Chapter 737: Lord of the Chaos City

The main gate of the “City Lord’s Mansion” in Chaos City had always been open, with people frequently coming and going.

Luo Feng entered the mansion with ease, as he was very familiar with the place. Previously, he had always come to study the Nine Heavens Chaos Stele, but this time, he was here to pay respects to the “Chaos City Lord.”

“The Inner Mansion of the City Lord!” Luo Feng took a deep breath and strode toward the most heavily guarded inner sanctum of the mansion.

The outer mansion remained open and accessible at all times.

However, the inner sanctum was heavily guarded, and each of the guards was an Eternal God.

“Clang!” Two guards simultaneously lowered their long spears, blocking Luo Feng’s path, their gazes cold and unyielding.

“I am Luo Feng. I have come especially to pay respects to the City Lord,” Luo Feng said respectfully.

“Do you really think you can just meet the City Lord whenever you wish?” One of the guards, surrounded faintly by arcs of lightning, stared coldly at Luo Feng. “Without a direct order from the City Lord himself, even a Venerable cannot meet him.” They were proud to serve as the gatekeepers for the Chaos City Lord, the supreme authority in the Virtual Universe Company, the ultimate ruler.

The Eternal Gods were all eager to serve as guards here. Even as mere gatekeepers, they could ignore the faces of visiting Celestial Venerables.

Because these guards represented the very face of the Chaos City Lord.

“Please announce my arrival,” Luo Feng said with a smile. “I have indeed received the City Lord’s command to come here.”

“Oh?”

A group of Eternal God guards looked at Luo Feng.

That made sense.

Without the Chaos City Lord’s command, how could this young fellow dare to come here and cause trouble?

“You wait here. I’ll inform them,” the lightning-encircled Eternal guard softened his expression slightly, offering a faint smile.

Moments later, the same guard looked at Luo Feng in astonishment.

“You’re really Luo Feng?”

Luo Feng smiled and nodded.

“You may enter. The Venerable Guiyi is already waiting inside,” the lightning-encircled Eternal guard said, retracting his spear to let Luo Feng pass.

Smiling, Luo Feng stepped into the inner sanctum. The group of guards watched him leave, exchanging hushed whispers through telepathy. They knew that Domain Lords and World Lords who could enter the inner sanctum of the City Lord’s Mansion were extremely rare, perhaps only one in a billion years. After all, this was the residence of the Chaos City Lord.

Inside the inner sanctum.

Following a wide corridor, Luo Feng soon arrived at a square paved with chaotic stones. He immediately spotted a bald man in a bright red battle robe standing in the distance. The man wore a faint smile, exuding a tranquil aura. Just looking at him, Luo Feng felt his mind naturally calm, as if he had merged into the vast and serene cosmic expanse.

Everything around seemed to vanish, leaving only the bald man standing there.

“Hmm?”

Luo Feng shuddered, snapping out of his trance.

“What a terrifying presence! Tianci Palace Lord, Immortal Venerable, Shihuo Venerable, Nine-Sword Venerable… these Celestial Venerables all seemed incredibly formidable to me. Though even the Sovereign Eternal Gods are mighty, I could still judge their strengths to some extent. But this man… I can’t even begin to gauge his power. He must be a Celestial Venerable,” Luo Feng instantly concluded. “He must be the ‘Venerable Guiyi’ the guards mentioned.”

Luo Feng approached the bald man in the red battle robe.

“I am Venerable Guiyi. By the Master’s command, I have come to meet you,” Venerable Guiyi said with a smile, whose very expression radiated a calming influence.

“Luo Feng pays homage to Venerable Guiyi,” Luo Feng bowed respectfully.

“Come with me,” Venerable Guiyi said.

“Yes,” Luo Feng respectfully followed beside him.

Venerable Guiyi led Luo Feng through the inner sanctum of the City Lord’s Mansion, occasionally turning his head with a smile. “The Master wishes to take you as a formal disciple. I see that you are agreeable to this.”

“Yes,” Luo Feng nodded.

“Since you will now be a formal disciple under the Master, there’s no need to address me as Venerable Guiyi anymore. You may simply call me Second Senior Brother,” Venerable Guiyi said with a smile. “I was among the earliest to join the Master’s disciples, which is why I am known as the Second Senior Brother. Among the Master’s many disciples, there are many who surpass me in strength. It is only due to the Master’s special favor that I remain close to him.”

Luo Feng quickly said, “Greetings, Second Senior Brother.”

“Good,” Venerable Guiyi smiled as he walked and spoke. “The Master has three avatars, and the one presiding over Chaos City is the one specializing in destruction. Therefore, you must show utmost respect and avoid offending him.”

“Yes,” Luo Feng was startled but quickly nodded respectfully.

Heavens!

The Chaos City Lord had three avatars, and the one stationed in Chaos City was the one in charge of destruction? Could just one avatar be sufficient to maintain order over Chaos City? If so, the Chaos City Lord’s power was truly beyond imagination.

Indeed, the fact that the Lord of Chaos City possessed three avatars was no secret. True powerhouses were revered for their genuine combat capabilities. The Lord of Chaos City had slain innumerable alien champions, and his trio of avatars was renowned throughout the myriad races of the cosmos. Each incarnation wielded unfathomable might.

“Chaos Void?” Luo Feng looked at a quiet courtyard before him. Outside the courtyard stood a stone tablet inscribed with the words “Chaos Stele.”

