Chapter 647: Aching Heart

Just reaching the Venerable realm, yet able to slay a Venerable-level expert—and one from the enemy’s universe at that.

This is an achievement that would thrill any cultivator!

“Never imagined the true divine flying daggers would be so effective,” Dongbo Xueying marveled. “Back then, even the Sage Ye could sense the daggers a split second before they struck. But these Mothergoddess Sect Protectors have such low comprehension that they can’t detect them at all!”

Without the slightest awareness or defense, every throw of the daggers achieved maximum impact.

As Dongbo Xueying closed in, Protector Qi Yun grew increasingly furious and resentful. Memories of his homeland and the lofty ambitions he had when first setting out for the cultivators’ universe flooded his mind.

“I will surely accomplish great deeds.”

“Once I enter the cultivators’ universe, perhaps I can even establish my own sect and become its founder.”

Such grand aspirations he once held!

But now, feeling his injuries worsen by the moment, Protector Qi Yun’s heart filled with sorrow. “This avatar I sent to the cultivators’ universe is truly about to perish. My death is so meaningless—I haven’t achieved any significant feats here. The sect would never agree to expend great resources to nurture another avatar and send me back.”

“Qi Yun, prepare to die.” Dongbo Xueying swiftly closed the distance and hurled another dagger.

Qi Yun merely glanced at him.

His life force was rapidly depleting, making it impossible to suppress the Blood Serpent Venom any longer. The toxin spread through his body, ugly crimson veins surfacing on his skin. He stared at Dongbo Xueying. “Never thought a mission I assumed would be simple and effortless would end with my death at your hands, shattering all my hopes.”

“What are you talking about?” Dongbo Xueying found this odd. “It’s just an avatar. Why such despair?”

Though puzzled, Dongbo Xueying showed no mercy.

*Thud.*

The Blood Serpent Spear pierced forward once more. This time, Qi Yun made no attempt to block it, allowing the spear to impale him completely. His body began crumbling into nothingness.

As he disintegrated, Qi Yun gazed at the vast, blood-red sky.

“Farewell, cultivators’ universe. I won’t have another chance to return.”

*Whoosh.*

His body vanished entirely.

Dongbo Xueying mused, “The Blood Serpent Venom is truly terrifying. Once it permeates the body, it causes complete disintegration.”

“The physical resilience of these Mothergoddess Sect Protectors is astounding. When they unleash their full power, their strength is absurdly overwhelming. Thankfully, I’ve mastered two supreme techniques specializing in raw power, allowing me to barely withstand their assaults.”

Even so, without the *Annihilation Extreme Profound Body* and *Taihao* techniques, he would have been utterly crushed, forced to retreat into the Void World.

“And this was just an ordinary Protector. If their strength is already this fearsome…” Dongbo Xueying muttered to himself. “I wonder if my plan will succeed. Even if it fails, the Void Path ensures my survival.”

He glanced at the scattered items falling from the sky—Qi Yun’s remnants—and waved his hand.

*Whoosh.*

All the objects were collected, to be examined later.

“There was something off about that Protector. Losing an avatar shouldn’t have affected him so deeply.” The strangeness of Qi Yun’s reaction nagged at him.

In the cultivators’ universe, losing an avatar would typically provoke rage—threats of vengeance, perhaps regret over lost treasures. But the avatar itself? Easily replaced. The soul could split again, and the minor damage would heal swiftly. Without significant losses, an avatar’s destruction was trivial.

“Emperor Wu Qiu,” Dongbo Xueying transmitted via karma. “I just killed a Mothergoddess Sect Protector, but he seemed utterly despairing. Something feels off.”

High above the Blood Demon Cave Heaven, a blazing streak of flame halted mid-flight.

Protector Huo Zhu and his three companions stood frozen.

“Qi Yun is dead,” the gray-robed female Protector said slowly. “To think that of all of us who came to this universe together, he would fall first.”

“Killed by a mere Four-Heavens Godfiend,” the green-eyed man sneered. “What a waste.”

“The Sect Master said that Dongbo Xueying, despite being a Four-Heavens Godfiend, has forged his own path, equivalent to one of our Venerables,” the gray-robed woman added.

“A newly ascended Venerable, yet he took down Qi Yun?” the elderly man shrouded in purple robes rasped, his aged eyes gleaming.

