Chapter 646: The Anxiety of the Matriarch’s Sect

The face of Protector Zhengyun changed. Although the flying daggers were not as powerful as the Blood Serpent Spear in pure force, they appeared directly before his brow from the Void World before striking! The attack unleashed its full power without any loss. In contrast, the Blood Serpent Spear’s assault was first entangled by countless strands of hair and then blocked by Zhengyun’s full defensive efforts, its power continuously diminishing, leaving only bloody holes in his body.

But the flying daggers—Dongbo Xueying’s strength had surged, leaping an entire major level, and his comprehension of the ‘Path of Slaughter’ had deepened. With Zhengyun completely defenseless, a direct strike was something he simply couldn’t withstand.

“His flying dagger destroyed my head. Some of my flesh can still regenerate, but parts of it were utterly annihilated. That single strike cost me one percent of my life force.” Zhengyun glanced at the bloody holes covering his body. The flesh around these wounds, along with the life force contained within, was tainted by the ‘Blood Serpent Poison.’ The best way to detoxify was to excise and discard all the affected flesh!

But if he removed all the wounded flesh, the life force contained within would also be lost—at least thirty percent of his total life force! With such severe injuries, he could no longer maintain his current explosive state.

If that happened, Dongbo Xueying would catch up and pierce him with spear after spear, killing him.

“Right now, I’m forcibly suppressing the venom to keep my body functioning, but his flying daggers will continue to wound me, draining my life force. If too much is lost, I won’t be able to unleash my full power again.” Zhengyun grew frantic. “Moreover, being struck and wounded will also slow my flight speed.”

“If this continues…”

“I might die by his hand.”

Protector Zhengyun panicked.

Death?

Since coming to this cultivator’s universe, he had considered the possibility of death. But he wanted his death to be meaningful—so that the sect would compensate him and perhaps even help him return to this universe.

“If I die by Dongbo Xueying’s hand, I’ll gain nothing. My death would be utterly worthless.” Zhengyun grew desperate. “Once dead, I might never return to this cultivator’s universe. No, I can’t die. Absolutely not.”

Though grievously wounded by the flying dagger, countless thoughts raced through his mind.

At the same time, he reached out to the Sect Master: “Sect Master, Sect Master, save me! Send Brother Huozhu and the others to rescue me at once!”

Far away, in the stronghold of the Mother Goddess Sect within the cultivator’s universe.

Inside a towering bronze hall, its walls bearing many ancient marks, a massive, greenish-brown-skinned figure clad in tattered cloth sat cross-legged at the center. His tusked face now showed shock. “Protector Zhengyun, you can’t even escape?”

“His weapon contains venom. My body can barely suppress it, let alone expel it. His flying dagger is even more insidious—it appears from the void right before my eyes, leaving me no time to defend! And that dagger doesn’t just shatter my skull—the slaughtering force within it annihilates part of my life force.”

“Every time I’m wounded, my flight speed suffers.”

“If this continues, I’ll likely die by his hand.” Zhengyun urgently pleaded for help.

“Understood. But Huozhu and the others are far from you. Hold on as long as you can,” the Sect Master replied.

“Tell them to hurry!” Zhengyun urged.

Without hesitation, the Sect Master issued orders to the other four protectors within the Blood Devil Abyss: “Huozhu, the four of you must set out immediately to rescue Zhengyun! You must save him. Every one of our forces is precious—we cannot afford to lose him.”

The Sect Master’s eyes burned with fury.

This was a grave miscalculation.

“Creatures of the cultivator’s universe can easily revive even if a clone dies. We are not like them,” the Sect Master muttered.

“Just how strong is Dongbo Xueying?”

His rage simmered.

“Sect Master, I’ve scoured the River of Time. Dongbo Xueying’s form within it is colossal—his body spans a tenth of the river’s width. It’s certain he remains a Four Heavens World God, but he has forged his own path, much like the Bamboo Mountain Prefecture Lord,” a message came through.

“Only a million years of cultivation, and he’s forged a path?” The Sect Master’s anger and anxiety grew. “And now, just after forging his path, he threatens Zhengyun’s life?”

