Chapter 1546: Coercion

Could it be that the great upheaval in that realm was all because of Huang?

Everyone’s expressions turned grave. They now understood that the commotion Huang had stirred up beyond the frontier in recent days far exceeded their imagination!

Even the Immortal Kings had fully awakened because of it, preparing to breach the pass. What kind of monumental event was this? Only at the end of the previous era, when the otherworld truly launched a full-scale assault on the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths, did such beings take action!

This was enough to be called an event that shook the past and present. The grand curtain was beginning to rise!

“Huang is a citizen of the Imperial Pass. How could we hand him over to you?” a powerful cultivator shouted, his voice resolute, immediately opposing the idea.

Golden Matriarch shot him a glance, slightly displeased at his audacity to speak out without seeking permission first.

Below the Imperial Pass, the black war chariot remained eerily quiet. The terrifying presence within did not speak, maintaining an air of solemn dignity.

“How dare you disrespect the Imperial Clan! This is a crime punishable by annihilation!” someone near the black chariot roared from below.

“No one may slight the Imperial Clan!” another powerful cultivator bellowed, his teeth gleaming white, his towering frame radiating terrifying killing intent.

A chorus of shouts erupted, shaking the heavens and earth, reverberating through the Imperial Pass.

On the city walls, a chill ran down everyone’s spines. This was indeed a massive mobilization—even the elusive Imperial Clan had appeared.

How terrifying! The Imperial Clan was renowned as the supreme race, lofty and untouchable. Every member was invaluable, for they were nearly invincible, with few rivals.

Yet, their numbers were pitifully small, their reproduction rate shockingly low.

The war chariot was pitch-black, wreathed in swirling smoke, carved with ancient beasts, including true dragons, exuding a soul-crushing pressure.

It was clear that a supreme being of the Imperial Clan sat within!

This was unprecedented. In recent ages, no Imperial Clan member of this caliber had appeared so openly, arriving at the battlefield to gaze directly at the gates of the Imperial Pass.

The people on the walls felt a deep unease.

It was evident how high the status of the Imperial Clan was in the otherworld. Even a single defiant remark from a cultivator within the Imperial Pass provoked such a cold, ruthless response, with shouts and threats—enough to speak volumes.

“To hand him over or not—you must consider carefully and choose wisely!” an elder standing before the black war chariot below the pass shouted.

“Expecting us to submit to such humiliation? Impossible!” On the walls, many were hot-blooded, having fought here for years. How could they yield?

In fact, oppression only fueled their defiance. The clans defending the Imperial Pass were warlike, their spines unbreakable.

“We gave you a chance, but you refuse to cherish it. You will regret this,” someone below taunted.

“Shut up! Do you really think we fear you? If you want to attack, come at us! We’ll meet you head-on!” someone on the walls retorted.

“Exactly! Shut your mouths! Do you think threats will make us kneel? After all these years of war, if we were spineless, would this city still stand?” another joined in, voices brimming with fervor.

Below the pass, the expressions of those beings darkened.

Boom!

At that moment, beyond the desert’s edge, where the Heavenly Abyss could not reach, a blinding light surged into the sky, carrying a murderous aura that spanned millions of miles!

Everyone on the Imperial Pass trembled, a bone-deep chill gripping their souls, as if the end of the world had come.

Without needing to think, they knew—the Immortal Kings were making their move!

This was an unimaginable intimidation, leaving everyone frozen with dread, a despair so profound it sapped their will, making them feel utterly hopeless.

The fluctuations were too terrifying, shaking the very core of their souls!

Were beings of that level truly coming? How could they resist? There was no hope of victory.

Hum!

The void trembled as countless decrees ignited at the desert’s edge, part of an ancient sacrificial ritual to aid the Immortal Kings in breaching the pass!

Once they crossed the Heavenly Abyss, nothing of the Nine Heavens would remain, for no one could stop them then.

At the horizon, golden decrees burned, their terrifying ripples shaking the frontier!