“His flying daggers countered Qi Yun perfectly,” Huo Zhu growled, his voice thunderous with suppressed fury. “We were assigned to the Six Paths Heavenly Wheel. The five of us have survived countless dangers over the ages. Yet an insignificant Dongbo Xueying felled Qi Yun.”

The four Protectors exchanged grim looks.

Then, an enraged command from the Mothergoddess Sect Master echoed in their minds:

“Protector Huo Zhu, the four of you shall move together. Kill Dongbo Xueying!”

“As you command.”

They acknowledged without hesitation. To them, Dongbo Xueying was no threat. They had faced countless perils in the Six Paths Heavenly Wheel, even clashed with Protector Wu Qiu. A lone Venerable? Hardly daunting.

“Move out,” Huo Zhu boomed, glaring toward Dongbo Xueying’s direction. “Hunt down that whelp.”

“Let’s go.”

“End him.”

“In the Blood Demon Cave Heaven, no one can save him.”

The four Protectors merged into a single fiery streak, streaking toward their target.

Dongbo Xueying knew that slaying Qi Yun would provoke retaliation. The remaining Protectors in the lower three cave heavens would surely come for vengeance. After all, a “newly ascended Venerable” held no deterrence for the Mothergoddess Sect.

Yet despite anticipating their arrival, he continued conversing with Emperor Wu Qiu.

“You killed a Mothergoddess Sect Protector?” Wu Qiu’s voice crackled with disbelief.

“Yes. What of it?” Dongbo Xueying replied. “It was just an avatar. Why the fuss?”

“You… you truly are remarkable,” Wu Qiu sighed in admiration.

“What’s the big deal?” Dongbo Xueying pressed.

He wasn’t entirely ignorant of the Mothergoddess Sect. His master had shared ample intelligence, detailing their known experts, techniques, and the fact they possessed avatars.

“Including your kill,” Wu Qiu explained, “our cultivators’ universe has only slain three of their Protectors in total.”

“*What?*” Dongbo Xueying blinked.

Only three? And he accounted for one?

“The Mothergoddess Sect is notoriously cunning. They rarely appear in the open universe. Only in the Six Paths Heavenly Wheel’s lower three cave heavens—where I alone guard—do they gather in numbers,” Wu Qiu elaborated. “They avoid risks at all costs, valuing their lives above all. Unless driven by greed for supreme treasures, they never take unnecessary chances.”

“Before your feat, we’d only eliminated two Protectors,” Wu Qiu continued. “I must inform the Eight Masters. This matter is significant. Secure the fallen Protector’s belongings—your master and the others will likely inspect them.”

“Understood.”

Wu Qiu promptly relayed the news to the Eight Masters:

The Island Lord of Spacetime, the Bloodblade Thearch, the Lord of Myriad Halls, Lady Ganhe, the Primal Originator, Niluo Master, the Hellfire Thearch, and the Abyssal Progenitor.

All eight received the report.

“*What?*”

“That youngster Dongbo Xueying slew a Mothergoddess Sect Protector?”

“Isn’t he a Four-Heavens Godfiend?”

“He forged his own path?”

The Masters were stunned. Apart from the Bloodblade Thearch, none had known Dongbo Xueying had achieved this milestone. To forge a path in mere a million years—this was more terrifying than transcending in the same timeframe! Not only had he done so, but he’d also eliminated a Mothergoddess Sect Protector within the Six Paths Heavenly Wheel.

“Xueying.”

Standing atop a mountain peak, Dongbo Xueying enjoyed the breeze when his master’s voice resonated in his ears.

“You killed a Mothergoddess Sect Protector?”

“Yes, Master. Is something wrong?”

“*Hahaha!* The Mothergoddess Sect must be fuming,” the Bloodblade Thearch laughed. “But beware—they hold absolute superiority in the Six Paths Heavenly Wheel. They *will* send multiple Protectors after you.”

“Worry not, Master. Your disciple is prepared.”

He had deliberately withheld his Void Path abilities precisely to lure more prey.

“Master, you said they’d be furious over losing an avatar. Why such distress?”

“Ah, this…” The Bloodblade Thearch’s tone brimmed with pride. “You’ve brought me immense face this time.”
