The Insect race, the Demon race, the Mechanical race, and the other top six powers had temporarily formed a coalition army, but it was a very loose alliance. At its core, they remained divided into six distinct factions.
The Free Alliance, however, was a newly formed super-alliance, very stable and established with the intention of existing permanently. It was similar to the Northern Border Alliance, but vastly more powerful. Because it was meant to exist forever, its unity was naturally much stronger.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh~~~” Golden waves surged through space, having long engulfed the surrounding area. Some stars and planets were like mere grains of sand within them, yet remained unharmed.
In the endless golden waves, there was an island.
On this island, rows of huge thrones were arranged in a circle. Each throne was either occupied by a mighty beast or a powerful being. They belonged to various lifeforms—blood-flesh, energy, metal, rock, plant, and more—each exuding a mighty aura.
“Everyone,” a towering purple figure sitting on a deep purple throne spoke, his voice reverberating through every inch of space around them, “from this day forward, the Free Alliance shall officially stand in the Primordial Universe!”
“The Free Alliance exists for survival, for freedom!”
“Each of the clans here are independent clans. The strongest among us has only six Cosmic Sovereigns. Most clans have merely one Cosmic Sovereign. Alone, we are weak before the two great factions. If we join the coalition army, we must fight even at the risk of perishing, yet even if there are rewards after the war, we may not receive much. If we join the human faction, we risk retaliation from the coalition army after the war.”
“We are also clans.”
“We are also part of the Primordial Universe.”
“We don’t even have the basic freedom to remain neutral and live peacefully!”
“Who is willing to accept that?”
Iska, the island’s ruler, looked around. Clearly, each Cosmic Sovereign slightly nodded, recalling their difficult predicament from just days ago.
“I, although a Cosmic Overlord, know that even a single Cosmic Overlord cannot change the tide of this war between the two factions. I, too, am unwilling.” Iska continued, “We struggle in the vast universe, fight through life and death—for what? For what we desire, for what we hold most dear!”
“For our pursuits! For our protections! And the premise of all that… is freedom, the most basic freedom! Without the freedom to make our own choices, what is there to protect? What is there to pursue?”
“Therefore… the Free Alliance was born!”
Iska’s eyes gleamed with passion, “With the Free Alliance established, even those Cosmic Sovereigns who could not come in person have sent their avatars. Our Free Alliance now has 298 mighty clans, with a total of 433 Cosmic Sovereigns! Once united, neither the coalition nor the human faction can stand against us!”
“The humans have will-impact treasures, and both factions have palace-type supreme treasures. But what of that?”
“Once a will-impact treasure is exposed, its weaknesses become known.”
“And as for palace-type supreme treasures? Just ten or twenty Cosmic Sovereigns working together can easily resist the suction of the Black Prison Tower, the Female Emperor’s Palace, or the Star Tower.”
“And even in the future…”
“Even if humans grow stronger, how much can they grow? The human race currently has less than 20 Cosmic Sovereigns. Even if they reach 100 in the future, or even 300 with the revival of ancient civilizations… what then? The Free Alliance already has over 400 Cosmic Sovereigns, and that number will only grow with time. No matter how strong humans become in the future, we will always have the power to defend ourselves!”
“As long as we remain united and cohesive.”
“Then it is certain—no one can stand against us, neither now nor in the future!”
“Therefore, this war between the coalition and the human faction is not a crisis, but an opportunity for the Free Alliance—an opportunity to grow stronger.” Iska’s voice echoed in the ears of every Cosmic Sovereign, stirring the desires hidden in their hearts.
They, too, had desires.
They, too, had aspirations!
But before, they lacked the strength to claim much. Now, all they needed to do was look around, see the countless thrones, and behold the mighty figures of over 400 Cosmic Sovereigns, and they would feel full confidence! What an immense power it was! With such power, they deserved to gain more!
…
As time passed,
More and more independent clan Cosmic Sovereigns who had sided with the humans began to defect.
The same happened in the coalition army.
After half a month…
Finally, no more Cosmic Sovereigns defected. At this point, the number of mighty clans in the Free Alliance had risen to 298, and the number of Cosmic Sovereigns had reached 433. This force left both the coalition and the human faction shocked and under immense pressure.
…
In the demon race territory, on Xueya Star.
The minds of six Cosmic Overlords, along with avatars of Star River Sovereign, Black Lotus Sovereign, and Liu Lan Star Sovereign, gathered here.
“Even with some of the Cosmic Sovereigns who have sided with us, our combined forces of the six factions… many independent clan Cosmic Sovereigns have defected during this time. Our coalition army now has less than 400 Cosmic Sovereigns! Even with a few Cosmic Overlords, we barely match the Free Alliance.”
