Chapter 329: The Solitary Iron Rhinoceros Herd

Longso Mountain Range, a place brimming with lurking dangers.

“There’s a beast 18 kilometers to the right.”

“A beast 19 kilometers ahead, at three o’clock direction.”

Luo Feng calmly reported each data point, while the entire squad advanced at an astonishing speed. This kind of speed was simply unimaginable for most squads within the Longso Mountain Range! In this World Lord world, the range of mental energy was very limited, and using mental energy for exploration easily attracted the attention of beasts. Therefore, the usual pace was very slow.

It was normal for an interstellar apprentice mercenary exam to take one or two years.

However, Luo Feng’s squad advanced at an unusually fast pace.

“Ba Bata, having you on watch and exploration is indeed much more convenient,” Luo Feng thought to himself in admiration.

“This is equipment dismantled from the Yuen-Mo spaceship! Within a diameter of 20,000 meters, nothing escapes detection! Even World Lords cannot escape my scans, let alone these incredibly stupid beasts,” Ba Bata said proudly.

The terrain was extremely difficult to traverse.

Luo Feng and the four others dared not fly, for flying within the Longso Mountain Range was tantamount to becoming a target for all beasts! Beast swarms could easily look up and spot them. Remember, beasts could fly too. When swarms of them flew to attack, there would be no place left to escape.

After nearly two days of travel, Luo Feng’s group finally arrived at the Yaoyue Lake.

Yaoyue Lake.

An endless expanse of water, surrounded by wide open spaces. Trees had long been trampled into broken ruins, clearly indicating that large numbers of beasts frequently gathered around the lake.

“There are no beasts around,” Luo Feng frowned.

“There’s nothing we can do. We’ll just have to wait slowly,” Thunderclap God smiled. “It’s better to wait here than to rush to the next possible location where the Unicorns of Iron might appear.”

“We’ve been quite lucky since arriving in this World Lord world, ‘Thunder World.’ We haven’t had any real battles yet,” Hong said casually. Of course, the main reason for no combat was because Luo Feng had that surveillance device.

They waited patiently.

In Thunder World, during the day the sky had nine luminous orbs similar to the sun, while at night it was pitch black, with only faint rays of light. On the first night, while waiting in the forest beside Yaoyue Lake, Luo Feng and the others spotted three beasts resembling giant lizards.

On the second day, they discovered three more groups of beasts.

They even witnessed the terrifying scene of beasts killing each other.

On the sixth day, the nine orbs floated high in Thunder World’s sky.

Luo Feng and his four companions waited silently.

“We’re just waiting for the rabbit to run into the tree stump, I never thought I’d do something like this,” Thunderclap God sat on a tree branch, occasionally glancing into the distance.

“Just come down. If the Iron Unicorns arrive, I’ll notice them immediately,” Luo Feng smiled, looking up. On the ground were some prepared delicacies, all preserved very well. “Everyone!” Luo Feng’s expression turned serious. Hong, who had been sleeping nearby, and Ao Gu, who had been sitting cross-legged in meditation, as well as Tie Nanhe, who stood upright on guard, all turned their attention to him immediately.

“What’s wrong, Luo Feng?” the others looked at him.

“The Iron Unicorns have arrived,” Luo Feng’s eyes gleamed.

“Finally!”

The group stood up.

“Follow me,” Luo Feng stepped onto the Dun Tian Shuttle and led the way swiftly weaving through the forest. Although the forest was filled with dense trees and plants, Luo Feng maneuvered so skillfully that he didn’t touch a single plant. Behind him, Hong, Thunderclap God, Tie Nanhe, and Ao Gu followed rapidly. Soon, the five of them arrived near the lakeside of Yaoyue Lake.

“The Iron Unicorns are coming from that direction. They aren’t moving very fast and should arrive in about five minutes,” Luo Feng pointed ahead. “There are a total of 21 Iron Unicorns.”

Moments later.

One after another, creatures the size of trucks appeared in their field of view. Their skin, like rock, left no doubt about its toughness. Their horns, sharp like curved blades, reflected cold glints under the illumination of the nine orbs in the sky. Yet their eyes were gentle.

Iron Unicorns were essentially a kind of simple and honest beast.

Beasts were called beasts because of their low intelligence. In the universe, monsters were mainly divided into two categories: ‘Yao Beasts’ and ‘Fierce Beasts.’

Yao Beasts referred to those that possessed relatively high intelligence even at the apprentice level. Earth’s monsters belonged to the category of Yao Beasts. Once slightly matured, their intelligence was not inferior to humans. Because of their intelligence, the Yao Beast race was one of the extremely powerful races in the vast universe.

Fierce Beasts possessed strength but had low intelligence.

They did not know how to learn, and were either ferocious or gentle. Their common trait was low intelligence.

Of course, besides ‘Yao Beasts’ and ‘Fierce Beasts,’ there were also ‘Divine Beasts’ among monsters. For instance, Star Sky Beasts were known as ‘Star Sky Divine Beasts.’

“Damn, this herd of Iron Unicorns is really strong,” Thunderclap God muttered, looking at the screen on his arm, transmitting voice through his mental energy.

“It sure is strong. The five of us would find it hard to deal with them. We have to find a way to separate them. After all, we only need five horns,” Luo Feng transmitted mentally to the others.

“Separate them? These beasts are so stupid, they should be easy to fool.”

“What’s the plan?”

