Chapter 1640: The First on the Heavenly Flame Ranking!

“Creating a Dou Emperor?” The air seemed to have solidified under these words from Zhumark. Even Guyuan had his mouth agape, staring blankly at Zhurmak before them. The stillness held for a long while before it slightly loosened. After the earlier confusion during mental paralysis, everybody gradually regained composure, only to feel the absurdity of the idea. Creating a Dou Emperor? Even when spoken by Zhurmak himself, it was nearly unbelievable. In the entirety of the past tens of thousands of years, nobody across the heavenly continent had ascended to the level of a Dou Emperor. People already understood too clearly the elusive nature of the legendary realm.

“You’ve got to be kidding,” Flamelight opened his mouth, his voice involuntarily turning rather dry. Though he considered the statement essentially unreliable, for some indistinct reason, a glimmer of hope rose as he asked the question. With the current dire straits the allies found themselves against, they had nearly reached the brink. Should the Soul Tyrant Emperor successfully ascend to Dou Emperor, then truly none would have any chance at resistance—against a being on such a plane, no might would stand. However, if Zhurmak’s claim proves truthful, then this deadlock might be breached!

“Senior Zhurmak” Xiao Yan hesitated too. Choosing his words cautiously when speaking, he added, “This isn’t a matter for jest.” Should Zhurmak’s assertion actually prove viable there would likely have not such a pause on that level throughout all the preceding years.

Guyuan stayed quiet; he fixed Zhurmak with a stare, desperately searching for words of confirmation.

Facing their skeptical glances, Zhurmak gave an awkward smile, saying, “Rest assured! I certainly wouldn’t indulge the fancy time to tease with you lot. Were destiny itself to grant the favor, on our side could arise another Dou Emperor!”

“Can you clarify matters more specifically?” the trembling request came as Guyuan gripped with anticipation.

Gradually raising his head, Zhurmak’s gaze focused on the Unique Flame Plaza retrieved from the Ancestral Emperor’s Vault.

He stood silently for a while before continuing, “In fact, even the Emperor-grade Initial Pill ranks but second within the ancient Ancestral Vault.”

Understanding flickered in Xiao Yan’s expression. Pointing toward the hovering Unique Fire Court suspended over their heads, he deduced quietly, “So elder… were you referring to…that thing?.”

“What else do you think would merit dragging that thing out through the exertion I did?” scoffed Zhurmak, before he waved his sleeve; the space warped suddenly. As their surroundings blurred momentarily they found themselves transferred directly before a huge Unique Flame altar.

Xiao Yan glanced across the flaming pillars flanking the altar, but no hinting energy vibration could he capture. As he scrutinized with focus the immense colossal statue above him came into view steadily.

“What strangeness resides here?” Nearby, Lei Ying inquired when no anomalies struck his attention after several moments’ careful perusal.

Zhumark was motionless hands behind him, glancing upward, eyes filled with complex emotions, fixing upon that lofty Ancestor Emperor stone sculpture.

“You all understand of Tushe Ancient Emperor’s birth or status?”

A quiet ripple spread as listeners exchanged glances, none answering immediately for Tushe had lived long, far away from their time. Knowledge came merely from ancient texts, but any notion about his origins or lineage were utterly missing.

“Truth be told,” intoned Guyuan thoughtfully while stirring recapture from ancient records buried ages ago in history,“the Ancient Tushe Emperor was cloaked in great mystery. None ever knew his true genesis. Back during those days of fierce struggle across the continents’ fiercest, as countless champions pushed unrelentlessly toward Dou Emperors’ lofty threshold, none had succeeded until Tushe emerged into renown despite being virtually unrecognized.”

“A tale has told,” furthered Zhurmak, “the event his transformation to Dou Emperor was heralded by two twin suns across skies; earth crumbled cataclysmically, an infinite fiery sea cascaded, enveloping almost half of the Dou Qi continent, shaking the entire world’s mighty ones.

“After these earth-revolutional happenings around his transformation, Tushe vanished again. By all rationality, with his attainment, the very lineage tied to Tushe’s birth ought similarly to ignite in power, a meteoric ascension to unfathomably powerful levels occurring within an instant for blood-related kin.

“In fact it’s said that the first generation Dou Empire’s lineage gains maximum inheritance benefit. Hence, should new descendants of the primal ancients reemerge, their impact upon Dou Qi Land would resound mightily… and yet none of such has happened.”

“That would infer then: Tushe Ancient Emperor had no actual kin? Possibly not any blood-bonded successors across all?” Xiao Yan frowned slightly. Across the Dou Empire’s land, the transmission through royal lineage was revered, particularly for such a transcendent master, whose essence must otherwise continue. Hence, why is he existing utterly solitary?

