Chapter 1392: The Celestial Abyss

The entire desert was once a battlefield, vast and boundless, without end. Countless ancestors fought here, battling against the heavens and the earth. Though the distant ages have passed, one can still almost hear the clashing war songs and the bloodthirsty cries of battle.

The army advanced, marching straight ahead.

The free-roaming geniuses chose to follow, all eager to witness the grandeur of the so-called war between the two realms.

“On the other side, there are immortals holding the line. Our side has long been without true immortals—can we really hold them off?” someone whispered.

A young genius asked, having arrived at the Imperial Pass for the first time, completely unfamiliar with the place.

In truth, this was also one of the doubts in Shi Hao’s heart. The situation was dire—how could the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths withstand the wolf-like armies of the foreign realm?

“For so many years, all the true immortals of our world have perished, yet the various clans still stand tall. There must be a reason for it,” an old knight explained.

“Wait—what is that?” someone suddenly exclaimed.

As they reached the depths of the desert, everyone instinctively looked up, sensing something vast looming above them, like an entire starfield!

Those who had left the pass for the first time were stunned, gazing at the sky. Was that demonic mist or immortal fog? Pure white and pitch-black intertwined like yin and yang!

Most crucially, it formed a massive circle, transforming into a terrifying vortex—a chasm!

However, this chasm stretched into the heavens, vanishing into the unknown abyss above rather than plunging into the earth.

It was truly enormous, vast beyond measure, shrouding the desert below.

“Could this… be the Celestial Abyss?” someone murmured.

Shi Hao was also taken aback. He had heard of this abyss before arriving—not one that led underground, but one that extended beyond the heavens, shrouded in mystery.

It was constructed from spatial barriers, forming its own enigmatic domain.

Black and white mist coiled together, slowly rotating, exuding a terrifying power.

Within the Celestial Abyss, fragments of stars drifted and turned, forming a fearsome demonic force, a sight both majestic and dreadful.

This was no ordinary abyss—it could even swallow celestial bodies.

Yet it was not a black hole, merely a chasm, for as they marched deeper into the desert, they could see it nearly touching the ground.

From this vantage, the sight became clearer—many star remnants floated within, along with massive skeletal remains, drifting and spinning, evoking dread.

“This Celestial Abyss is shrouded in mystery. Many experts have sought to explore it, yet none have ever reached its end. Yet it stands guard over our borderlands!” a great knight declared.

“But… how does it guard?” Many were puzzled, seeing the abyss so close yet sensing no special power.

“It has no effect on ordinary beings. But if an immortal crosses realms and enters this region, they will be sucked into the abyss, vanishing without a trace!” the great knight said gravely.

“What?!” Many of the younger warriors paled, stepping back in shock.

To be able to devour immortal beings—how terrifying was this Celestial Abyss? Where did it lead? Such unfathomable might!

“Rest assured, it won’t swallow you. Ordinary beings can pass through unharmed. Only when an immortal appears will it act,” the great knight reassured.

Why was it specifically targeting immortals?

How had it formed? Who had created it? These questions remained unanswered, for at the end of the Immortal Ancient Era, this world had collapsed, its civilization fractured, leaving no records.

Who had driven the foreign realm back? Even now, no one could say for certain.

Had the Celestial Abyss formed at that time?

“Thus, throughout the long ages, though the foreign realm has launched fierce assaults, after losing several immortals, they could only send their descendants to attack,” an old knight said with a faint smile.

The existence of the Celestial Abyss ensured the safety of the Nine Heavens and Ten Earths. Without it, the foreign immortals would have overrun the Imperial Pass long ago.

In this era without true immortals, this abyss played a crucial role, halting the iron tide of the foreign realm.

Many gazed up at the chasm in the sky, feeling its profound mystery, filled with countless secrets.

Where did it lead? What fate befell the immortals it swallowed—did they perish, or were they sent to some strange land?

The desire to explore burned within them—to uncover its end and learn the truth.

“Once, there was also a city… but alas, it has vanished, unseen for a long time,” an old knight sighed.

Shi Hao was startled—this was his true focus, one of the reasons he had left the pass. He sought that city, to learn its fate.

“Elder, where did it go?”

“No one knows. Perhaps it hides in the void, or perhaps it was shattered. It hasn’t been seen in recent times,” the old knight lamented.

“It must still exist. A year ago, someone glimpsed what might have been its shadow,” the great knight atop the Devouring Beast said.

Shi Hao sought more details, but found that people knew little about the city, unable to provide clear answers.

For that city was shrouded in mystery—even in ancient times, it stood alone between heaven and earth, appearing and disappearing at will.

“Impossible. I clearly saw that city standing beyond the borderlands, resisting the foreign armies alone. How could it be unreachable?” Shi Hao muttered to himself, unwilling to believe it.

“In the most ancient times, the Imperial Pass was sealed, cutting off all contact with the outside world. Who knows what might have happened to the Celestial Abyss or that ancient city then?” an elder mused.

Shi Hao’s heart clenched, his fists tightening.

The Imperial Pass had been sealed, isolating itself from the world!

The scenes he had witnessed now made him wonder—had the beings within that ancient city fought alone?

