Chapter 25: The Ranks of Martial Cultivators

Instructor Jiang Nian used his privileges as a warrior and boarded the train with Luo Feng without purchasing tickets, heading towards the main district of Jiangnan City.

Jiangnan City is divided into the main district and eight satellite cities.

The transportation between the main district and the eight satellite cities consists of trains. Ordinary citizens must reserve their tickets three days in advance to ride the trains, and the fares are extremely expensive. As for traveling from one city base to another, the prices are astronomical—entirely unaffordable for common people. Thus, among the two hundred million residents of Jiangnan City, few ever have the opportunity to leave the city base in their entire lives.

Jiangnan City Base, main district.

On the sidewalk, Luo Feng and Jiang Nian walked side by side.

“Luo Feng, can you feel the difference between the main district and our Yangzhou City?” Jiang Nian smiled and gestured around. Luo Feng looked around and shook his head, saying, “Not really. It just feels like there are more people, more vehicles, and wider roads. Otherwise, it’s pretty average.” Indeed, at first glance, there wasn’t much special about the scene.

Jiang Nian smiled slightly. “At first glance, the difference might not seem great. But soon, you’ll understand.”

“Hello?” Jiang Nian answered his phone.

“Jiang Nian, how much longer until you arrive?” An elderly man’s face appeared on the phone screen.

“Master Bai, we’ll be there within ten minutes,” Jiang Nian replied with a smile.

“Hmph, I’ve already invited the Director. Don’t mess this up,” the elderly man with graying hair said seriously.

“The Director?!” Jiang Nian was visibly surprised.

As they were talking, Luo Feng caught sight of a vast area ahead. Besides the sprawling silver-white walls, there stood a towering deep-blue skyscraper. On its façade were four massive characters visible even from miles away—Limit Martial Arts Academy!

“This is the Limit Grand Hall! This is our Limit Martial Arts Academy’s headquarters in Jiangnan City,” Jiang Nian explained.

“So many soldiers,” Luo Feng gasped in awe.

Outside the walls of the Limit Grand Hall, armed guards stood watch, each carrying real firearms. The entire compound gave off the aura of a monstrous beast, fully armed to the teeth. At the main entrance of the Limit Grand Hall, which stretched a hundred meters wide, rows of soldiers stood scanning the surroundings.

“These are our internal security forces within the Limit Martial Arts Academy,” Jiang Nian smiled. “Our academy also has the authority to maintain our own security forces.”

“Alright, let’s go in,” Jiang Nian said, leading Luo Feng toward the entrance.

“Let them through!” A one-armed man with a scar on his face waved them forward. Immediately, all the soldiers stepped back in perfect unison, a display so synchronized that Luo Feng involuntarily held his breath.

The one-armed man gave Jiang Nian a grin. “Old Jiang, it’s been a while since you last came to headquarters. Come by later and we’ll have a few drinks.”

“Sure thing,” Jiang Nian nodded with a smile, then gestured toward Luo Feng. “Luo Feng, this is your senior. Call him Uncle Lu.”

“Uncle Lu,” Luo Feng greeted respectfully. He could sense that this one-armed man was an extremely formidable warrior.

“Good lad,” the one-armed man nodded with a smile.

“No time to chat now. I’ll catch up later. Master Bai is waiting inside,” Jiang Nian said quickly, then led Luo Feng into the compound of the Limit Grand Hall. Inside the vast courtyard, it resembled a large park, complete with small bridges, flowing streams, rock gardens, and flowerbeds. The pedestrians within the compound were numerous, each giving off a unique aura.

As Jiang Nian and Luo Feng walked, Jiang Nian couldn’t help but sigh. “That Uncle Lu you just greeted? He was once my close comrade-in-arms, a brother who shared life and death with me. His missing arm was torn off by a single slap from a black-furred iron ape, a type of ape-like monster.”

Luo Feng listened silently.

“Our warriors at the Limit Grand Hall are extremely united,” Jiang Nian pointed toward the skyscraper. “See that building? That’s the headquarters of the Limit Martial Arts Academy warriors in Jiangnan City! Almost everyone entering and exiting that building is a warrior.”

“Almost all warriors?” Luo Feng was surprised.

Through the glass of the lobby on the first floor of the skyscraper, he could already see vague silhouettes of people—probably over a hundred.