On the walls, everyone’s faces were grim, anxiety spreading like wildfire.

Below the pass, countless troops stood in dense formation, a black steel tide, raising their weapons in unison and roaring as one.

“Immortal Kings!”

Just those two words shook heaven and earth, making the Imperial Pass tremble, the resonance forming a terrifying sonic wave.

It was soul-stirring. The beings of the otherworld called upon their supreme rulers, intimidating every cultivator within the pass.

“Will you make your choice? Do not err in judgment!” someone below the pass said coldly.

Their confidence was absolute, a blatant display of pressure to force the pass’s defenders to decide.

In truth, they feared no decision the pass might make. Whether the defenders submitted or not mattered little to them.

Yet this very confidence, this overwhelming assurance, shook the resolve of many on the walls.

“Piss off! If you won’t submit, then fight!” Cao Yusheng shouted.

“Silence!” An elder beside Golden Matriarch glared at him. “Who gave you the right to speak here?”

“Why not? When it’s time to fight, I’ll be at the front. When it’s time to curse them, I won’t hold back!” Cao Yusheng retorted with a defiant pride.

“Enough,” an invincible being intervened.

“A mere Huang is nothing to us. But this time, he has provoked many, and they demand his death to quell their wrath. Hand him over. As for that wooden chest, you’ll never open it. Whether you surrender it or not matters little—we’ll take it ourselves!” The voice below was unyielding, the threat clear.

“Then come and take it! Try us!” someone on the walls spat in anger.

“We’ve spilled enough blood. We’d prefer a peaceful resolution this time, sparing the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths further slaughter.”

From the black war chariot, the Imperial Clan’s supreme being spoke again, his tone icy and emotionless, commanding awe.

“What peaceful resolution do you propose?” Golden Matriarch asked.

The question sent a ripple through the defenders. Was the supreme being considering compromise?

“Meet our demands, and for ten thousand years, our two realms shall coexist in peace, neither disturbing the other.” The Imperial Clan’s supreme being made his pledge.

He further assured that the Immortal Kings would swear an oath to uphold the agreement.

Everyone was stunned. An oath from the Immortal Kings would involve profound karma—it was a credible guarantee.

But could they accept this? It was too humiliating!

“An oath in blood from the Immortal Kings is indeed binding, tied to the most terrible causality,” Golden Matriarch nodded.

Everyone’s faces darkened. Was she truly considering such terms, ready to surrender Huang?

Many glanced at Wang Changsheng and the three invincible beings. The atmosphere grew stifling, heavy with tension.

Cao Yusheng, Tianjiao Ant, Chang Gongyan, and others seethed with anger, longing to curse or shout, but they dared not openly defy the supreme beings.

Still, they voiced their pleas to reject the proposal.

“Young ones, you have no place here. Leave at once,” an old woman beside Golden Matriarch commanded with a wave.

Golden Matriarch would not deign to address them directly, her status too lofty for such discourse.

Then, Shi Hao stepped forward, standing tall on the walls, addressing the supreme beings and clan leaders. “It’s not that I fear death, but that wooden chest must never be surrendered!”

Everyone nodded involuntarily. The chest clearly held secrets of immense importance, given how fiercely the otherworld sought it, even threatening the pass.

How could they surrender such a treasure, already in their possession? It was not just humiliating—it could spell disaster.

Moreover, the otherworld’s brazen demand was nothing short of an insult to the defenders of the pass!

“Can we negotiate other terms? The chest cannot be handed over,” Golden Matriarch said.

Her words drew puzzled looks. Qing Yi, Cao Yusheng, the Jade Rabbit, and others were furious. Her implication was clear: the chest couldn’t be given, but what about Huang?

“Fellow Daoist…” an invincible being on the walls began.

“Elder Brother, I understand your concern. But I’ve received promising news. If the otherworld refrains from attacking the pass for a short time, everything can change. The outcome will be entirely different!” Golden Matriarch declared.