If so, there must have been some great upheaval. The Imperial Pass had sealed itself—was it abandonment, or was there another reason? Why had they not come to aid?

Shi Hao frowned, gripping his fists. He sensed that there must have been a “story” back then—perhaps tragic, perhaps desperate, perhaps inevitable.

“I will uncover the truth and clear the Shi Clan’s name!” he swore silently.

“Enemies ahead!” Suddenly, a shout rang out, startling the entire army.

In truth, at the distant horizon, the enemy had already spotted the forces of the Nine Heavens—their numbers were too vast to miss.

“Form ranks! Prepare for battle!” a great knight roared, leading his troops into formation, ready to charge.

This was no ordinary formation—between the ranks, blinding beams of light surged skyward, forming an energy shield to protect the army.

“What kind of creatures are those?”

Many stared ahead, toward the horizon.

The beings there were massive—some humanoid, some ancient beasts, some fierce birds—all engaged in constructing a massive, intricate formation. The scale of their work was staggering, requiring vast amounts of materials.

“What are they doing?”

“They’re setting up a grand formation to assault the Celestial Abyss, to breach it and pave the way for the immortals’ arrival. We must stop them and destroy their incomplete formation!” the great knight commanded.

By now, the other legions were also ready, preparing to charge.

“Attack!” a commander bellowed.

**BOOM!**

The earth-shaking war drums sounded—the battle had begun. Legion after legion surged forward, launching the great decisive clash.

**WOO—**

A desolate horn echoed from the horizon, where countless foreign beings emerged, their numbers stretching beyond sight.

The foreign realm had come prepared, their armies already in formation, abandoning their construction to meet the charge.

“What are those things? Why are they so bizarre?” Many of the Nine Heavens’ warriors, seeing the foreign realm for the first time, were stunned by the grotesque forms of their enemies.

Amid the surging killing intent, some creatures charged forth—some like centipedes, chilling to behold; others with pristine white wings, beautiful yet male; some pitch-black, flesh withered, like skeletons wrapped in skin, known as ascetics.

“Kill!”

On the side of the Nine Heavens, a great knight astride a white elephant roared, shaking heaven and earth as he swept his halberd forward in a devastating strike.

He was a leader, charging at the forefront, unleashing his full might—a supreme cultivator at the Dunyi Realm, his power unimaginable.

**BOOM!**

The heavens shattered as a moon plummeted from the Celestial Abyss!

His halberd carved through the sky like an eternal immortal light, unstoppable. The desert ahead erupted in towering waves, and swathes of foreign cultivators screamed, annihilated in an instant.

Blood surged like a tide, countless enemies wailing in agony.

Such slaughter was brutal and bloody—but this was war, merciless and cruel.

**ROAR—**

The white elephant beneath the great knight trumpeted, its massive trunk lashing out like a mountain range, smashing into the foreign ranks, aiming to crush their leaders.

**CRASH!**

The trunk’s impact was devastating, sending foreign cultivators flying, some vomiting blood, others exploding on the spot.

“You dare?!”

From the foreign army, a monstrous figure surged forth—golden-maned, with a lion’s head, a human body, and a crocodile’s tail. Roaring, it brandished a divine spear and charged.

**CLANG!**

It clashed with the great knight atop the white elephant, their weapons meeting in an explosion that shook the heavens for tens of thousands of miles.

**SHING!**

As the foreign warrior’s spear flared with power, the enemy forces pressed forward, the battle descending into chaos.

“Kill them all!”

The war cries shook the skies as the two sides collided, life-and-death struggles erupting instantly.

**SPLAT!**

Blood sprayed endlessly—the battle was ferocious, every step claiming lives, the ground littered with corpses.

“Slaughter them!”

The heavens trembled under the force of battle, the earth itself threatening to collapse.

**THUD!**

The great knight fell—the lion-headed warrior was too powerful. In their duel, his spear swept out like a divine blade, severing the knight’s head in a fountain of blood.

“No!” The Nine Heavens’ forces cried out in despair—a great knight had fallen just like that.

**ROAR—**

From afar, someone bellowed, shaking the world, but it was too late to intervene.

Such was war—life and death decided in an instant, merciless and brutal.

“Hold formation!” an old knight commanded, directing the battle.

The clash was horrifying, blood raining down like a storm.

“I’ll kill you!”

At that moment, the great knight atop the Devouring Beast descended, man and beast moving as one. Wielding a golden whip, he struck with devastating force.

**CLANG!**

His weapon expanded like a mountain, its pressure overwhelming as it smashed toward the lion-headed monster. The collision of their weapons sent a deafening shockwave across the battlefield.

Slaughter filled the heavens, blood painting the desert in endless crimson. Screams shook the firmament, war cries piercing the skies.

Shi Hao’s blood burned with fervor—he had finally arrived beyond the pass, facing the foreign armies. The battle had erupted suddenly, and now, he would make his move.

“Kill!”

Shi Hao plunged into the fray like a demon possessed, unleashing carnage upon the enemy.

A hundred lives for one, a hundred thousand to atone for the Shi Clan—only then could he prove himself a true warrior. Here, he would fight with everything he had!
