Chapter 1434: Defection?

When Zi Yue was clenching his teeth in fury, inside the other Sacred Universe of the two great sanctuaries in the Cosmic Sea—the Dongdi Sacred Universe—Ancestor Dongdi remained extremely calm.

Across an endless expanse of land,

Ancestor Dongdi walked alone, gazing at the countless clansmen living upon the ground.

“I didn’t expect Luo Feng to fail in killing the Boundary Beast this time,” murmured Ancestor Dongdi. “This was merely one Boundary Beast that had come out from its nest. It probably isn’t even the strongest. If even this single one was so difficult to kill… what about the others? And when the Boundary Beast King emerges in the future…”

“However, I shouldn’t ask for too much.”

“I was never the most gifted one, but I gradually became a True God and reached the Void level… Zi Yue had better fortune than me, yet his Small Universe still lags behind mine.” Ancestor Dongdi shook his head and smiled.

Recalling many events from his long cultivation journey, Ancestor Dongdi couldn’t help but smile.

“Facing the Boundary Beasts…”

“I cannot stop them myself! I can only place my hopes on Luo Feng, just as the Primordial Will does.” Ancestor Dongdi chuckled lightly. “If Luo Feng wins, I still have a chance… if he loses, it’s just that birth inevitably leads to death, and who can remain eternally prosperous? Even the ancient and powerful civilizations eventually fall.”

“Luo Feng…” Ancestor Dongdi silently wished.

Ancestor Dongdi, who had lived for countless eons, remained the calmest, while Zi Yue, who had lived a much shorter life, was restless and anxious. As for the various races across the Cosmic Sea, facing this impending catastrophe, their reactions were even more varied.

Inside the Divine Eye Race’s First Sovereign Universe,

Five True Gods of the Divine Eye Race gathered here.

“Master, we must consider the future of our race,” said one of the five True Gods, who had been anxious over the news that the Boundary Beast was difficult to kill. Nearby, among the gathered Cosmic Sovereigns who had been listening quietly, one Cosmic Sovereign finally spoke up.

The five True Gods, including Sovereign Shenyan, turned their gazes toward him.

“What do you mean, Molong?” Sovereign Shenyan frowned. Molong was a newly promoted Cosmic Sovereign, and had gained significant insights from the Jin World.

With a virtual single-eyed image behind him, Cosmic Sovereign Molong anxiously said, “Master, we belong to the first cycle era. Once this cycle ends, if we still haven’t transcended the cycle… we will be doomed to eternal annihilation!”

Everyone fell silent.

The threat of annihilation hovered over all races of the first cycle era.

“What’s the point of fighting the Boundary Beasts?” Molong continued anxiously. “Even if we win, we still must strive to transcend the cycle. Time is running out for our Divine Eye Race! Now that the Boundary Beasts are so formidable… then why don’t we follow the example of Zhenjia King and Qiuyan Ancestor?”

“Silence!”

“How dare you say such things, Molong!” Three True Gods, including Sovereign Shenyan, shouted angrily.

Molong anxiously cried, “Master—”

“Silence,” Sovereign Shenyan coldly commanded.

“Shenyan,” another voice calmly came from the Third Sovereign beside him. “Molong does have a point.”

Sovereign Shenyan turned in anger toward the Third Sovereign, but since the Third Sovereign also held high status within the race, he couldn’t force him to shut up.

“Can we even defeat the Boundary Beasts?” the Third Sovereign continued. “They represent destruction itself. Even the Primordial Will of the Universe fears them, going as far as creating the Jin World to seek a glimmer of hope. The Primordial Will has been sending messages through the three Ancestors, indicating that Luo Feng is the strongest in the Cosmic Sea. Why does the Primordial Will act this way? Because it knows that we alone cannot resist the Boundary Beasts—we can only rely on Luo Feng. Luo Feng, as a Cosmic Sovereign, is already superior to any of our True Gods. Once he becomes a True God, there is hope for success.”

Sovereign Shenyan looked at him, “You say Molong has a point, and that there is hope for the Milky Way…”

“But that hope lies in him becoming a True God,” the Third Sovereign said. “He hasn’t broken through yet, and no one knows when he will. He couldn’t even kill a single Boundary Beast. Can he really succeed against them? Even if he does become a True God, it’s still only a possibility. The only real threat to the Boundary Beasts is Luo Feng, not us. Also, the Boundary Beasts have never attacked Zhenjia King or Qiuyan Ancestor’s Small Universes.”

Sovereign Shenyan continued listening.

“If we surrender to the Boundary Beasts, they won’t attack us… and within our Small Universe, even Luo Feng and others cannot harm us. The Primordial Will of the Universe has always relied on others to act on its behalf. Haven’t Zhenjia King and Qiuyan Ancestor been doing fine all along? As long as we don’t provoke Luo Feng like the foolish Haolei Star Lord did, we won’t perish.”

The Third Sovereign continued, “We should ignore the Boundary Beast crisis and devote ourselves to cultivation, seizing this final opportunity to transcend the cycle. Once we transcend the cycle, that will be a permanent victory!”

“Our current efforts and surrender… all are for the sake of transcending the cycle in the future. If we cannot transcend the cycle, then fighting the Boundary Beasts to the bitter end is just a joke.” said the Third Sovereign.

