The largest purple-black-leafed flower, spanning dozens of miles in diameter, burst forth with a radiance so dazzling and intoxicating that even the likes of the Venerable Shifa and the North River Emperor, who were merely spectators, found themselves both awestruck and irresistibly drawn to it. Their gazes fixed upon the white-robed youth standing atop the central black leaf, their hearts roiled with shock, envy, jealousy, and disbelief…
A storm of complex emotions raged within them.
“He actually made it to the center?” Even someone of the Venerable Shifa’s stature couldn’t help but murmur under his breath. The Black Leaf Lake was located on his island, and he had attempted countless times to reach that spot. Yet, under the terrifying pressure, his soul had been unable to endure, forcing him to halt each time.
“To think I invited him here for assistance, only for him to reap the greatest reward!” The North River Emperor, too, paused in his collection of flower dew. As the most recently ascended emperor, his strength was already considered the pinnacle among his peers—precisely because he seized every opportunity that came his way. Instinctively, he understood that the overwhelming pressure at the center of the black leaf and the miraculous glow emanating from the purple flower could only signify an immense fortune. He couldn’t bring himself to believe otherwise!
He yearned for such an opportunity to fall into his own hands.
Yet, he was utterly incapable of setting foot on the central leaf, let alone competing for it. Not just him—even the Venerables couldn’t step onto it.
For a moment, all could only watch, consumed by envy, yet powerless to intervene.
“What is that?”
“What’s happening?”
The Venerable Shifa and the others suddenly jolted in surprise.
As the core black-leafed flower radiated its purple glow, illuminating the surroundings, a scattering of luminous droplets suddenly rose into the air. Each droplet shimmered visibly under the light, refracting brilliantly. Yet, within these droplets, faint silhouettes of strange creatures could be glimpsed. As if drawn by an invisible force, the droplets all flew toward Dongbo Xueying, merging into his body.
“Is that flower dew?”
“The dew of the black-leafed flower? No, it seems different.” The Venerable Shifa and the North River Emperor could only speculate wildly as they watched.
…
When Dongbo Xueying stepped onto the central black leaf, the flower erupted with a blinding purple radiance, and the luminous droplets, refracting the light, drifted toward him. Within them, the faint outlines of bizarre creatures could be seen. Though he sensed the droplets’ extraordinary nature, his life instincts stirred with desire. Moreover, this was merely a clone of his, so Dongbo Xueying didn’t evade, allowing the droplets to land on his body and be absorbed.
“Boom!”
The moment the droplets touched his skin, Dongbo Xueying’s consciousness erupted into chaos.
In that instant, he “saw.”
With unparalleled clarity, he beheld an unimaginably colossal entity soaring through the boundless, murky expanse of the Hunyuan Space. It possessed dozens of clawed limbs and a body studded with thousands of densely packed eyes—some gray, others golden. Yet, at this moment, all those eyes were closed.
Having encountered countless gray and golden eyes before, Dongbo Xueying recognized them instantly, even shut—these were the very same mysterious eyes he had seen on the floating islands.
In the distance, a brilliant glow shimmered—an unfathomably vast Source World, radiating waves of energy that rippled through the surrounding Hunyuan Space.
The gargantuan creature drifted leisurely past, its movement deceptively slow. Yet, it traversed the length of an entire Source World in mere seconds, for its size was beyond comprehension!
Only by comparing it to the distant Source World could Dongbo Xueying estimate that this “colossus” was roughly one-tenth the size of a Source World.
“To think it’s this massive.” Dongbo Xueying was stunned.
The creature was breathtakingly beautiful.
Its beauty was woven from the very fabric of “rules.”
The spaces between its scales formed entire dimensions. Across its vast body, the flow of time twisted and fluctuated. Yet, no matter how time warped, the creature existed unchanging across past, present, and future. Dongbo Xueying even felt that, at this level, such a being should be “eternally undying.”
It seemed destined to exist in the future.
Yet, Dongbo Xueying faintly understood that this creature was likely one of the two terrifyingly powerful Hunyuan Lifeforms that had perished in the Broken Tooth Mountain Range—the ones who had wounded Yuan before meeting their end. Whether slain by Yuan alone or by a coalition of Yuan and other Hunyuan experts, their fate remained a mystery.
