Chapter 88: The Curtain Falls

Gazing at Xiao Yan, who showed no mercy, Jia Lie Ao’s face turned deathly pale, his expression one of sheer terror. On the street, as they watched Jia Lie Ao about to be bloodied, the onlookers couldn’t help but gasp in shock. Xiao Yan’s swift and decisive actions made many people view him with newfound respect.

Xiao Yu’s rosy lips slightly parted, her body stiff as she stood there. Xiao Yan’s resolute and ruthless nature completely overturned the gentle image he had once held in her heart. She never imagined that the playful young man who often bickered and acted up with her could be so vicious when he really got serious.

Everyone’s eyes followed the iron rod in Xiao Yan’s hand. However, just as the rod was half a meter away from Jia Lie Ao’s head, a roar echoed like thunder: “Xiao Clan brat, this is just a friendly spar. How dare you be so merciless?”

Hearing the enraged roar, Xiao Yan’s eyes narrowed, a cold smile forming on his lips. The iron rod in his hand did not stop; instead, it struck down with even more ferocity.

“Get out of my way!”

Xiao Yan’s action clearly incited the anger of the one who had shouted. A furious curse followed, accompanied by a sharp burst of wind, which cut through the iron rod like a bolt of green lightning. Instantly, the sturdy rod snapped in two, the broken ends smooth as a mirror.

The iron rod was easily sliced in half, and Xiao Yan’s face changed. He gritted his teeth, ready to plunge the remaining half into Jia Lie Ao’s throat, but the green energy struck again, the strong gust of wind making Xiao Yan’s breathing labored.

His pupils constricted, and the iron rod, which he tried to drive down, seemed to be blocked by an invisible barrier. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t break through.

Xiao Yan’s lips twitched. Gripping the iron rod tightly in his right hand, he twisted his body and suddenly flung the rod, turning it into a dark shadow that shot towards the figure leaping through the air.

“Hmph!” Seeing Xiao Yan dare to attack, the figure snorted. His hands curled into claws, waving furiously in front of him, creating several light-green energy blades of wind. With a flick of his fingers, the blades cut the iron rod into pieces.

“So young, yet so cruel. I will teach you a lesson for Xiao Zhan today!” After breaking the iron rod, the figure sneered. A dense green battle aura rapidly gathered in his palms, forming a whirlwind beneath his feet. His body shot through the air like a cannonball, charging at Xiao Yan. He waved his hand, and another light-green blade of wind formed, shooting towards Xiao Yan.

The strong wind pressure from the blade cleared the ground of debris, leaving it spotless.

“Teach me? Who do you think you are? Take care of your own son first.”

Xiao Yan shook his head with a cold laugh. He recognized the man from the battle aura—Jia Lie Ao’s father, Jia Lie Bi.

Calmly watching the approaching wind blade, when it was five meters from his head, Xiao Yan slammed his palm into the ground. An invisible force propelled him into the air, flipping in midair before landing steadily on an open space several meters away.

The wind blade missed, slicing a deep mark into the stone pavement with a sharp hiss.

“Father, kill him!” Seeing the figure charging down, Jia Lie Ao’s face lit up with joy, then he roared with vengeance.

Landing, Jia Lie Bi cast a grim look at Jia Lie Ao’s arm, his face twitching, his eyes filled with murderous intent. Without a word, he stomped his foot and charged at Xiao Yan again: “Let’s see what makes you, the Xiao Clan prodigy, so special.”

From Jia Lie Bi’s appearance to Xiao Yan’s retreat, it was only a brief moment. As the crowd saw Jia Lie Bi, a Grand Master Warrior, ambushing a young warrior, boos and whistles erupted.

“Damn it, Jia Lie, you old dog, you have the nerve to do this!”

Seeing Jia Lie Bi, disregarding the disparity in their status, charging again, Xiao Yan’s face grew grim, cursing loudly.

“Brat, you broke my son’s arm. Do you think you can just walk away unscathed?”