As Luo Feng and his four companions whispered their discussion, Luo Feng’s expression suddenly changed, and he whispered, “A human squad is rapidly approaching. They must have discovered the herd of Iron Unicorns coming to drink water.” Yaoyue Lake, being a lake without any cover, allowed the monsters at the lakeside to be seen clearly even from a distance.

A human squad appeared within their field of view.

Everyone in the squad wore identical black battle suits.

“Kill!”

Shadows burst forth at top speed, creating sonic booms as they charged directly at the group of Iron Unicorns drinking water. The 21 Iron Unicorns all looked up abruptly, and the leading Iron Unicorn leader immediately raised its head and let out a mighty and furious roar: “Hun!!”

Each human warrior remained extremely calm, pairing up to attack one Iron Unicorn each, swiftly cutting them down.

There were a total of ten squad members, and in an instant, they had already killed four Iron Unicorns.

“Nine Star-level ninth-tier, one Star-level second-tier,” Luo Feng glanced at the screen and murmured, “This squad has too many Star-level ninth-tier members. The weaker one… must be someone of significance, which is why they’ve brought so many subordinates along.” Joining the Cosmic Adventure Alliance had become a common tradition.

It should be known that over 99% of strong individuals went through this trial.

Numerous scions of noble houses regarded this mercenary apprentice trial as an obligatory rite of passage. For the sake of security, it became commonplace to be accompanied by a retinue of ninth-tier stellar subordinates. Though the ancestral decrees were originally designed to temper the young heirs, with the passage of time, the results of many such edicts inevitably strayed from the families’ genuine aspirations.

“Nine ninth-tier stellar warriors can indeed handle twenty-one Iron Unicorns,” Hong murmured.

“Damn it, after waiting so long, it’s all taken by some spoiled noble brat,” Thunderclap God muttered in frustration.

They felt annoyed.

Yet the enemy boasted nine Star-level warriors of the ninth tier, their gear gleaming with superior craftsmanship, their teamwork seamless as a well-oiled machine. What could their own ragtag squad possibly achieve? They could only stand by, powerless, and watch.

“Hmm?” Luo Feng’s eyes lit up, “Good fortune is coming.”

“Good fortune?” Thunderclap God looked puzzled at Luo Feng, “How is this good fortune?”

“There’s a chance we can get the horns we need,” Luo Feng said, watching the distance with anticipation.

“Kill!”

“Slay them all, gather the horns of the Iron Unicorns, and depart at once.” A pallid youth, gripping a slender, elongated warblade, clashed with the smallest Iron Unicorn in the herd. This young Iron Unicorn, in terms of power, barely reached the first-tier of the Stellar rank—truly no match for him.

“Yes.” A chorus of voices answered in perfect harmony—a gathering of Star-level warriors, each at the pinnacle of the ninth tier.

Blood sprayed in all directions! The air was filled with furious and indignant roars! One by one, the Iron Unicorns fell to the ground! Among this herd, the strongest barely reached the ninth-tier of the Planetary level, while the rest were even weaker. Against these nine humans, all at the ninth-tier of the Planetary level, they stood no chance—falling one after another in a merciless slaughter.

“Boom—”

The earth trembled.

“Hun!!!” A roar erupted from the nearby forest.

The ground began to quake, and the remaining five Iron Unicorns immediately roared in excitement. At this moment, from the distant forest, massive figures of Iron Unicorns began to appear.

“Bad, quick, retreat!” One of the nine black-clad subordinates immediately shouted.

“Prince, more than fifty Iron Unicorns are charging over, and the leading few are extremely powerful. Quick, retreat.”

“Quick, protect the Ninth Prince.”

“Quick.”

In an instant, one of the black-clad subordinates grabbed the Ninth Prince in his arms, and, stepping onto a streamlined, sword-like flight mental energy artifact, rapidly fled. The other eight subordinates quickly severed a few horns and then frantically followed behind in retreat.

“Hun!”

“Hun!”

A massive wave of colossal Iron Unicorns charged forth, each pair of eyes seemingly bloodshot, completely enraged. More than fifty Iron Unicorns… and these were the adult males of the herd, each one furiously trampling through the forest and land, madly pursuing the group of black-clad men.

Luo Feng’s group watched the massive herd of Iron Unicorns charging wildly to chase after the elite squad, leaving behind only the corpses of the Iron Unicorns at the original location.

“Quickly!” Luo Feng led the way in rushing out.

“Haha, so easy to get our hands on them.”

“That Ninth Prince, which empire’s prince is he from? Is it from a Cosmic Lower Civilization Empire or the Black Dragon Mountain Empire? Probably just a lower civilization empire ruling one or two star systems,” Thunderclap God muttered, as the group quickly headed toward the corpses of the Iron Unicorns. Although the group of black-clad men had cut off ten horns, there were still six corpses with horns remaining.

“Slash!” The Dun Tian Shuttle transformed into a golden swordfish, directly slicing off the horn of an Iron Unicorn’s forehead.

Hong, Thunderclap God, Tie Nanhe, and Ao Gu quickly began cutting horns as well.

“Hun!” From the herd of Iron Unicorns chasing the black-clad men in the distance, one turned its head and glared here, letting out an angry roar. Instantly, more than twenty Iron Unicorns immediately turned around and charged madly in this direction. They were filled with hatred toward the humans who dared to attack the corpses of their kin!

“Quickly.” Luo Feng urged.

“Luo Feng, 12 kilometers away, a human squad originally stationed at Yaoyue Lake is now approaching at an astonishing speed. They’re likely here to ambush you,” Ba Bata’s warning echoed in Luo Feng’s mind.
