Chapter 973: Capturing Two Alive

The only Destruction Demon who remained conscious had long since reached the Ninth Level, his mind and will honed to rival that of a Ninth-Level Chaos Realm cultivator. That was why he and another were leading the team to protect ‘General Mogo.’

“No, no.” The Destruction Demon waved his hand, first storing his two companions into a spatial treasure, then flashed toward the hall with blinding speed.

Though Dongbo Xueying immediately unleashed the Flower of Destruction, the distance of a mere mile was nothing to a Ninth-Level Destruction Demon—he arrived in an instant. Xueying’s Flower of Destruction was just a fraction too slow.

“Store.” The demon swiftly collected the unconscious General Mogo into his spatial treasure.

Then, the black nine-petaled flower descended.

It wrapped around him completely, layer upon layer—six flowers in total, each larger one encasing the smaller, trapping him at the very center.

Simultaneously, another nine-petaled flower enveloped the other two Destruction Demons still trapped in the illusion.

“Good.” Dongbo Xueying remained composed.

Of the six Destruction Demons—

The two trapped in illusions were already at his mercy.

As for the Ninth-Level demon and the three he had rescued, they were now ensnared within the six-layered Flower of Destruction, with no hope of escape. His illusions had already saturated the entire area.

“Boom—”

Behind Dongbo Xueying, a massive crimson Vermilion Bird of Illusion materialized, its enormous wings unfurling as a scarlet mist spread in all directions. The illusions, amplified by his ancient cultivation heritage, surged forth in relentless waves, the red haze also enveloping the still-conscious Destruction Demon, who had now revealed his true form—a towering golden-armored fiend with a single horn.

“Dongbo Xueying!” The horned golden-armored demon snarled, his sharp horn gleaming as he roared in fury.

He was enraged. Desperate.

He despaired for his own fate—and for General Mogo’s. Protecting the general was his mission, yet the overwhelming illusions forced him to devote most of his willpower just to resist. In his view, among the golden-armored Destruction Demons, only a handful could withstand such illusions.

“Die.” Dongbo Xueying stepped forward, collecting the thousands of innocent cultivators already lost in the illusions. With a thought, the Flowers of Destruction began their annihilation.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The petals encasing the horned demon collapsed inward, disintegrating even as new flowers bloomed to replace them.

One after another, they crumbled—only to be reborn anew.

The horned golden-armored demon endured the relentless assault, howling as wounds tore across his body, only to heal again and again.

Inside the spatial treasure, the three rescued Destruction Demons—including General Mogo—stood in stunned silence, now free of the illusions.

“What… happened?”

“Just now, we…”

They exchanged bewildered glances.

“Whoosh.”

A streak of golden light descended, materializing into the horned demon’s avatar. He swept his gaze over them and growled, “Dongbo Xueying has discovered us. All three of you were trapped in illusions.”

“Illusions?” The three of them seethed with fury. According to intelligence, Dongbo Xueying’s ‘Flower of Destruction’ was devastating—once ensnared, even a Ninth-Level Destruction Demon could not escape.

“There’s no escape,” the horned demon said grimly. “No hope. His illusions completely counter General Mogo. And by now, the cultivators’ Cosmos Gods are surely on their way. Of the six of us… only I remain conscious, and even my strength is diminished. I can’t break his Flowers of Destruction—I’m only sustaining more injuries.”

“No! Impossible!” General Mogo roared, revealing his true form—his body covered in fine golden scales, his head crowned with three forward-curving black horns. “I cannot die here. I refuse!”

Since his birth, he had been revered, even by the Kings themselves. He stood above nearly all other golden-armored fiends!

His time in the cultivators’ world had been even more glorious—devouring lives with abandon, growing stronger by the day. He had believed he would reach the Ninth Level, perhaps even ascend to become a King. He had ambition—with his talent, he might have become the mightiest of Kings.

But now, Dongbo Xueying had arrived—and shattered everything.

“End yourselves,” the horned demon said coldly. “If the cultivators capture us, they will extract our secrets. If you doubt me, look outside.”

The space within the treasure distorted, revealing the battle beyond—the horned demon’s true form, battered and bleeding, still fighting desperately within the crushing embrace of the black flowers.

“It’s over.”

“Dongbo Xueying…”

Two of the golden-armored demons growled—then let their bodies dissolve into nothingness.

“No! My Shadowless talent will save me!” General Mogo refused to yield. His form flickered, vanishing completely as he shifted into pure intangibility.

“If you go out there, he will capture you alive!” the horned demon shouted in desperation.

But General Mogo was already gone.

He refused to accept defeat. His talent was peerless—he was certain his earlier failure was due to not using it. If he could just escape the spatial treasure and teleport immediately, the Flowers of Destruction would be powerless to stop him.

“I will escape. I must!” General Mogo phased through the spatial treasure, emerging outside—only to be instantly ensnared by the illusions still saturating the battlefield.

He had no resistance. Not even a shred.

“Damn it!”

The horned demon watched in fury as General Mogo’s body materialized beside him, unconscious once more.

“Then die.” The horned demon dissolved into golden light, surging into General Mogo’s form. Just as cultivators could slay one another, so too could the golden-armored fiends. To prevent the general from falling into enemy hands alive, the horned demon annihilated his soul—and though his body crumbled, his indestructible scales remained.

“Rumble—”

Space trembled in the distance.

“Pity. They captured two after all.” The horned demon chose self-destruction rather than surrender.

“Xueying, how did it go?” Void Primogenitor, a black-robed, green-haired man, appeared with a smile.

“Found six Destruction Demons. Four dead, two captured.” Dongbo Xueying grinned, retrieving the horned demon’s spatial treasure—only to find the other two had already erased themselves. As expected.

Soon, the Witch Ancestor and Blade Emperor arrived.

“Two captured?” They examined the unconscious golden-armored fiends—one at the Eighth-Level peak, the other at the Ninth Level.

“Such terrifying illusions…” Even as Dongbo Xueying retracted his illusions, the residual effects made the Witch Ancestor and Blade Emperor pale in shock.

They had never encountered illusions of this magnitude.

Though there were other ancient cultivators skilled in illusions, none could compare to Dongbo Xueying.