“So beautiful.” Dongbo Xueying’s consciousness marveled.
Its claws embodied the terrifying rules of destruction.
As its body moved, it displayed spatial mysteries so profound that even Dongbo Xueying found them inscrutable.
Its form generated a terrifying gravitational pull at all times, yet at extremely close range, an equally fearsome repulsive force emerged. The interplay of these forces sent waves of Hunyuan energy rippling through the vast, murky expanse of the Hunyuan Space wherever it passed.
“Hum.”
Suddenly.
Every eye on the creature’s body snapped open, fixing their gaze in one direction.
Over a thousand eyes—half golden, half gray. Even though they weren’t directed at him, Dongbo Xueying felt the gray eyes exude an irresistible allure, while the golden ones radiated a terrifying offensive power. The two forces combined seamlessly: one weakening enemies by lulling them into complacency, the other striking directly at their souls. Only this perfect union formed its ultimate killing technique!
“Boom!”
Then, the vision in his consciousness shattered.
Dongbo Xueying regained his senses. Before him, the black-leafed flower still emitted its mesmerizing purple glow. He stepped forward, and as he drew near, the petals slowly unfurled, revealing the flower’s core. Nestled within the stamen were droplets of dew, and at its very center, embedded like a raindrop, was a crystalline bead.
Translucent and shimmering, it resembled a dewdrop at first glance.
But Dongbo Xueying knew better.
“The Thousand-Eyed Water Pearl.” His heart raced.
“The Thousand-Eyed Water Pearl!”
Not just Dongbo Xueying—even the Venerable Shifa on the shore and the North River Emperor, who had halted his dew-gathering, spotted the pearl at the flower’s heart with their keen vision.
The Thousand-Eyed Water Pearl!
A supreme treasure of the Broken Tooth Mountain Range!
The mountain range held only two such treasures: the “Thousand-Eyed Water Pearl” and the “Serpent’s Fang Marrow Pearl.”
Either could drive any superpower in the Broken Tooth Mountain Range to madness with greed, for possessing one granted access to the legendary forbidden zone—the Serpent’s Fang Corridor. The corridor was lethally dangerous, its entrance so terrifying that even Venerables would perish without protection. Only by carrying the Thousand-Eyed Water Pearl or the Serpent’s Fang Marrow Pearl could one survive.
“Trouble.”
The moment the black-leafed flower fully bloomed, exposing the Thousand-Eyed Water Pearl, the oppressive force that had permeated the area abruptly vanished.
The instant it disappeared, Dongbo Xueying knew disaster loomed.
His undisturbed presence here had relied entirely on that pressure keeping the Venerable Shifa and the others at bay.
“Whoosh!” Reacting instinctively, Dongbo Xueying’s arm shot out like lightning, elongating as his fingers closed around the pearl, snatching it back in a flash.
Boom! Boom!
The Venerable Shifa and the North River Emperor sprang into action.
“The Thousand-Eyed Water Pearl.” The Venerable Shifa had never imagined that such a treasure lay hidden at the heart of his Black Leaf Lake. Though multiple copies of both the “Thousand-Eyed Water Pearl” and the “Serpent’s Fang Marrow Pearl” existed, they were scattered across the vast expanse of the Broken Tooth Mountain Range, each guarded by immense challenges. Historically, almost exclusively Venerables had obtained them, precisely because the trials were so severe.
The emperors had claimed them only a handful of times.
The Venerable Shifa himself had entered the Serpent’s Fang Corridor three times in the past—and having done so, he craved to return.
“Venerable Shifa, stand down!” The North River Emperor proved his mettle, reacting a hair faster than the Venerable. Already on the black leaf and mere hundreds of miles away—a trivial distance for him—he closed the gap in a single stride.
Though the Venerable Shifa could teleport, over such a short distance, flight was swifter. Teleportation required traversing space, consuming a minuscule but critical fraction of time.
“Out of my way!” The Venerable Shifa roared, lashing out with his palm—his first direct attack against Dongbo Xueying’s group.
“Brother Feixue, the illusion!” the North River Emperor barked via mental transmission.
“Understood!” Without hesitation, Dongbo Xueying unleashed his full-powered Void Illusion, targeting the Venerable Shifa.
