Chapter 404: Five Hundred Years

“I’m going to be a father?” Dongbo Xueying felt a bit dazed. The sensation was utterly magical. Despite having lived for so many years and experienced so much, the realization that he was about to become a father still left him dizzy with joy—an overwhelming, uncontrollable elation. He gazed at Yu Jingqiu. “After waiting all these years, it’s finally happened. I truly thought that as my power grew, the chance of having children would only diminish. The heavens have been kind to me, so very kind.”

Yu Jingqiu smiled sweetly. She, too, had waited far too long. Back when Dongbo Xueying had been afflicted with the Witch Poison, every particle of his body had been tainted, making it impossible to conceive. But after the poison was purged, the couple had longed for a child. Counting the time accelerated within the Redstone Mountain, it had been nearly a millennium.

It hadn’t been easy! And now, not just one, but two surprises had arrived.

“Jingqiu, you must rest. From now until the babies are born, don’t exhaust yourself studying spells,” Dongbo Xueying urged.

“Alright, alright,” Yu Jingqiu replied with a happy laugh.

For the sake of his unborn children, Dongbo Xueying spared no effort. He even temporarily set aside his cultivation to consult the artifact spirit ‘Redstone’ and his two World God senior brothers, seeking treasures that would benefit a pregnant woman and her unborn children.

Gebai, He Feiyun, Xi Wei, and Redstone were all astonished and delighted, congratulating Dongbo Xueying. After all, the stronger one became, the harder it was to have descendants.

Dongbo Xueying’s true body had already reached the fourth layer of the Myriad Tribulations Mixed Yuan Body after becoming a World God. Given his formidable physique and bloodline, the odds of conception should have been even slimmer. Yet, against all expectations, it had happened. No matter how low the probability, it still existed—there were even cases of mighty figures siring children.

“These two little ones are truly extraordinary. With my fourth-layer Myriad Tribulations Mixed Yuan Body, how powerful will their bloodline be at birth?” Dongbo Xueying mused silently as he accompanied his wife, whose belly was gradually swelling. The fact that he had become a World God and cultivated his body to the fourth layer was known only to him and the artifact spirit Redstone.

After nearly ten months of pregnancy…

On this day, his wife Jingqiu was inside the house, doors and windows shut.

Dongbo Xueying waited downstairs, seated on a chair, accompanied by his younger brother Qing Shi.

“Brother, look at you, so anxious and restless. And here I thought you were the mighty Dongbo Emperor,” Qing Shi teased.

“Ah, my heart is racing. I’ve waited over a thousand years for this,” Dongbo Xueying shot his brother a glance. “How can I compare to you? The Dongbo family’s descendants number in the tens of thousands—all thanks to you.”

Qing Shi chuckled. “Children beget grandchildren, grandchildren beget great-grandchildren… generation after generation, endless. The longer time passes, the more our Dongbo family grows.”

Dongbo Xueying smiled faintly.

He looked up at the house and waited silently. His wife was a Demigod-level mage; childbirth would be effortless for her.

“Waa, waa~~~~”

“Waa, waa~~~”

Two cries rang out in succession, one louder than the other.

Dongbo Xueying sprang to his feet. “They’re here!”

Soon after, Yu Jingqiu emerged, cradling two swaddled infants in her arms.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

Dongbo Xueying and Qing Shi appeared on the upstairs corridor in an instant.

“Let me see them,” Dongbo Xueying said eagerly, reaching out.

“Be careful,” Yu Jingqiu handed the babies over.

“Sister-in-law, don’t worry. My brother is the Lord of the Material Realm! Even without using his hands, the babies wouldn’t fall,” Qing Shi quipped, amused by the couple’s nervousness.

“Quiet, you,” Dongbo Xueying snapped before turning his attention to the infants in his arms.

Both babies had their eyes open, gazing blankly at the world while wailing at the top of their lungs.

To them, everything was new—the sky, the house, even the ‘giants’ standing nearby. Though their innate bloodline was extraordinary, they still needed time to grow. At this moment, fresh into the world, they were like blank slates, utterly innocent.

“Xiao Yu, Xiao Qingyao,” Dongbo Xueying called softly, using the names he and his wife had chosen—Dongbo Yu for the boy and Dongbo Qingyao for the girl.

