially since she was so utterly devoted to him alone.

He adored everything about her, even when she was angry. It only made his heart soften further.

Before, he had always worried she might leave him—that someone so exquisite would grow tired of his roughness. Worse still, there were other men around her, watching covetously. He often felt uneasy, as if trapped in the loneliness of his childhood. Even when she lay beside him, it still didn’t feel real.

Only after she completely belonged to him did that insecurity transform into pure joy. Especially after their first time together, when he thought he had hurt her, he had rushed out in a panic to ask Xi Gu. Only then did he realize—he was her first man. The revelation had sent him into raptures.

He felt as though he could never be without her again. Now, more than ever, she was the first—and only—person in this world who truly belonged to him.

So, for the past two days, he had even given up hunting, choosing instead to cling to her. It wasn’t just for the intoxicating pleasure; he desperately longed for her body to carry his bloodline.

He was certain that any child they had would be the most adorable and loving in the world—just as unique as she was.

Perhaps, in the long wait of his life, he had been destined for the moment he met her. One glance, and he was lost to her forever. But he had never felt as fulfilled as he did now. Even if her beauty kept him on edge, fearing he might lose her, he had no regrets—only gratitude.

He was terrified this might all be a dream, that he would wake up and she’d be gone.

He couldn’t imagine life without her.

He only knew one thing—he could never be without her again.

Just like the volcanic eruption she had once spoken of—something he hadn’t understood at first, only later realizing it was a catastrophic disaster. She had saved him then, and he believed she could save all of him—even the deepest insecurities of his heart.

Right now, though, she didn’t look well. The way she stared at him held not just distress but a hint of reproach. He was momentarily baffled, wondering if she was upset with him for being too rough these past few days.

Admittedly, her frame was delicate and slender—completely different from the women of his tribe. Only compared to the shorter women of another clan did she appear taller, but in terms of build, she was always the most petite. He adored her flawless, slender body, but their size difference made intimacy challenging. He knew this, yet he couldn’t control himself.

If she was truly angry because of that, he had no idea how to make it right.

Sha Yi, meanwhile, had no clue what he was thinking during his long silence. Unable to endure any longer, she gritted her teeth and forced herself to crawl up.

But Xi Yi suddenly grabbed her wrist.

Losing her balance, she fell—right onto his lap. Another rush of warmth, thick with the scent of blood, spilled out, immediately soaking his legs.

Xi Yi froze. Sha Yi, mortified, tried desperately to scramble off despite the pain. But as she struggled, he snapped back to reality, pulling her back onto the fur and murmuring softly, “Stay lying down. I’ll take care of it.”

Though still embarrassed, her stomach ached too much to argue. Reluctantly, she obeyed.

Xi Yi didn’t seem bothered by the blood on himself. He quickly tied on a hide skirt, then fetched the menstrual cloth she kept stored in the bathing pool.

Luckily, from her last period, there was still one unused, pre-stuffed cloth left—now proving crucial.

But he didn’t hand it to her right away. Instead, he told her to keep lying down, then grabbed some wooden containers and hurried out of the cave.

Though still uncomfortable, she had no choice but to stay put.

Xi Yi returned soon after. Through the half-drawn hide partition, she watched as he placed the containers of water over the already-prepared fires to warm.

His movements were swift. In no time, the water was heated. After testing the temperature, he carried it over, dipped a small hide into it, and began carefully wiping away the bloodstains on her body.

He didn’t seem repulsed at all.

Not even by the menstrual blood she herself shied away from.

He tended to her with meticulous care. Despite the pain in her abdomen, her heart swelled with warmth.

With Xi Yi’s help, she soon got herself cleaned up.

Breakfast had been prepared outside by Xi Gu and others—mostly the usual roasted meat, but she was surprised to find a meat broth, as Xi Gu had now placed her on the “priority care” list.

Still, she ate little, her appetite ruined by her period.

Xi Yi wanted to stay with her, but Xi Gu shooed him away. Reluctantly, he kept glancing back at her as he left, looking both aggrieved and unwilling to go.

The others, of course, laughed at him again.

Ever since Xi Yi’s blunder two days ago—which had become a widely known joke—people couldn’t help but chuckle whenever they saw him with her.

Sha Yi’s face burned red.

Only once the group had gone did she finally relax.

Her stomach still ached.

After cleaning up the remnants of the meal, Xi Gu sat with her for a while.

Having likely heard about her period from Xi Yi earlier, Xi Gu offered comfort—though it soon took a different turn.

Xi Gu began grumbling about Xi Yi’s poor timing, lamenting that he had missed the best opportunity.

As women, even in this ancient era where knowledge of their own bodies was limited, they had still drawn practical conclusions and accumulated experience about fertility.

Xi Gu’s complaint implied she knew menstruation meant no pregnancy—and that if a woman’s period came after intimacy, it meant conception hadn’t occurred.

So Xi Gu was frustrated, her words of comfort turning into dramatic lamentations.

Between the pain and the urge to laugh, Sha Yi felt she’d lose her mind if she kept watching Xi Gu’s theatrics. She got up and slowly retreated to the cave.

It took great effort to clean the menstrual stains off the wooden pallet. As for the bloodied hides and furs, she had no energy to deal with them. She simply lay back down to rest.

By the time she woke again, the pain had mostly subsided. The light beyond the hide partition had taken on a faint golden hue.

Evening had come.

Exhausted from the past two days and her period’s toll, she had slept the entire day. Groggy and weak, she sat up—only for her stomach to growl loudly. The unchanged menstrual cloth from the day before also made her extremely uncomfortable.

But the moment she stepped out of the cave, she collided head-on with a man rounding the corner.

Xi Yi.

He was carrying several damp hides and furs. Spotting her, he glanced around, then tossed his load onto a large rock.

Then, with visible concern, he strode over and gripped her shoulders. “Still hurting?” he asked urgently.

Sha Yi shook her head, offering an embarrassed smile. “I’ll be back soon.”

She hadn’t planned to explain much, but based on past experiences in their old cave, he seemed to understand. Without waiting for her consent, he took her hand. “I’ll go with you.”

Unable to refuse, she nodded.

After so many embarrassing moments and now being fully confirmed as partners, what was there left to be shy about between them?
