Chapter 790: Battles Along the Journey

The Great Chieftain was dead, and around him floated various items he had left behind. Before Dongbo Xueying could collect them, a black shadow suddenly burst out from one of the spatial treasures and desperately fled—it was none other than the Second Chieftain, the black-scaled monster.

“Escape?” The white-robed Dongbo Xueying took a single step, traversing the void in pursuit. With a mere thrust of his spear, *pfft*—whether in void traversal or the profundity of his spearplay, Dongbo Xueying far surpassed these devouring void creatures.

“No, no…” The black-scaled monster let out a roar of unwillingness, but his body was utterly destroyed, his ferocious face instantly reduced to dust, leaving behind only scattered items.

Dongbo Xueying snorted coldly. He felt not an ounce of pity for these void creatures that feasted on countless cultivators. In truth, when he had first left his homeland, he had held some goodwill toward void creatures, for the progenitor of Voidwalkers was an extraordinary void being. Yet, whether it was the Void Progenitor or Dongbo Xueying himself, neither would show mercy to chieftains who wantonly devoured lives.

With a wave of his hand, he collected all the items, refining and inspecting the spatial treasures and storage artifacts among them.

“Indeed, they carry their treasures with them,” Dongbo Xueying mused. Earlier, when he had the Black Gourd’s artifact spirit scan the sprawling palace complex, no significant treasures had been found. Clearly, these three chieftains did not trust their subordinates and kept their valuables close.

“A communication device?” Dongbo Xueying frowned slightly as he retrieved a peculiar golden token. “Transmitting messages across the chaotic void is exceedingly difficult—the farther the distance, the harder it becomes. He likely could only contact nearby chaotic lands. I wonder if I’ve been exposed.”

“The spoils are quite substantial—so many unique items.” A faint smile crossed Dongbo Xueying’s face. Strictly speaking, he was still relatively “poor.” The precious treasures he possessed were tied to his identities as a Golden-Robed Disciple and a Voidwalker—irreplaceable and untradeable.

When he left his homeland, he had left nearly all his past accumulations to Jing Qiu, Yu’er, and Qing Yao. This time, slaying three Void Deities had yielded a considerable windfall. There were all sorts of bizarre trinkets, weapons, rare materials, and puppets—unfortunately, unlike his master, the Bloodblade Divine Emperor, who studied all things, these items were merely trade goods to him.

“The more treasures, the better. In the future, they can be exchanged for things that might aid Jing Qiu and the others.” A trace of warmth flickered in Dongbo Xueying’s eyes.

A mere cup of tea’s time later.

Mid-air.

A large group of cultivators from the Chenxiao Continent had gathered, led by the five newly freed Sovereigns, along with a host of Reverends, ordinary Paragons, and numerous World Deities. They stood together, gazing gratefully at the savior of their entire chaotic land.

“Senior, you have saved countless lives across our continent. May we know your name?” A gaunt, black-robed Sovereign at the forefront bowed respectfully.

“My name is Dongbo,” Dongbo Xueying replied with a smile.

“Senior Dongbo!”

The Sovereigns, Reverends, Paragons, and World Deities chorused in unison, bowing deeply—once out of reverence for his power, and again out of gratitude.

Dongbo Xueying continued, “This is not yet the time to relax. You must understand that beyond the void creatures I’ve slain here, others still plague different chaotic lands. If news of this battle remains concealed, Chenxiao Continent may remain safe for a long while. But if exposed, danger may come. I will guard you in secret for ten thousand years. If no enemies appear in that time, I shall depart.”

“Thank you, Senior!” The cultivators expressed their boundless gratitude.

Senior Dongbo’s aid was purely an act of kindness—there had been no prior ties between them. For him to pledge ten thousand years of silent guardianship was already extraordinary.

“This is all I can do. Your fate beyond that lies in your own hands.” With those words, Dongbo Xueying turned and stepped through the void, arriving at the highest point of the chaotic land. Breaking through the barriers, he vanished into the vast chaotic void.

As they watched him leave, the natives felt a complex mix of emotions.

Before Dongbo Xueying’s arrival, they had lived in darkness, devoid of hope. Yet this peerlessly talented Senior Dongbo—a True Body Sovereign—had descended from the chaotic void and single-handedly annihilated all the void creatures, including three Void Deities.

“Senior Dongbo has shown immense grace to the people of Chenxiao Continent. Let us never forget this,” the gaunt black-robed Sovereign declared.

“Never shall we forget.”

That day would forever be etched in their memories.

The legend of Senior Dongbo spread across Chenxiao Continent, passed down through generations. Much later, the continent would even produce a supreme powerhouse who sought out Dongbo Xueying to pay homage—but that was a tale for another time.

Beyond the chaotic continent.

Dongbo Xueying sat cross-legged in the chaotic void, his senses extending through the void to envelop the surrounding land.

“According to the void map’s geography, the nearest batch of chaotic lands could arrive within thirty thousand years if they received word and rushed here,” Dongbo Xueying mused. If any enemies came, ten thousand years of guardianship would suffice—he could not remain here forever.

He followed his heart, doing what he deemed right.

While attuned to the void, Dongbo Xueying closed his eyes and entered deep cultivation.

As per Ancestor Tianyu’s guidance, the path of Rule and Mystery cultivation required comprehending ever more formidable techniques—even creating one’s own. By relentlessly pursuing the pinnacle, one’s understanding of Rule and Mystery would deepen. With sufficient accumulation, breakthroughs would come naturally.

Mastering the *First Sword of World Annihilation* had indeed broadened Dongbo Xueying’s horizons, elevating his comprehension of Rule and Mystery application. Even when studying the *Voidwalker’s Secret Treasury*’s twenty-first layer formation diagram—previously nearly indecipherable—he now discerned much of its meaning.

This was the slow but steady ascent of his realm.

“I know my limits. I dare not aspire to create a slaughter-path technique surpassing the *First Sword of World Annihilation*,” Dongbo Xueying reflected. “But I can supplement it with insights from the ripple-path.”

“Very well, let’s begin.”

*Dao Wind Ripple* was the slaughter-path and ripple-path fusion technique Dongbo Xueying had created.

The *First Sword of World Annihilation* was peerless—flawless beyond improvement. Yet, using ripple-path insights to “gild the lily” seemed feasible. Even so, supplementation was no simple task—missteps would render it superfluous. But as the creator of *Dao Wind Ripple*, Dongbo Xueying had the experience to attempt it.

Ten thousand years passed in the blink of an eye.

The white-robed Dongbo Xueying, still guarding the chaotic continent, opened his eyes. No invaders had come.

“Time to leave.” He glanced back at the vast chaotic land before silently departing through void traversal.

Maintaining void traversal for extended travel.

Over six thousand years later.

Dongbo Xueying beheld another chaotic continent.

“This one must also be under void creature occupation,” he thought, his gaze icy. “These life-devouring abominations deserve nothing but death. Engaging them will serve as tempering.”

*Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.*

Three black-robed Dongbo Xueying clones materialized, each wielding weapon-essence as they charged toward the continent.

Dongbo Xueying was no fool—without knowing the enemy’s strength, he sent avatars first. If some terrifying entity lurked within, his true body in the chaotic void could flee instantly. Still, the odds of encountering a “Unity-Realm Void Deity” were slim.