Yu Jingqiu stood beside him, gently touching the babies’ soft cheeks, which only made them cry harder.

News of the twins’ birth spread quickly, and many of the Xia Clan’s friends came to offer congratulations. Mountain Master He, Sikong Yang, Palace Master Chen, City Lord Bu, Palace Master Taishu, Chao Qing, and Gong Yu all arrived. Many of them were nearing the end of their lifespans, but with the Xia Clan now thriving and forever secure, Mountain Master He and Palace Master Chen—both close to their limits—were overjoyed to witness the birth of Dongbo Xueying’s children.

In the days that followed, Dongbo Xueying experienced both joy and exasperation.

“Ha, hahaha…”

A bare-bottomed, barefoot toddler stood at the edge of Snowrock Mountain’s cliff, urinating freely. A golden arc streamed down, landing precisely on a farmer working in the fields miles below.

“Young master, you’re causing trouble again,” the White Mist Ape materialized, hastily intervening.

“Big White! Big White!” the child giggled.

“Dongbo Yu!”

A furious voice echoed as Dongbo Xueying, clad in white, appeared out of thin air. As the Lord of the Material Realm, a father could manifest anywhere, anytime!

The toddler stopped mid-stream and turned, staring blankly at his father.

“Do you understand what you’ve done wrong?” Dongbo Xueying demanded angrily before instructing, “White Mist, compensate that farmer with some coins.”

“Yes, Master,” the ape replied respectfully.

Dongbo Xueying then fixed his gaze on his nine-month-old son.

The child’s dark, round eyes sparkled with innocence as he grinned up at his father.

“I asked if you understood your mistake,” Dongbo Xueying pressed.

“Under… under… stood,” the toddler stammered obediently.

Dongbo Xueying sighed in frustration. The little rascal was always causing mischief—last time, he’d deliberately peed on him! No amount of scolding seemed to work.

“Xueying, Xueying,” Yu Jingqiu appeared. “Don’t frighten him. He’s only nine months old! He doesn’t understand discipline yet. Guide him gently, step by step. Here, let me take care of them. You go practice your spearplay.”

Dongbo Xueying could only relent.

As the years passed, the twins grew rapidly, absorbing knowledge like sponges. Their initial mischief gradually gave way to obedience, shaped by the examples set by their parents. Dongbo Xueying couldn’t help but feel proud and satisfied as they matured into fine young individuals, no longer reliant on him.

With his children grown, Dongbo Xueying returned to his cultivation. Time flowed on, and Dongbo Yu and Dongbo Qingyao, blessed with their extraordinary bloodline, reached the Demigod level effortlessly in their youth. By adulthood, their power surpassed even the most ancient beings in history, rivaling that of deities.

However, ascending to true godhood still required diligent cultivation. The task of guiding them fell primarily to Yu Jingqiu.

Gradually…

Mountain Master He, Sikong Yang, and others began to age and pass away, having failed to open their Divine Seas and become deities. Dongbo Xueying discreetly guided their souls into the Redstone Mountain, where they were reborn in new bodies to explore its vast, ten-billion-mile world.

Of course, he reserved such interventions for those he held dear or those who had contributed greatly to the Xia Clan. He watched over the transcendent beings silently, weighing each case with care.

In the Xia Clan world, Dongbo Xueying remained aloof, a legendary figure seldom seen by ordinary transcendents.

He concentrated on his cultivation, readying himself for the imminent “Bloodblade Divine Court’s Grand Banquet of Ten Thousand Blossoms.” He would attend—through an avatar—a doppelganger forged from a second-grade Divine Heart, yet still wielding divine-tier power.

The feast offered three benefits: first, rare combat experience; second, the ‘Ten Thousand Flowers True Fruit,’ a treasure said to aid even fourth-level World Gods in cultivation; and third, the chance to become a disciple of a mighty figure. Though he knew the Patriarch, additional backing would only smooth his path. Dongbo Xueying wasn’t one to court unnecessary hardship.

Five hundred years after the twins’ birth…

“Dongbo, come to the Summer Emperor’s City at once,” Chao Qing of the Elder Council summoned urgently.