Jia Lie Bi stomped his foot, appearing above Xiao Yan like a gust of wind. His face, devoid of emotion, flashed with a sinister grin. Clenching his fist, the swirling green battle aura coalesced into a massive green vortex.

“What, using a Xuan Rank Battle Technique, Jia Lie? You’ve brought shame to the Jia Clan!”

Feeling the fierce power in Jia Lie Bi’s fist, Xiao Yan’s face turned grim. He quietly touched the black ring on his finger.

Not far away, Xuner’s face changed as she watched Xiao Yan in peril. Slowly, she exhaled, her golden flames rising in her eyes. Her slender hands began to gather a fierce golden battle aura.

Just as Xiao Yan prepared to save himself and Xuner to rescue him, a roar of fury echoed on the street again: “Damn it, Jia Lie, when did you get the nerve to discipline my son, you bastard?”

As the roar faded, a fiery red figure dashed from outside the market. Stomping on a rooftop, he appeared in front of Xiao Yan in a flash. Throwing his head back, he let out a roar, with a faint lion’s growl within.

“Mountain Splitting Lion Punch!”

Xiao Zhan’s face was grim. He clenched his iron fist and swung it at Jia Lie Bi, the giant red lion’s head appearing and disappearing on his fist.

“Boom!”

The clash of green and red exploded like thunder, making most onlookers’ ears ring.

In the air, both figures recoiled. Xiao Zhan, as he retreated, grabbed Xiao Yan, pulling him behind him.

Rapidly retreating, each step left a visible footprint on the floor, showing the immense power of the clash.

Dispelling the energy, Xiao Zhan glared coldly at Jia Lie Bi, sneering: “Jia Lie Bi, you’re a real dog, attacking a junior like that.”

Jia Lie Bi’s face was grim. Pointing at Jia Lie Ao, he said coldly: “He beat my son like this. Xiao Zhan, you owe me an explanation today!”

“Explanation? Bullshit! If it weren’t for my son’s quick thinking, he would be the one on the ground now. Shouldn’t I demand an explanation from you?”

Xiao Zhan mocked, swearing fiercely.

“This challenge was initiated by your son. Everyone here can testify. And in a challenge, breaking arms and legs is normal. No need to make a fuss.”

Xiao Zhan’s fierce expression slowly softened, and he smiled.

“You…”

Jia Lie Bi’s face twitched. Seeing the mocking gazes around, he knew he had lost the best chance to deal with Xiao Yan. Gritting his teeth, he said: “Don’t let me catch you, or else!”

“Same goes for you.”

Xiao Zhan laughed, his eyes flashing with a deadly light.

“Fine, fine, we’ll wait and see!”

Laughing in anger, Jia Lie Bi picked up Jia Lie Ao and walked away. Passing Liu Xi, who was still dumbfounded, he took a deep breath, suppressing his anger: “Mr. Liu Xi, let’s go!”

“Eh? That girl…”

Liu Xi cast a reluctant glance at Xuner.

Jia Lie Bi’s eyes twitched violently. He wanted to kill this idiot on the spot. Clenching his fists, he forced a ugly smile: “We’ll discuss this later.”

“Alright, fine.”

Seeing Jia Lie Bi’s pained expression, Liu Xi nodded reluctantly, his eyes lingering lasciviously on Xuner before following Jia Lie Bi away.

Watching Jia Lie Bi leave, Xiao Zhan sneered. Glancing around, he turned to Xiao Yan, his eyes softening. Patting his shoulder, he sighed: “You should have been harsher. Jia Lie Bi has only one son. If you had maimed Jia Lie Ao, Jia Lie Bi would have gone mad. Then, the three elders outside would have an excuse to kill him. What a pity.”

Xiao Yan was stunned, rolling his eyes. Xuner and Xiao Yu blushed at the crude words.

Hearing this, the mercenaries felt a chill run down their spines. No wonder Xiao Yan was so ruthless; his father was even more so.