“With a population of two hundred million in Jiangnan City, how could our Limit Martial Arts Academy lack warriors?” Jiang Nian chuckled. “Most of those in the first-floor lobby are just chatting and drinking. The headquarters building, from the second to the ninth floors, is where warrior-ranked fighters usually train and stay. From the tenth to the nineteenth floors, that’s where commander-ranked warriors reside. As for the twentieth floor and above… those are reserved for group meetings and conferences.”

Luo Feng, puzzled, asked, “Instructor, are warriors divided into warrior-ranks and commander-ranks?”

“Warriors are mainly divided into three ranks: warrior, commander, and the extremely rare war-god rank!” Jiang Nian explained softly. “Among them, warrior-ranked warriors are the most numerous. Many warriors remain at the warrior rank their entire lives. Warrior rank is further divided into beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Those who have just passed their evaluations are usually considered beginner-level warriors.”

“Luo Feng, your current strength is at the intermediate warrior rank,” Jiang Nian stated.

Luo Feng nodded.

So even with his current strength, he was still at the grassroots level among warriors.

“Generally, regular firearms can still kill warrior-ranked fighters.”

“But for commander-ranked warriors, firearms are usually ineffective,” Jiang Nian remarked. “For example, if you fired a heavy machine gun at a commander-ranked warrior, they could easily dodge the bullets using their reflexes and speed. So commander-ranked warriors are truly elite among warriors.”

“Although you have great talent, you’re still young—you’re just a rookie,” Jiang Nian added with a smile.

Luo Feng could only scratch his head.

He was well aware of the existence of peerless experts among warriors. For instance, the legendary warrior in the video who could slice a black-crowned golden eagle in half with a single slash—Luo Feng suspected even with his telekinetic abilities, he couldn’t even scratch such a person.

“Beyond the commander rank lies the war-god rank!” Jiang Nian’s eyes gleamed with admiration. “Now those are true war-gods! Each of them can easily walk through a hail of bullets, their speed like lightning, their reflexes astonishingly fast. Each strike from them could destroy an entire residential building. That’s a war-god—a true war-god.”

Luo Feng listened in awe.

Warrior rank… Commander rank… War-god rank!

Currently, with just his physical strength, he was only at the intermediate warrior rank. Perhaps with his mental powers, he could become much stronger—maybe even reach the commander rank.

“Instructor, is there anything beyond the war-god rank?” Luo Feng asked eagerly.

“There is.”

Jiang Nian nodded with a smile. “Even beyond the war-god rank, there are such existences in the world. Each of them possesses power capable of shaking the heavens and splitting the earth! Even nations must tread carefully when dealing with such formidable individuals. However, such people are extremely rare. Even under the Chinese government, a superpower among the five great nations, there are only two or three such invincible experts.”

Luo Feng was secretly astonished.

Beyond the war-god rank, even a superpower like China had only two or three such individuals under its command?

“That’s why warriors worldwide only classify warriors into three ranks: warrior, commander, and war-god!” Jiang Nian explained. “Of course, the global standard for evaluating strength isn’t based on your physical power, speed, or reflexes. It’s based on your battle records!”

“Battle records?” Luo Feng asked, puzzled.

“That’s right,” Jiang Nian replied. “Although Luo Feng, your current physical condition might already reach the intermediate warrior rank! However, once you officially become a warrior, your martial artist profile will still list you as a beginner warrior. Only after you’ve hunted enough monsters—sufficiently powerful ones—that meet the criteria for intermediate warriors, will you be recognized as an intermediate warrior!” Jiang Nian sighed. “After all, some people have strong physical attributes, some have excellent swordsmanship or techniques, and others are skilled in various tactics. The only true standard for determining one’s strength is their battle record!”

Luo Feng nodded in realization.

Indeed, even if two people’s physical strengths differ greatly, the weaker one might still defeat the stronger one.

“Work hard, and once you become a commander-ranked warrior, you’ll be a pride of our Yangzhou City,” Jiang Nian smiled. “The Yan Luo brothers who came to see me last time were both commander-ranked.”

“Oh,” Luo Feng nodded slightly.

If he used his mental powers, how strong would he actually be? Would he be comparable to a commander-ranked warrior? Only time would tell.

As Luo Feng and Jiang Nian conversed, they soon arrived at a three-story villa. The villa was quite spacious, and on the second-floor balcony, an elderly man with gray hair called out, “Jiang Nian, hurry up and come in.”

“Come on, follow me upstairs.”

Jiang Nian led Luo Feng quickly into the villa.
