Chapter 859: The End of the Scroll Reveals the Dagger

Boom~~~~ The rotating Sixfold Dharma Disc suddenly had its outermost three discs—used for offensive transformation—dissipate instantly, leaving only the original three dark Dharma Discs. These three dark discs enveloped the mist-like body of the Undying City Lord and swiftly descended along the void staircase. Though Dongbo Xueying’s flying daggers continuously bombarded the three dark discs, they failed to shatter them.

In the blink of an eye, the Undying City Lord reached the bottom of the void staircase and landed on the ground before rasping, “Impressive, truly impressive. I never expected to encounter someone in this treasure vault who could overpower me. Shall we call it a truce?”

Dongbo Xueying glanced down coldly, snorted, and turned his attention to the stone gate before him. Countless violet-light daggers surged forth in an unending barrage against the gate.

“He stopped.”

“This white-haired, white-robed man actually has the upper hand?” The gray-robed woman, the Heavenly Sword Sect Master, and the burly man were all slightly astonished. Though the Undying City Lord had retreated upon realizing the unfavorable situation without engaging in a true life-or-death battle, the outcome was clear—even after unleashing his infamous “Undying Dharma Discs,” he had been forced to retreat. This made them all wary of Dongbo Xueying.

Even the Heavenly Sword Sect Master thought to himself, “Just what is Feixue’s background? He couldn’t possibly have just broken through to the Unity Realm as he claimed. How could someone who just advanced be this strong? Judging by his power, he doesn’t seem to be from any of the Ninecloud Continent’s dominant factions. He must be from the outside world.”

The outside world—that meant one of the Three Sacred Realms or the Two Great Sects. In that case, his strength wasn’t surprising at all.

The Ninecloud Continent was, after all, a small place. The Three Sacred Realms and the Two Great Sects had countless experts who had reached the fifth level of the Star Tower. Take the Voidsky Palace, for example—they followed an elite strategy, accepting only a handful of disciples, yet they had dozens of Inner Hall Elders. And the Voidsky Palace was merely one sacred land within the “Sevenstar Sea Sacred Realm,” one of the Three Sacred Realms.

“Regardless, he did save my Heavenly Sword Mountain and my life,” the Heavenly Sword Sect Master mused silently. “But with his strength and background, I should probably keep my distance from now on. Getting involved in the conflicts of the Three Sacred Realms and the Two Great Sects would likely reduce me to dust in an instant.”

“Boom!” The burly man in the distance suddenly swung his axe, finally shattering the stone gate.

The broken gate revealed a spatial entrance.

The burly man laughed heartily. “While you two were busy fighting, I took a small advantage. I’ll go ahead.” With that, he stowed his axe and strode through the entrance, vanishing from sight.

“To the second level?” Dongbo Xueying intensified his efforts, sending a relentless barrage of flying daggers infused with weapon-qi.

Meanwhile, the Undying City Lord had returned to the end of his own void staircase and was also attacking his stone gate. Though he continued his assault, he remained vigilant against Dongbo Xueying, ready to flee at a moment’s notice if the latter turned hostile.

“Hmph.”

Dongbo Xueying glanced at the Undying City Lord in the distance but paid him no further mind, focusing instead on his own gate.

Boom—

A swarm of flying daggers pierced through the stone gate, revealing the spatial entrance beyond.

Dongbo Xueying stepped through immediately, feeling the space shift around him as the scenery transformed.

Before him lay a desolate plain.

Scattered across the plain were massive meteorites, each towering like a small mountain, roughly a hundred zhang tall.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!” In the distance, the burly man, now enlarged to about a hundred zhang tall, wielded his black iron axe with furious strikes against one of the meteorites. Each swing sent fragments flying, but the meteorite remained largely intact.

Dongbo Xueying glanced back.

There was no sign of the spatial entrance he had come through, but this was expected—each shattered gate’s entrance allowed only one person to pass before vanishing.