“Well…perhaps” admitted Guyuan. “Though possibly it was also simply undiscovered.”

Meeting Zhurmak now with his glance, he asked, “Have I misinterpreted?”

“Essentially the account stands accurate.” Folded hands behind his back again, Zhurmak locked his gaze upon titanic effigy. But just as abruptly, the discourse pivoted. He resumed, “There’s the Twenty-Three Flares ranked as paramount infernos on the Flaming Record. Yet ever you questioned of that First Rank’s precise identity—any name recorded?”

Xiao Yan trembled slightly. About the mysterious foremost Unique Fire on Flaming Index—even to himself, a fire connoisseur, the details had remained absent; indeed, for eons such a first flame bore neither identity nor label. The entire twenty-three listings had held space; yet strangely, atop that pinnacle existed merely a vacuum.

Fluctuation stirred amidst the gathered ones, instinct whispering many an alchemical expert, of some entity hidden there beyond Voidblaze’s grasp—but its nature always obscured. Like a myth itself, this mysterious first essence remained elusive, ever-veiled.

“Senior,” Xiao Yan ventured then, “does such information exist? Of identifying First Flame?”

But an odd smirk crept then on Zhurmak’s features replying solemnly: “And yet… truly exists such Flame of Primacy?!” That assertion staggered everyone.

Frowning at Zhurmak’s contradiction, many wished retorts but realized suddenly their own abject ignorance toward this claimed First’s actual being. Could such so-called Primary fire exist mere rumor all this time?

“To clarify all,” Zhurmak elaborated, observing their turbulent minds stir,“all elements birth with innate essence, and Flames hold equal spirit. I’ve heard tell once—there birthed a Unique Flame. Over a millennium coalescence, then another ten to develop willful instinctive sentience—its very evolution, rare, almost aberrant.

“As is common knowledge, post-formation most Unique Fires rarely abandoned nativity places—yet this was different.” Continuing slowly Zhurmak noted, “This very kind, possessing sapience, traveled via molten rock subterraneously, wandering eons under earth’s surface feeding primarily on fire.”

“And its prey—all once registered on the Record—twenty one kinds precisely—were entirely devoured through its hunger.”

“Yet the art of such devouring seemed unique only to that known, Voidblaze devouring flame,” mused Yan perplexed.

“Even in this unique realm we observe a law akin to kingdoms of man; one may possess inherited dominance only still susceptible to usurp, as among Unique Flames mutual consumption remains an embedded instinct,” Zhurmak said softly.

“Still lies another distinct quality—it hunted intelligently: survival instincts leading to the weaker targets first,” He added, “But even across millennia effort, upon assimilation of twenty others, even Voidflame and other sovereigns—beasts by birth meant to dominate—were left prostrate, conceding its supremacy!”

Xiao Yan caught his breath at the scope now visualized. Across天地, locating a Unique Flame proves rare enough. What effort or audacity could one need to assimilate twenty flames?

If translated now into human capability—the feat was staggering even for modern Xiao Yan.

“So Zhurmak Elder indicates, therefore—there remains no absolute top position name within Unique Flame rankings? That top place merely earned whoever emerges victorious from fierce fire wars to rise supreme?”

A slow nod met such deduction: “Indeed—though the path poses perilous probability. Combustion of competing flames within may provoke catastrophic explosion upon digestion clashes.”

“To qualify for that title, only a success over digestions spanning twenty others can establish rightful occupancy for the Unique Flaming Prime.”

Xiao Yan nodded again, thoughtfully. Already perilous enough even when manipulating ‘Pyrolution’ art in his own attempts at fire assimilation, let alone a fire dependent purely on its natural instinctive methods—the potential destruction of consumption failures exponentially increased risk. Yet such flame still managed twenty, surviving them? A truly unthinkable miracle that would scarcely have multiple instances recorded across continental history.

“Truly astounding! The top tier’s actual birth myth remains completely outside my expectations all along.” Collectively exhaled astonishment ran throughout—new revelations of their comprehension unveiling.

The legendary prime was not eternal but the result of twenty-one conceptions fusing into the ultimate fire being.

“That fire, following success,” resumed Zhurmak suddenly solemn, “gave birth itself with designation Emperor Flame; and it would take another thousand centuries for mastery over this self-styled monik before eruption and liberation into existence.

“Thereafter, when it emerged and reshaped the world with it, men called upon it another appellation.”

Pausing momentarily, he released a drawn-out breath, peering upward to fixate upon that colossal ancient deity statue, lips silently murmuring the final revelation—uttered, however, as peals of thunder, shattering reality and paralyzing all eardrums:

“In their day,” the whisper boomed like thunder, “they called him… TUSHE ANCIENT EMPEROR.”
