Chapter 451: Comprehension

The City Lord’s Mansion stretched vast and boundless, with countless structures sprawling across thousands of miles within its domain.

Clad in black robes, the envoy led Luo Feng and the other eleven individuals through a grand corridor, approximately 60 meters wide and 120 meters high. Along both sides of this corridor stood towering bronze gates, each gate measuring about 160 meters in length and 120 meters in height, adorned with ancient inscriptions.

“Mother Ancestor,” “Axe,” “Dragon Walk”…

Strangely, before each colossal bronze gate stood an elderly man with a kind and gentle expression. Even more bizarre was that each of these old men looked exactly the same.

“There are fifty-two gates here, each leading to a secret chamber housing a Chaos Tablet,” the black-robed envoy smiled. “Ahead lies the entrance to the ‘Nine Heavens Chaos Tablet’ cultivation chamber. We have arrived.”

Luo Feng gazed at the massive bronze gate before him. The ancient gate, standing 120 meters tall, bore the universal cosmic script words “Nine Heavens,” evoking an involuntary sense of reverence. Beside the bronze gate stood an old man with a vertical eye in his forehead, identical in appearance to all the other guardians stationed before the gates.

“Venerable Kandri,” the black-robed envoy bowed respectfully.

“Hmm,” the three-eyed elder smiled at Luo Feng and the others. “A new batch of younglings from the Virtual Universe Company?”

“Yes.”

The envoy showed utmost respect before turning to Luo Feng and the others. “This is Venerable Kandri, the guardian of the Chaos Tablet cultivation chambers. Each of the fifty-two gates before these chambers is watched over by one of Kandri’s many avatars. Venerable Kandri has safeguarded these fifty-two chambers for over a million epochs, making him a revered figure within Chaos City.”

A wave of astonishment rippled through the group of youths. The seemingly gentle, three-eyed elder was actually the same individual whose avatars guarded each of the fifty-two cultivation chambers. As one of the Three Treasures of Chaos, the importance of the fifty-two Chaos Tablets was immeasurable. To assign one individual to guard them all with fifty-two avatars—how powerful must he be? And to have done so for over a million epochs…

Hu Yanbo, the master of the Yimo Star, had lived for only six thousand epochs.

Luo Feng and the eleven others respectfully bowed. “Venerable Kandri.”

“Hehe, such youth! Seeing you brings hope for the human race,” Kandri chuckled. “Wait a moment. The current group inside will be exiting shortly.”

“Yes,” Luo Feng and the others obediently replied.

“Unbelievable! Chaos City truly is the sacred training ground for humanity in the cosmos, filled with mighty experts and hidden prodigies. We’ve already encountered an ancient guardian who has watched over these chambers for a million epochs,” Babata exclaimed in awe. “Your teacher may be stronger than you and has lived longer, but he hasn’t encountered as many powerful beings as you have. It’s all about the circles you move in.”

After all, Hu Yanbo, the master of the Yimo Star, was a lone wanderer, rarely encountering even a single Cosmic Emperor.

Though Luo Feng was still weak, he had entered the core ranks of the Virtual Universe Company, giving him the chance to meet some of the most unfathomable peak existences among the human race.

“Venerable Kandri! Venerable Kandri!” a voice called out.

In a flash, a young ape-like humanoid appeared before the bronze gate. With a golden headband and battle boots, exuding a fierce aura, he immediately bowed respectfully to Kandri before glancing at Luo Feng and the others, his face breaking into a wide grin. “Venerable Kandri, it seems I’ve arrived just in time. I can enter with them and begin my cultivation. If I had been a moment later, I would have had to wait another seven days.”

“Oh? You’ve passed the trial?” Kandri smiled at the young ape.

“Yes! I successfully completed the sixth level trial and earned another seven days of cultivation time,” the young ape eagerly replied.

Kandri closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them again and nodding. “Indeed, you have gained an additional seven days of cultivation time.”

“Additional?”

Luo Feng, standing among the crowd, pondered. “The first time entering Chaos City grants seven days of cultivation time. Now it seems that fulfilling certain conditions and passing trials can grant additional cultivation opportunities.” How to gain further access to the Chaos Tablets was still unclear to Luo Feng and the others, but they believed they would soon find out, as they were to remain in Chaos City for thirty years.

They waited in silence.

About five or six minutes later, a deep rumbling echoed through the corridor as the massive bronze gate slowly began to open. Inside, chaotic energy currents swirled, obscuring the interior from view.

“Come out now!” Kandri called into the chamber, his voice deep and commanding.

The sound reverberated within the chamber, and soon figures emerged from the chaotic energy. Many clutched their heads in frustration. One tall, broad-shouldered youth with six eyes on his forehead cast a reluctant glance back before reluctantly leaving.

“You thirteen may now enter,” Kandri addressed the group before him. “The gate will open again in seven days. When it does, you must immediately exit. Understood?”

“Understood.”

The group nodded in unison.

“Hmph,” Kandri nodded. “Go inside.”

With hearts filled with trepidation and excitement, the thirteen individuals quickly entered the chamber.