Thus—

In the first level of the treasure vault, one could escape through the tower’s main gate.

But in the second or third level, one had to remain for three full days before being teleported out.

“These meteorite mountains are tough to break,” the burly man remarked loudly.

“Go.”

Dongbo Xueying casually selected the nearest meteorite mountain and unleashed a storm of flying daggers, each wreathed in weapon-qi. The countless violet streaks of light concentrated their assault on a single spot, producing a series of thunderous impacts. Though fragments scattered, only a shallow dent formed, causing Dongbo Xueying to frown slightly.

According to the intelligence, one had to completely destroy a meteorite mountain, reducing it entirely to powder. Merely breaking it into eight or ten pieces wouldn’t suffice. Only when it was fully pulverized would a spatial entrance appear, granting access to the vault’s highest level—the third level, where the most precious treasures lay.

These were items even the Ninecloud Emperor would consider valuable. A single treasure tower typically held only two or three such objects in its third level.

But reaching it was no easy feat.

Shattering a meteorite mountain into chunks was relatively manageable, but reducing it entirely to powder was far more difficult—a feat usually achievable only by Chaos Realm experts. For those in the Unity Realm, one typically needed strength equivalent to the sixth level of the Star Tower to accomplish this.

Of course—

Even failure yielded rewards, as each meteorite mountain concealed numerous treasures. Breaking it apart piece by piece would gradually reveal these treasures.

“Whoosh.”

As Dongbo Xueying studied the meteorite mountain, another figure appeared in the second level of the treasure vault—the Undying City Lord.

“All three of them have gone to the second level. Do you plan to join them?” the Heavenly Sword Sect Master called out from his void staircase.

“Once you enter the second level, you’re trapped for three days with no means of escape. The Undying City Lord and the others might have ways to survive, but us? We’d just be walking to our deaths,” the gray-robed woman replied, shaking her head. Though proud, she had wisely chosen to avoid the second level after witnessing Dongbo Xueying’s clash with the Undying City Lord.

The Heavenly Sword Sect Master chuckled but grew cautious.

After all, he had no intention of entering the second level either. The next three days would require vigilance against this gray-robed woman.

Inside the second level of the treasure vault.

Shortly after the Undying City Lord arrived—

“Boom!” The burly man, who had been swinging his black iron axe, suddenly stowed it away. With a mighty stomp that shook the ground, he lunged forward with terrifying speed. Dongbo Xueying, already on guard, paled at the display of raw power—this was the treasure vault’s space, yet a single step had made the earth tremble. The man’s strength far surpassed his own, likely by more than tenfold!

The burly man’s speed was equally staggering—Dongbo Xueying estimated it to be at least fifty percent faster than his own.

“Where did this expert come from?” Dongbo Xueying was stunned. He had suspected the burly man was no ordinary figure, but this still exceeded his expectations.

“Break!”

The burly man’s thick arms suddenly erupted with dazzling golden light, each adorned with carvings of grotesque creatures. Dongbo Xueying’s pupils contracted—he recognized them. These were depictions of the Void’s edge-dwelling Destruction Demons. Each of the man’s arms bore eight such carvings, imbuing them with a power that sent a sharp sense of danger through Dongbo Xueying. Clad in weaponized gauntlets, the man’s fists struck like twin celestial pillars crashing down.

“Hahaha, die! Did you really think I’d concede so easily?” Nineteen Undying City Lords reappeared, swiftly summoning six dark Dharma Discs once more. Though Dongbo Xueying had held the upper ground earlier, the Undying City Lord’s quick retreat had been partly due to the burly man’s covert message.

“With you alive, neither of us can rest easy,” the burly man growled, his eyes alight with madness. “Once you’re dead, the Golden Whisker Heavenly Thunderwood will be ours to split.”

In the second level of the treasure vault, even three days of smashing meteorite mountains might not yield treasures rivaling the Golden Whisker Heavenly Thunderwood!
