Chapter 160: Hong and the Long Vine

In the wastelands along the shore of a mist-shrouded lake,

Vulture Li Yao, Phantom Demon Katelan, Giant Bear Kaita, and Blood Shadow Ivan stood together, all still trembling with fear as they gazed toward the fog-covered island. Nearby, floating midair, Councilor Farr also stared into the distance at the wild, rampant dance of six colossal black-purple vines piercing the heavens above the island.

“What in the world is that? How can it be so powerful?”

“It’s terrifying. Even existences beyond the level of a War God cannot match it.”

The four—Vulture Li Yao and the others—spoke in hushed, fearful tones, exchanging glances of shock and relief. If not for Councilor Farr dragging them to safety earlier, and if those black-purple vines had not been solely focused on hunting down the ‘Iceberg’ royal guard, the four of them likely wouldn’t have escaped.

Swoosh!

Councilor Farr descended.

“Thank you, Councilor Farr!” Li Yao quickly stepped forward to express his gratitude, with the other three following closely behind.

Councilor Farr looked at the four of them, his voice cold and commanding. “Hand over the Spirit Herbs you unearthed!”

Katelan, Li Yao, and the others were momentarily stunned.

Hand over the Spirit Herbs?

These Spirit Herbs had been obtained through the combined efforts of Katelan and his group. However, they had been worried that Luo Feng might call upon the elites of the Pangu Combat Academy, so they had immediately sought the aid of existences beyond War God level. Once someone else was called in to assist, naturally the Spirit Herbs would become communal property.

Just like how Luo Feng had handed over his Ten-Thousand-Year Willow Heart and Thousand-Year Willow Heart.

But unlike Luo Feng’s case… the ‘Iceberg Royal Guard’ had nearly stripped the entire island of Spirit Herbs, while Councilor Farr and his group had not obtained even one. This put Katelan and the others at a major disadvantage.

“Hmm?” Councilor Farr’s brow furrowed.

“Hand them over,” Katelan urged in a low voice. Though reluctant, Li Yao and the others had no choice but to surrender the Spirit Herbs they had acquired.

Six Thousand-Year Willow Hearts and two rare spirit herbs.

“Rest assured, I will distribute these Spirit Herbs according to each person’s contribution,” Councilor Farr said coldly. “Your aerial warship is over there. Do you wish to return to Europe now, or wait here for the other councilors?” Katelan had summoned quite a few councilors through his mentor.

Beyond War God existences were all councilors of the War God Assembly.

“We’re not in a hurry,” Katelan smiled.

“Yeah, no rush,” Li Yao quickly agreed. How could they possibly miss the chance to witness several Beyond War God existences battling for the Spirit Herbs?

After a long while,

A streak of light finally appeared in the sky, rapidly approaching and hovering near Councilor Farr. It was a sleek black disc-shaped warship, and now its hatch opened.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Three figures shot out in succession. Two of them appeared to be fair-skinned Europeans, while the third had a slightly darker complexion, resembling someone from South America. The three of them flew toward Councilor Farr with smiles on their faces. These four were none other than four existences beyond the War God level!

“Teacher!” Katelan quickly flew over.

“Look, behind us.”

“Behind!”

On the ground, Li Yao, Kaita, and Ivan were shocked and pointed toward the rear of the aerial warship, where a blood-red triangular fighter hovered silently.

Clang! The hatch opened.

“What?”

The four Beyond War God existences were stunned as they looked toward the newcomer.

It was as if the stars themselves had vanished from the sky; the entire world now revolved around just one person—a man with short black hair, wearing a black jacket and black pants. His gaze alone sent chills down their spines, extinguishing any thought of resistance. He was the sole deity of the heavens and earth!

Even Councilor Farr and the other three Beyond War God existences felt their hearts tremble.

“Greetings, First Chancellor!” The four floated midair, bowing slightly.

The newcomer was none other than Hong!

The strongest man in the world, the First Chancellor of the War God Assembly—the undisputed number one in the world!

“I noticed your warship earlier and guessed you were all here, so I didn’t rush to get ahead of you,” the black-haired man said calmly. “I won’t take advantage of you. I’ll give you a chance—go ahead and attack the island. Whatever you can get, you can keep. If you fail, just leave immediately.”

Hong’s voice was cold and commanding.

His tone carried an innate air of superiority—yet it was utterly warranted. Since the Great Nirvana Era, Hong’s might and standing had reigned unchallenged, absolute. Where the rulers of the Five Great Powers drew their dominion from the might of nations, Hong’s authority flowed from himself alone!

Hong, the Supreme Sovereign of Nirvana, reigned unchallenged over the celestial realms. His divine will shaped the cosmos, and the tides of fate flowed from himself alone.

He alone was equal to an entire superpower—perhaps even greater.

His personal power had transcended all worldly limitations.

That was why…

He had been placed on a divine pedestal, with every nation in the world cooperating with him and actively promoting the Pangu Combat Academy. In truth, Hong could indeed be considered a godlike figure. The fact that human civilization still survived today was a testament to his unparalleled contributions.

“Thank you, First Chancellor.” The four Beyond War God existences bowed slightly.