“And our vassal clans’ loyalty is uncertain. Even in war, some must remain in their micro universes to prevent betrayal at critical moments.”
“Therefore, the actual combat power we can deploy is actually inferior to that of the Free Alliance.”
“What should we do?”
“Should we accept their conditions?”
The highest echelons of the coalition army looked at each other. The Free Alliance had indeed made demands.
The conditions were simple—
1. In the future, if ancient civilization inheritances are obtained from the human race, they must be shared without question.
2. The Free Alliance must be given ‘two supreme treasures,’ and then the Free Alliance will directly join the coalition army.
“Two supreme treasures? The Free Alliance dares to ask for that much. This war isn’t just for us—it also benefits them in the future. And yet they still demand two supreme treasures from us!”
“Isn’t that obvious? The same conditions would naturally make the Free Alliance more willing to join the human faction. If they join the human faction, the humans will surely win! And the human faction can also provide them with ancient civilization inheritance experiences… so they naturally prefer to join the human faction. Their outrageous demand is just a ploy!”
“Right, they must have made similar demands to the humans and are waiting for their response.”
“Supreme treasures… the Northern Border Alliance, the Prisoner race, and the Crystal race possess none. Only our Demon race, the Insect race, and the Mechanical race hold supreme treasures. We merely have four in total! Hand over two of them? What a ridiculous notion.”
“Wait.”
“If the humans refuse, then we can negotiate better with the Free Alliance. These conditions can be lowered!”
…
The coalition army was helpless, and the human faction was in an even worse situation.
“We need to discuss this internally among our human race. We will respond once we have a decision.” Lord Hunchun said.
“Then the Free Alliance will wait for your response, Lord Hunchun.”
A figure resembling flowing water soon transformed into a streak of light and departed from this Primordial Secret Realm.
Moments later—
In the main hall, the human race’s Cosmic Sovereigns gathered.
“The Free Alliance’s envoy has already come,” Lord Hunchun said directly, “their demands are as we expected—detailed ancient civilization inheritance experiences from Cosmic Sovereign to Cosmic Overlord, and even to the peak of Cosmic Overlords! They demand we give them part of it first before they will join, and after the war, we must give them the rest.”
“This is the first scenario.”
“The second scenario is that at the very least, we must give them the ancient civilization inheritance experiences from Cosmic Sovereign to Cosmic Overlord! Only then will they remain neutral. Otherwise, they will join the coalition army.”
As Lord Hunchun spoke, the hall immediately erupted with angry voices.
“These independent clans dare to make such demands!”
“Such audacity!”
“How could they not be bold? With so many Cosmic Sovereigns behind them, they naturally have confidence.”
“They demand ancient civilization inheritance experiences from Cosmic Sovereign to Cosmic Overlord just to remain neutral!” At once, the human Cosmic Sovereigns were filled with rage.
But what could they do?
The initiative was in the Free Alliance’s hands!
“I’ll delay the response for now, no need to rush,” Lord Hunchun said, “let’s see if there’s any chance of a breakthrough!”
The humans were indeed reluctant to easily hand over the experiences. Even with “simplified ancient civilization experiences,” they had to give the Free Alliance some to examine. Only if they found it valuable would they help. But giving them something valuable would essentially be helping them grow stronger. The Free Alliance was already powerful; once they gained some experience, they would become even stronger!
“Let’s not rush.”
“This is also the most critical moment. It’s time to reveal our human race’s final secret to all of you.” Lord Hunchun looked around at every Cosmic Sovereign present.
“Final secret?”
The hall fell silent.
Luo Feng and the others were shocked.
“Chaos, what secret does our human race still have?”
“Senior Brother!”
“Chaos!”
Everyone was confused, after all, they were already the highest echelon of the human race.
Lord Hunchun gazed at Luo Feng, the Dark Sovereign, the Huang Jian Sovereign, and the others, speaking slowly, “In ancient times, Yuanzu roamed the Cosmic Sea, utterly invincible. Later, he chose to embark on a perilous path. Aware of the dangers ahead, he first waited until Ju Fu achieved a breakthrough to become a Cosmic Overlord, then left behind the ultimate safeguard for our human race before finally setting out on that journey… In the end, Yuanzu was eternally sealed by the essence of the Primordial Universe.”
Luo Feng and the others’ eyes lit up.
“I have always guarded the Primordial Secret Realm, which is the last line of defense for our human territory. Luo Feng, Dark, Penggong, you all fight outside, while I remain here… if I had no means, how could I possibly guard this place?” Lord Hunchun said, “At this crucial moment, it’s time for you all to know this most important secret.”
“Follow me.” Lord Hunchun turned around.
Luo Feng and the others exchanged glances, unable to hide their excitement, and followed Lord Hunchun closely.
