Above, a mouth far larger than the entire city took a single gulp, its primary target being Dongbo Xueying. Yet, the mere aftershocks of its attack were enough to completely annihilate the Yuefeng Kingdom. Prior to this, countless lives within the kingdom had already been ensnared in Dongbo Xueying’s illusion. Thus, when death came, they remained within the dreamscape, spared from any suffering.
“Buzz.” Trembling with fear, Dongbo Xueying wasted no time activating his two secret treasures.
The Twelve Yuan Pearl Bracelet and the Three-Colored Heavy Clouds were both unleashed.
Layer upon layer of hazy light shields enveloped Dongbo Xueying—twelve in total! His body radiated a golden glow, and a blue halo of protection shimmered around him. Clearly, he had pushed his defensive measures to their absolute limit in an instant.
“Hiss—”
While the massive ‘mouth’ appeared to be the main threat, two enormous silver-white hands stealthily emerged from the void, reaching toward him.
Yet, though Dongbo Xueying seemed to stand in midair, his true form was concealed within an illusory world. The silver-white hands could only forcibly penetrate this illusion. When they struck the twelve-layered hazy shields, the supposedly unstoppable killing move barely managed to shatter the outermost layer.
“Die!”
The pair of silver-scaled hands raged, striking repeatedly.
“Go!”
Dongbo Xueying dared not hesitate. His mastery over the void allowed him to ‘sense’ the presence of a colossal monstrosity lurking within the void. It resembled a cocoon, and the enormous mouth in the sky was merely one of its many features—the two silver-scaled hands were just the foremost of its twelve appendages.
This was an unspeakably hideous creature, and the mere sight of it filled Dongbo Xueying with instinctive dread. He understood, deep down, that this fear signified a genuine threat to his life. Against such a monster, his own strength was insufficient.
Fortunately, he possessed two external secret treasures! Even against the likes of the Realm Ancestor or the Witch Ancestor, he could hold out for a moment or two. Against this monstrosity, he could endure slightly longer.
“Never thought I’d encounter a Cosmic God here… but at least I’ve stumbled upon a big fish.” Without further hesitation, Dongbo Xueying willed the surrounding void to distort. With a single step, he vanished into the twisted space.
“Ultra-long-range escape?”
The massive creature seethed with fury but retreated just as swiftly. It knew that once exposed, it wouldn’t be long before other Cosmic Gods from the cultivators’ side arrived.
In less than a breath’s time, the void trembled once more.
A black-robed man with emerald hair materialized, his gaze calm as he surveyed the surroundings. This was the Void Ancestor, who had rushed here upon receiving Dongbo Xueying’s message.
He was the fastest to arrive.
Other Cosmic Gods would need assistance from Chaos Realm experts capable of ultra-long-range teleportation. The Yuefeng Kingdom was no special landmark—without spatial markers, such teleportations would suffer significant deviations. The time lost in messaging, coordinating, and correcting course would be substantial.
The Void Ancestor, however, could traverse vast distances instantly. Yet even he was too late—the enemy had fled too quickly.
In truth, the Void Ancestor understood that even if he had arrived in time, stopping a ‘King’ of the Annihilation Demons would have been impossible.
“Damn it.”
His eyes fell upon the devastated land below, where countless lives had been extinguished in an instant. The Void Ancestor, ever compassionate toward mortal beings, felt a deep pang of sorrow.
“Damn these Annihilation Demons,” he muttered, his gaze darkening with killing intent.
—
Elsewhere, on a desolate stretch of land bordered by distant mountain ranges, a lone figure walked.
The former ruler of the Yuefeng Kingdom frowned slightly, murmuring to himself, “I was discovered?”
Among the infiltrating ‘Kings,’ he was the first to be exposed.
“How unlucky. That Dongbo Xueying suddenly cast an illusion covering the entire Yuefeng Kingdom—and me along with it.” The Yuefeng King gritted his teeth. Dongbo Xueying’s arrival had been abrupt, his illusion deployed before any evasion was possible. Normally, he wouldn’t have bothered hiding from a mere Chaos Realm cultivator.
He had been confident in his concealment abilities. Yet Dongbo Xueying’s illusion ensnared every weak lifeform in the kingdom. As a Cosmic God, he naturally remained unaffected—but his immunity had betrayed his presence.
“Was he investigating me? Did I slip up somewhere?” The Yuefeng King shook his head. “No. If I had, they would have sent an entire group of Cosmic Gods to trap me.”
“Then why cast the illusion?”
“Perhaps… he was merely testing his techniques?” The Yuefeng King considered this plausible. Cultivators often wandered the world, refining their Dao. Experimenting with illusions on an entire kingdom wasn’t unheard of.
“Just my luck to be discovered like this,” he grumbled. Among all the ‘Kings,’ he was the first to be exposed.
—
Within a hidden chamber of the Void Fortress, the gathered Cosmic Gods of the cultivators’ faction—most present as avatars—fixed their attention on Dongbo Xueying.
“A Cosmic God-level Annihilation Demon? You’re certain?” The Blade Sovereign scrutinized him.
Though several Cosmic Gods had investigated the ruins of the Yuefeng Kingdom and confirmed the traces of a terrifying battle, the flow of time had been disrupted, preventing any retroactive observation. Thus, they could only rely on Dongbo Xueying’s account.
“Without a doubt,” Dongbo Xueying affirmed gravely.
The sheer power of that monstrosity…
Even the Black Emperor or the Chaos Hall Master couldn’t pressure him to such an extent. Yet that creature had instilled in him a palpable sense of mortal peril.
“This is its true form.” With a wave of his hand, Dongbo Xueying projected an image of the grotesque entity—a cocoon-like body, a hideous head, twelve arms, and a body covered in dense silver scales.
“It disguised itself as the Yuefeng King.” Another projection appeared, this time of a humanoid figure.
“Him?”
“He participated in the last assault on the spatial barrier.”
The Blade Sovereign, the Ancestral Demon Mountain, and others paled in recognition.
They had clashed with this very ‘King’ before. During the earlier siege, this Cosmic God had been among the attacking forces—until the immensely powerful ‘Jun Emperor’ appeared, after which the other Kings had withdrawn, only occasionally lending minor support.
“During the retreat, he ceased attacking.”
“After the Jun Emperor’s arrival, several Kings held back.”
“And now he’s within the Sevenstar Sea Sacred Realm?”
The Cosmic Gods exchanged grim looks.
This confirmed their fears: Annihilation Demons of Cosmic God level had indeed infiltrated their world. While they had suspected as much, now they had irrefutable proof. Worse still, one of the ‘Kings’ who had previously assaulted their defenses was now lurking within their territory.
This meant only one thing—the enemy had breached their spatial barriers undetected.
