Chapter 608: Power and Authority

“The Divine Emperor has business with me? Speak, let me hear it.” The Demon Dragon King was somewhat guarded. Though he bore no enmity toward this Dongbo Divine Emperor, they were not of the same faction.

Dongbo Xueying hovered in mid-air, gazing at the Demon Dragon King. “Among your subordinates, there is one named Mo Ba, from the Dark Abyss?”

“Indeed,” the Demon Dragon King nodded. “What of it? Why does the Divine Emperor take an interest in him?”

Dongbo Xueying nodded. “I had intended to kill him outright. However, upon learning he serves under you, it would be discourteous of me to slay him without first informing you.”

The Demon Dragon King’s massive pupils contracted slightly before he boomed with laughter. “Hahaha! The Divine Emperor honors this old dragon with his courtesy. A mere demon—kill him if you wish! There’s no need for such politeness. In fact, allow me to deal with Mo Ba personally. How does that sound?”

“My thanks, Demon Dragon King,” Dongbo Xueying smiled.

“A trivial matter, nothing more,” the Demon Dragon King laughed heartily.

Dongbo Xueying nodded with a smile. “Should you find the time, you are welcome to visit my estate. I shall gladly share a few cups with you.”

“I shall certainly visit when leisure permits,” the Demon Dragon King replied.

With a faint smile, Dongbo Xueying’s figure dissipated into nothingness.

Only the Demon Dragon King remained atop the mountain peak.

His colossal eyes turned cold, glinting with frost.

A being as ancient as he was no fool—he understood Dongbo Xueying’s intent perfectly. The words “I had intended to kill him outright” made it clear that the Divine Emperor’s killing intent was absolute. To refuse outright would be to provoke Dongbo Xueying’s wrath. That the Divine Emperor had come to inform him beforehand showed he had no true desire for enmity.

To sour relations with the Dongbo Divine Emperor over a mere Mo Ba? Even the Demon Dragon King was not so foolish.

“Mo Ba, come before me at once!” the Demon Dragon King commanded.

Soon—

*Whoosh!*

A demon clad in black scales, with two massive curved horns, appeared and prostrated himself in reverence. “I pay homage to my King.”

Mo Ba, the World God, was quite content with his current life. Originally from the Dark Abyss, he had fled in terror upon hearing that an enemy of his had broken through to the Four Heavens. Seeking refuge in the Divine Realm, he had pledged allegiance to the equally ruthless Demon Dragon King. Their temperaments aligned well, and the Demon Dragon King had favored him greatly.

“Truly comfortable,” Mo Ba mused inwardly. In the Divine Realm, he could kill or indulge as he pleased, backed by a mighty overlord. Life here was far more enjoyable than in the Dark Abyss.

“Mo Ba,” the Demon Dragon King rumbled. “Have you offended the Dongbo Divine Emperor?”

“The Dongbo Divine Emperor?” Mo Ba was taken aback. “The one from the Bloodblade Divine Court? I’ve heard of him, but we’ve had no dealings. I wouldn’t dare offend him!”

The Demon Dragon King sighed inwardly.

No matter.

It didn’t matter how Mo Ba had provoked him—Dongbo Xueying had personally come to speak of it.

*Whoosh!*

The Demon Dragon King’s claw lashed out, piercing through spatial barriers. Mo Ba’s face twisted in horror as he found himself immobilized by the crushing pressure of space. He could only watch helplessly as the claw descended upon him.

“Why?!” Panic and confusion flooded Mo Ba’s heart. A vague suspicion arose—perhaps this was related to “offending the Dongbo Divine Emperor”—but it was too late.

Under the colossal claw’s impact—

The space around Mo Ba’s body shattered like paper, disintegrating into countless fragments before vanishing into nothingness.

Simultaneously—

In another opulent palace, Mo Ba’s other incarnation, mid-indulgence, was struck by a causal attack! The Divine Realm offered no protection like the Material Realm. The Demon Dragon King, a veteran ranked on the Cosmic Deities List, was deeply versed in the Dao of Causality. The transmitted force obliterated Mo Ba’s incarnation instantly—his body collapsed, his truesoul extinguished.

At the Paramount level, causal attacks could annihilate even near-Supremes.

Of course, the Material Realm’s protections were another matter entirely!

There, a Paramount’s will could only slay Two Heavens World Gods. Only through oaths could they kill Three Heavens World Gods. Ordinary overlords could only eliminate One Heaven World Gods via causality.

But in the Divine Realm…

The causal strikes of overlords were equally terrifying!

At the Dongbo Divine Emperor’s estate—

A silver-haired woman in green robes sipped tea, her gaze fixed on Dongbo Xueying, who sat across from her. Anxiety and tension coiled within her. *Too careless! I should have hidden the Greenheart Grass roots first, only offering them after the Dongbo Divine Emperor fulfilled his promise. I trusted his status too much—believing he wouldn’t simply seize them. Yet now, he hasn’t given me any answer at all.*

*At least give me a reply! Once he agrees, killing Mo Ba shouldn’t be too difficult.*

*Is he wary of the Demon Dragon King? Ah, Mo Ba has an incarnation residing in the Demon Dragon Ridge. Perhaps slaying a Three Heavens World God there would be troublesome even for the Dongbo Divine Emperor.*

Her worry clouded her judgment.

After all, there was little she could do.

“It is done.”

Dongbo Xueying’s voice snapped her from her thoughts. Her spirits lifted—was he finally giving an answer?

“Mo Ba the World God is dead,” Dongbo Xueying stated. “Your request has been fulfilled.”

“Dead?” She glanced at her teacup—the tea within was still warm. Barely any time had passed since she made her request. How could Mo Ba already be slain?

“Look.” Dongbo Xueying pointed to the air beside them.

Space twisted, projecting a distant, luxurious palace in chaos. Its master, Mo Ba the World God, lay lifeless.

“That’s Mo Ba’s demon palace?” She stared blankly at the scene.

“That is one of his incarnations. His true self is dead; the incarnation was slain through causality. Hence, the body remains intact, but the truesoul is extinguished,” Dongbo Xueying explained. The moment Mo Ba perished, he had sensed it through causality.

The woman gazed at the corpse of the once-ferocious Mo Ba, emotions churning within her. Doubt all but vanished—the Dongbo Divine Emperor had no need to fabricate such a scene. If he wished to take by force, she was powerless to resist.

“My gratitude, Divine Emperor.” She promptly presented the Greenheart Grass roots.

Dongbo Xueying accepted them with a faint smile.

Though convinced, the silver-haired woman still sent her true self to the Spacetime Temple to verify. The Temple’s response was swift: *Mo Ba the World God—true self and incarnations annihilated. True self’s death linked to the Demon Dragon King. Incarnations slain via causality.*

The result left her awed.

*Did the Demon Dragon King act?*

A shiver ran through her. The Dongbo Divine Emperor’s methods were indeed formidable. She had sought his aid, and before her teacup was empty—without him even leaving his seat—Mo Ba was dead.

Now, Dongbo Xueying needed only one final material—the Sevenleaf Stonefruit. Anxiety was futile; he could only wait. He hoped a World God would bring news of it. To him, their demands mattered little—so long as they were reasonable, he could fulfill them. None would be so brazen as to demand a supreme art for a single ingredient. He would expel such fools without hesitation.

Time flowed.

Sixty thousand years after opening his estate, the final material arrived.

“I possess the treasure the Divine Emperor seeks. Kindly announce my presence,” a handsome youth declared at the gates of the Dongbo Divine Emperor’s estate.