Then—

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

The four shot off like streaks of light toward the distant island, while the black-haired man simply hovered in place, silently waiting.

“This is Hong?” Katelan, Li Yao, Kaita, and Ivan stared at him with burning eyes.

To them, the Beyond War God existences like Councilor Farr were already figures of awe—individuals who could stand tall even before the heads of the HR Alliance Council, with a natural air of pride. Yet before ‘Hong,’ these four councilors were nothing but obedient children, showing the utmost respect.

Reverence!

Katelan, Ivan, Li Yao, and Kaita all felt a deep, genuine admiration. Hong represented the pinnacle of human potential—the ultimate peak!

Five minutes later,

Roars echoed from the island as four streaks of light quickly returned, hovering beneath Hong. The four Beyond War God existences were clearly injured—some pale-faced, others with blood at the corners of their mouths. They were shaken with fear. If they hadn’t listened to Councilor Farr’s warning about the terrifying vines and had instead been cautious from the start, staying at the island’s edge, they might not have merely been injured—perhaps even one or two of them would have perished.

“First Chancellor!” The four bowed respectfully.

The black-haired man glanced at them.

They bowed again, then immediately flew back toward the disc-shaped warship. No matter what, they would absolutely not set foot on that island again.

That vine-like lifeform was just too terrifying!

Swoosh!

The black-haired man flew directly toward the island, with his blood-red triangular fighter following closely behind.

Above the island,

The black-haired man hovered in midair like a deity, gazing down.

The four Beyond War God existences had just launched a sneak attack, and now no fewer than eight seemingly endless vines were lashing out in fury, shaking the entire island as if it were an earthquake.

“Oh?” The black-haired man’s eyes lit up.

Swoosh!

He descended rapidly, prompting one of the black-purple vines to lash out violently, attempting to ensnare and crush him.

“Hmm?” The black-haired man extended his right hand—a pale, powerful hand.

Puff!

Just like someone grabbing a pair of chopsticks, the black-haired man effortlessly seized the massive, endless black-purple vine. Though the vine was twenty centimeters thick, the man’s grip held it firmly, and no matter how furiously it twisted and writhed, it could not escape.

Vibrations hummed through the air as the enormous vine thrashed violently.

But it was useless.

“Black-purple, and such immense strength,” the black-haired man murmured. He raised his left hand, shaped like a blade, and lightly sliced across the vine. A ten-centimeter wound opened instantly, though it healed within two or three seconds.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Realizing it couldn’t break free, the entire island began to quake violently. One by one, black-purple vines emerged from the mist—each over two thousand meters long. One, two, three… eight, nine…

“There should be sixteen in total,” the black-haired man said with a faint smile. As even more vines surged toward him, the hundred-meter space around him instantly plunged into endless darkness. Once the black-purple vines entered this dark zone, they became trapped as if in a swamp, struggling in vain to escape.

“Correct.”

The black-haired man, holding one of the vines, examined it carefully, like a scientist studying a specimen. “Exactly as described in the ancient civilization records—it’s the Moyun Vine!”

“Our Earth actually has Moyun Vines too?”

The black-haired man smiled faintly. “That Luo Feng is quite the lucky charm. This time, I’ve struck gold. I should give him something valuable from the Spirit Herbs this time around.”

In a quiet bedroom in the Paris Base City,

Li Yao grabbed a bottle of red wine and lay back on the sofa, gulping it down like water. Half the bottle was already gone.

“Yao, there’s no need to give up like this just because we failed,” Vinita said anxiously in Chinese.

Li Yao ignored her completely, finishing the entire bottle in one go before reaching for another on the nearby table.

“Yao! Yao!” Vinita, growing desperate, snatched the second bottle away.

“There’s no hope. No hope at all,” Li Yao muttered, glancing at Vinita with a self-mocking smile, appearing drunk yet lucid.

“What do you mean, no hope? So we failed to obtain the Spirit Herbs, and failed to kill Luo Feng. Why are you acting like everything is over?” Vinita snapped angrily. “Yao, we’ve fought side by side all this time. I’ve never seen you lose your spirit before. Why are you like this now?”

Li Yao’s voice was low and weak. “That Luo Feng has already reached the peak of an Upper War God-level Mentalist.”

“What!” Vinita was shocked.

She had only heard over the phone that they had completely failed, but she hadn’t known Luo Feng had become this strong.

“So what if he’s a peak Upper War God Mentalist?” Vinita clenched her teeth. “We’ve faced worse situations before. As long as you become an existence beyond War God, won’t it be easy to deal with him?”

“It’s different.”

“It’s different,” Li Yao shook his head. “This time, the Pangu Combat Academy gained a lot of Spirit Herbs. I saw that golden-masked man carrying a bulging backpack. Luo Feng is sure to get a large share! Once he exchanges those Spirit Herbs for treasures, with the Pangu Combat Academy’s support… there won’t be many people on Earth willing to help us go after him.”

“And as for killing him, with his Mentalist abilities, he could just burrow underground, and even if I become an existence beyond War God, I might not be able to catch him.”

“Besides… can I even become an existence beyond War God?”

Li Yao’s expression was grim.

Power, influence… everything would soon be completely out of his reach, overtaken by Luo Feng!