Sovereign Shenyan looked around.

Silence filled the air.

Many of the present Cosmic Sovereigns shared this view, while others still believed they should fight the Boundary Beasts. Looking at each of them, and the other four True Gods, Sovereign Shenyan could tell their thoughts from their eyes.

Some opposed, some agreed.

“Although I think surrendering to the Boundary Beasts is not appropriate,” the Sixth Sovereign said in a low voice, “what the Third Brother said does have some merit.”

“Shenyan, you decide.”

“We will follow your lead.”

Sovereign Shenyan frowned painfully and waved his hand, “All of you leave. Let me think this through carefully.”

“The Boundary Beasts are just too powerful. It’s extremely difficult to truly kill them! If the Boundary Beasts really won’t attack us, we have no reason to fight them.”

“But the real fear is that the Boundary Beasts may refuse to accept us, since they feed on the essence of Small Universes… accepting us would mean they lose a source of essence.”

“We may surrender, but they might not accept us. If I had the strength of the Milky Way Lord, and were willing to surrender, the Boundary Beasts would surely be thrilled to accept.”

“The Milky Way Lord must succeed,” Murua True God stood within his Small Universe, gazing at his fellow clansmen in the distance, silently praying.

“No wonder the Primordial Will believes in the Milky Way Lord. Given the current circumstances, no one can stop the Boundary Beasts, and only the Milky Way Lord still stands a chance.” Within the Primordial Universe, the True Gods of the Yao Race gathered together. As natives of the Primordial Universe, they dared not even consider surrendering to the Boundary Beasts.

Clearly,

The Primordial Universe and the Boundary Beasts were enemies.

Surrendering to the Boundary Beasts meant becoming enemies of the Primordial Universe. They still had at least two cycles of life left—they didn’t want to become enemies of the Primordial Universe!

The Cosmic Sea was filled with uncertainty.

After all, most races in the Cosmic Sea had no inherent enmity with the Boundary Beasts. If the Boundary Beasts were willing to accept them and not attack, then naturally many races would consider surrendering, given the slim hope of defeating them.

However, races from the Primordial Universe era had many concerns.

In the distant Ancestor Palace,

The three Ancestors had all received messages from the Primordial Will.

“Boundary Beasts… servants…”

“Difficult…”

“Disaster…”

Message after message arrived. After a long while, the three Ancestors opened their eyes.

“There must be many races considering surrendering to the Boundary Beasts now,” the Young Ancestor sneered. “But how can those foolish beings understand… once they become servants of the Boundary Beasts, that will be the beginning of true disaster!”

Beside him, the Elder Ancestor said, “The Primordial Will has instructed us to spread this message, so these True Gods won’t regret it later. Regardless, the races of the other two cycle eras in the Cosmic Sea are still children born from the Primordial Universe.”

“There’s no need to worry too much,” the Dual-Faced Ancestor said. “The Primordial Will has already informed us that even if they wish to become servants of the Boundary Beasts, it won’t be easy. After all, the Boundary Beasts will eventually devour the essence of Small Universes. If a surrendering True God is not strong enough to be of use to the Boundary Beasts, why would the Boundary Beasts give up a Small Universe essence for them?”

Surrendering would be difficult.

Even if they did surrender, they would surely regret it, and it would lead to catastrophe.

The three Ancestors immediately began spreading the message. Since their Ancestor Religion had a group of True Gods, it was easy to spread the news throughout the Cosmic Sea. Once the message spread, many races that had been wavering were frightened. Although they suspected this might be a deception by the Primordial Will, they now had serious reservations.

They would not easily take the gamble!

“The Primordial Will is too impatient,” Zuo Shanke sat on the outer wall of the Cosmic Vessel, holding a communication token, shaking his head. “What difference does it make whether those True Gods live or die? When the real great disaster comes, when the Boundary Beasts finally reveal their terrifying side… those True Gods will understand it is a real catastrophe, one that cannot be escaped!”

“But I wonder… when will my disciple finally break through to become a True God?”

Zuo Shanke showed concern on his face. “Although that Boundary Beast temporarily disappeared, now that it has begun, more will surely follow. The upcoming trials will be even harsher. If Luo Feng doesn’t become a True God soon…”

As news poured in from outside, Luo Feng was aware of all the changes happening in the world, yet he remained calm.

He had never considered surrendering to the Boundary Beasts.

Because from the clues he had gathered in the Jin World, no civilization had ever surrendered to the Boundary Beasts. Clearly, surrendering likely meant exactly what the Primordial Will had conveyed… it would be a catastrophe.

“I’m back.”

Luo Feng stood inside the Star Tower, gazing outside. In the distance, he could already see the endless membrane walls of the Primordial Universe, though the chaotic currents could no longer obscure his vision.

This was the first time Luo Feng had returned to the Primordial Universe via the Star Tower since the appearance of the Boundary Beasts, because he had to deliver the ‘Boundary Beast blood’ to the Infinite Abyss Sea. The Infinite Abyss Sea possessed the innate ability of ‘Creation’ and could study and deeply explore the life structure chart.

“I hope this will help me break through and become a True God,” Luo Feng wished.