“The Master is inside,” Venerable Guiyi said, leading Luo Feng in.

Luo Feng took a step forward.

Boom~~~

Space and time twisted. One moment he was still in the City Lord’s Mansion, but as soon as he stepped into the courtyard, he felt as if the stars had shifted. He had entered a vast and desolate world.

An endless expanse of land stretched before him, littered with corpses visible everywhere. Some corpses were as massive as planets, while others were smaller than humans, yet each exuded a terrifying aura. This… must be the aftermath of a terrifying and supreme battlefield.

Luo Feng and Venerable Guiyi walked across this seemingly endless wasteland.

“Master,” Venerable Guiyi suddenly called out.

“Hmm?” Luo Feng was shocked to see, not far away, a tall and muscular man standing about three meters high. He wore an extremely intricate and ancient dark red battle armor, with armored boots on his feet. A scaled tail extended from beneath his battle skirt.

As Luo Feng’s gaze fell upon this figure, his soul trembled. At first, he saw only a silhouette, but then it was as if he beheld infinite cosmic laws… magnificent and boundless cosmic principles continuously radiating a killing aura, causing Luo Feng to feel complete submission, even to his very soul.

Not a shred of resistance crossed his mind.

“Luo Feng?” A seemingly ordinary voice rang out, and all previous illusions vanished. Luo Feng could see the man with his naked eye once more.

The man in the dark red battle armor, with the scaled tail, turned his head toward Luo Feng. His forehead bore two fiery red horns, and his face was marked with strange, mysterious patterns, making him appear quite fearsome. Yet, his eyes were calm, like a vast ocean or an endless starry sky, naturally instilling tranquility in those who gazed into them.

“Luo Feng pays homage to the City Lord,” Luo Feng immediately knelt in reverence.

“Terrifying… utterly terrifying,” Luo Feng’s soul trembled. “When I first laid eyes upon him, it was as if I gazed upon the cosmic laws incarnate. Indeed, this must be the fabled state of Harmony with the Cosmic Laws! As Xiluoduo once revealed… the Divine Beast was an entity who had merged with the cosmic laws, its every motion resonating with their primordial power. Even the effigy of the Divine Beast pulsed with the essence of unified cosmic edicts! And the Lord of Chaos City… having ascended to such heights, his very being naturally emanates cosmic principles. To stand in the presence of the Chaos City Lord… is to behold with mortal eyes the supreme cosmic laws he commands.”

This was the realm.

A realm far beyond that of any Celestial Venerable, a state belonging to the absolute zenith of the boundless cosmos.

“Your performance has been quite impressive, and you’ve had many extraordinary encounters,” the Chaos City Lord said, smiling at Luo Feng.

Luo Feng listened respectfully.

Yet, deep within, he felt uneasy. It was as if the Chaos City Lord’s gaze could completely pierce through him, leaving him with no secrets at all. “No, my Mosha Clan avatar, carrying the Origin Core, had always been hidden within my World Ring. And I’ve long since refined the World Ring… If anyone tried to probe me, I would have sensed it. If anyone attempted to detect my Origin Core, I should have noticed as well. Hmm, but the Chaos City Lord’s power is truly unfathomable. It’s hard to say for certain. Still, he is the Chaos City Lord. I suppose he wouldn’t stoop to secretly inspecting my World Ring.”

“I’ve watched the video of your ascent through the Celestial Bridge. You’ve nearly comprehended all 108 essences of space,” the Chaos City Lord smiled. “To have nearly mastered all 108 spatial essences in less than 90 years since arriving in Chaos City is quite impressive.”

Luo Feng listened obediently.

“You managed to pass the 13th level. That must be due to the faint insight you gained from meditating before the colossal God-Beast statue in the Jingu Clan’s God-Beast Canyon,” the Chaos City Lord remarked.

“Yes,” Luo Feng quickly replied.

Inwardly, however, he was deeply shaken.

The Chaos City Lord’s deduction, while slightly off, was not entirely incorrect. Luo Feng had indeed repeatedly carved and studied the colossal sleeping God-Beast statue in the God-Beast Canyon. The small God-Beast statue he had obtained was impossible to replicate through carving, as even a few strokes would attract cosmic oppression. However, the sleeping God-Beast statue left behind by Xiluoduo could be copied.

“Being able to grasp even a faint insight is commendable,” the Chaos City Lord said. “Would you like to become my formal disciple?”

“Your disciple is willing,” Luo Feng bowed respectfully.

The Chaos City Lord nodded.

He was the pinnacle figure among humanity. Though talent was important, he was well aware that some might progress slowly in their cultivation yet still continuously break through, eventually becoming Celestial Venerables. Thus, unless someone was a once-in-a-million-aeon prodigy, he would not pay much attention.

Even for such rare and supreme prodigies, the Chaos City Lord would first observe and evaluate them before deciding whether to take them as his direct disciples.

“I know Zhenyan exchanged the upper portion of the ‘Seven Transformations of the Divine Soul’ for you,” the Chaos City Lord said. “And your ability to grasp even a faint insight from the God-Beast statue indicates you have considerable talent in fusing cosmic laws. However… fusing cosmic laws is thousands to millions of times more difficult than merely understanding a single law.”

“I will give you time—three thousand years,” the Chaos City Lord said.

“If within three thousand years in Chaos City, you manage to master the first layer of the ‘Seven Transformations of the Divine Soul,’ I will take you as my direct disciple,” the Chaos City Lord said, gazing at Luo Feng.