The cultivation chamber was immense, filled with swirling chaotic energy.

Luo Feng peered into the chamber and faintly saw a colossal stone tablet shrouded in the chaotic currents. “Is that the Nine Heavens Chaos Tablet?” he thought, filled with anticipation and nervousness. The other eleven youths felt the same, except for the young ape, who confidently dashed into the depths of the chamber and immediately began his cultivation.

As they approached the Chaos Tablet, its details became clear.

It stood a hundred meters tall and nearly a hundred meters wide, inscribed with nine grand images. Along its edges were the universal cosmic script words “Nine Heavens.” Each image was identical to those seen in the corridor murals depicting the Nine Heavens Chaos Tablet, yet the feeling they evoked was vastly different.

The nine images on the Nine Heavens Chaos Tablet were familiar to Luo Feng, as he had seen the mural depictions before.

The first image showed a few scattered raindrops. Upon careful counting, there were exactly nine.

The second image depicted a gentle drizzle, with a total of thirty-six raindrops.

The third image portrayed a heavy downpour, with one hundred and eight raindrops densely packed.

The fourth image displayed a starry sky, with a planet orbited by four moons.

The fifth image showed a stellar system, with one star orbited by twelve planets, each with its own satellites.

The sixth image depicted a vast galaxy, teeming with countless stars. Luo Feng had once asked Babata to count them, but it was impossible—the image seemed to contain infinite stars, some barely visible, making it impossible to determine an exact number.

The seventh image appeared to depict a strange beast.

The eighth image showed two more peculiar beasts.

The ninth image portrayed countless strange beasts, too many to count.

While the first six images seemed to subtly convey the ultimate fundamental laws of existence, the final three images—featuring strange beasts—seemed too abstract.

Luo Feng could not perceive any fundamental laws within these final images. They seemed like nothing more than bizarre depictions of mythical creatures.

However!

The fifty-two Chaos Tablets were the most treasured artifacts of the human race across the cosmos. Mastering any one of them would easily elevate one to the rank of a Cosmic Emperor. If countless experts had recognized their value, then the seventh through ninth images must indeed contain unfathomable mysteries—mysteries that Luo Feng, due to his current limitations, could not even begin to grasp.

Though Luo Feng had previously seen the mural depictions of the Nine Heavens Chaos Tablet, seeing the real one now was an entirely different experience.

As he gazed at the first image—the Raindrop Image—his consciousness was instantly drawn into it. The nine raindrops transformed into infinite artistic expressions within his mind. Remembering that Luo Feng had three bodies, each with its own consciousness carrier—his Earthling body’s consciousness resided in the soul within his spiritual sea.

The consciousness of his Gold-Horned Beast body resided in the soul within its core.

The consciousness of his Mosha Clan clone resided in the soul within its life crystal.

Since all three were unified, their consciousnesses were interconnected.

Thus, as Luo Feng observed the image, his other two bodies within his inner space also experienced the same vision.

“Roar!” To the Gold-Horned Beast, the nine raindrops transformed into sharp hooves, whipping tails, and golden horns hurtling toward him.

The Mosha Clan clone, “Black-robed Luo Feng,” wielding a shield and blade, felt his life core gently spin, perfectly resonating with the spatial essence. To him, the nine raindrops became a series of blade techniques infused with the fundamental laws of space. As a favored child of space, his clone instinctively began practicing the sword techniques.

Meanwhile, the Earthling Luo Feng, standing before the Nine Heavens Chaos Tablet, perceived nine distinct artistic expressions within the raindrops, as if they transformed into nine golden swords launching relentless waves of coordinated attacks…

Each body, with its own strengths, perceived the same image differently.

Yet all paths converged!

The Nine Heavens Chaos Tablet was indeed one of the most treasured artifacts of Chaos City and the entire human race across the cosmos. Its profound mysteries and the fundamental laws it contained could subtly guide one’s cultivation and growth. Due to its immense value, access to it was strictly limited—each individual could only enter once upon their first arrival in Chaos City. Further access depended on one’s own talent and achievements.

Resources were limited.

Only true experts could earn multiple opportunities—each lasting only seven days!

Within the cultivation chamber, the thirteen individuals, including Luo Feng, were completely immersed in their cultivation, unaware of the passage of time.

“Boom! Boom!” The massive bronze gate rumbled open, but the thirteen remained lost in their cultivation.

“Come out now!” Kandri’s voice resonated within the chamber, directly entering each person’s mind.

“Come out now! Come out now! Come out now! Come out now!” The voice echoed louder and louder within their minds, finally snapping them from their trance. The overwhelming reverberations forced Luo Feng to clutch his head in discomfort.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! The thirteen individuals hurriedly rushed out. As they crossed the threshold, the echoing voice vanished instantly, bringing a wave of relief.

“Is it over?”

As Luo Feng stepped across the threshold, he couldn’t help but glance back at the cultivation chamber with a sense of reluctance. The swirling chaotic energy obscured the Chaos Tablet from view. At that moment, he finally understood why the previous group had left with such longing.