Frustrated, he could do little.

The lower three abysses were beyond his reach, and even if he entered, he could only travel slowly. The ‘Six Paths Heavenly Wheel,’ like other ruins, suppressed the laws of the universe. Only those who had transcended these laws could move swiftly—such as the Island Master of Spacetime, who could traverse space within the Six Paths Heavenly Wheel and the Three-Headed Divine Mountain.

Dongbo Xueying, too, could move at incredible speeds through the Void World.

But the Mother Goddess Sect’s protectors were lacking in such profound insights—’understanding’ was never their forte. If they possessed both overwhelming power and high-level comprehension, the cultivator’s universe would stand no chance.

Elsewhere in the Blood Rain Abyss.

On a desolate stretch of land outside five stone huts, four figures gathered—Protector Huozhu and his companions. Three men and one woman, their auras strange and varied. Leading this group was Protector Huozhu. While Zhengyun and his three comrades were ordinary protectors, Huozhu stood at the pinnacle—capable of facing Emperor Wuqiu and escaping unscathed.

They had received Zhengyun’s plea, but as a lower-ranking protector, he couldn’t command them so easily. They were still refining a medicinal solution, prepared for a perilous region within the Blood Devil Abyss.

“The elixir isn’t ready yet,” a gray-robed female protector said grimly.

“Leave it. Saving Brother Zhengyun takes priority,” Huozhu declared, his eyes flickering with flames. “Each of us came to this cultivator’s universe with great difficulty. We must protect Zhengyun.”

“Let’s go,” a green-eyed man said curtly.

“I’ve stabilized the elixir as best I can. Let’s hope it remains intact when we return,” the gray-robed woman sighed.

“Move out,” an elder shrouded in purple robes, only his eyes visible, commanded.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Under Huozhu’s lead, the four transformed into a blazing streak of light, hurtling toward Zhengyun’s location at terrifying speed.

The Mother Goddess Sect was doing everything to save Zhengyun.

Meanwhile, Dongbo Xueying was doing everything to kill him. His ‘all-out effort’ was somewhat deceptive—he hadn’t yet employed the Void World Path. From the start of the battle, he had refrained from using Void World techniques. Even the flying dagger’s ability stemmed from its own Void World mysteries.

Holding back the Void World Path was part of a deeper scheme.

“Haah.”

Dongbo Xueying flew at breakneck speed, hurling another flying dagger.

The moment it left his hand, it vanished.

“Damn it!” Zhengyun, fleeing desperately ahead, tensed as the dagger disappeared. But when it reemerged from the Void World, it materialized directly inside his body.

Boom!!!

Zhengyun’s abdomen exploded, his body splitting in two. The halves quickly rejoined, and he struggled to reclaim the tainted flesh to conserve life force.

“Nearly two percent of my life force lost this time?” Zhengyun despaired, redoubling his efforts to escape. But each dagger strike slowed him, allowing Xueying to close the gap.

Soon, another flying dagger appeared in Xueying’s hand.

Traveling through the Void World, the dagger moved far faster.

“Go.”

Strike after strike.

Zhengyun fled desperately. “It’s over. It’s over.”

He knew Huozhu and the others wouldn’t make it in time. It had taken him over two days to arrive; even if Huozhu was much faster, it would still take nearly a day.

But he? He wouldn’t last half a day.

“No!” Another dagger strike sapped more of his life force. With part of it suppressing the Blood Serpent Poison, the remainder couldn’t sustain his explosive state. His speed plummeted to normal. Xueying, whose physical prowess was nearly equal but whose comprehension far surpassed his, now flew faster.

“You’re dead,” Xueying smiled coldly, seeing his advantage.

“It’s over.” Zhengyun’s heart filled with bitter despair.

Xueying only felt the thrill of the impending kill. He didn’t realize what slaying a protector truly meant. To him, even if he killed Zhengyun, the latter could simply cultivate a new true body. At most, he’d gain some treasures.

But he was wrong. He didn’t understand the differences between their universes.
