Chapter 259: The Pool of All Beings (Part II)

Qian Ye slashed the six-armed giant a few more times, each time only causing minor, inconsequential wounds. He was at a loss, knowing he had no means to deal with this behemoth.

There was a method, of course. For example, aiming Zangxin at its eyes might finish it off. But doing so would plunge Qian Ye into the beast tide, and possibly draw out even more formidable aquatic beasts. With plenty of room to maneuver, he naturally preferred not to take such a risk.

Qian Ye glanced at the endless expanse of the Pool of Life, sensing no signs of hidden aquatic monsters beneath the surface. However, the unusual ripples suggested that the waters of the Pool of Life likely had the effect of masking presence.

The six-armed giant now held the upper hand, making the water beast wail in pain. Three of its stone-pillar-like claws were already broken, and its tail hammer’s strikes grew weaker.

Seeing the situation turn for the worse, Qian Ye decisively made a dash for the Pool of Life. The six-armed giant, seeing this, let out a furious roar, kicked away the water beast, and gave chase.

By now, Qian Ye knew something was amiss. If it came to inflicting harm or threat, the water beast posed a greater danger than Qian Ye. Yet the six-armed giant, instead of finishing off the water beast, chose to pursue Qian Ye. It seemed to be acting on some command. But what kind of entity could command a six-armed giant?

Qian Ye ran straight towards the Pool of Life, quickly leaving the gathering of beasts behind. Between the pool and the area where the beasts gathered lay a vast, empty space several thousand meters wide. No creatures lingered there, and any that did, soon left.

Qian Ye didn’t care about the peculiarity of that area at this point. Even if there were dangers, they were a double-edged sword. In the eyes of these ferocious beasts, the six-armed giant was undoubtedly a higher-priority target, as evidenced by the water beast’s behavior. Throughout the entire fight, it hadn’t even glanced at Qian Ye.

In a blink, Qian Ye had crossed the vast expanse, less than a kilometer from the Pool of Life. As if he’d crossed an invisible boundary, a sudden boom reverberated in his mind, and an uncontrollable desire surged within him like a raging fire.

This wave of desire was almost as intense as drinking white fruit wine. Despite his firm will, Qian Ye’s bloodline made resisting primal instincts difficult. The sudden impact left him disoriented. In a flash, he regained his senses, realizing he had subconsciously turned towards a female beast in the gathering.

He immediately turned back, rushing towards the water. When he crossed the line again, he was once more hit by the surge of desire, directing him back towards the gathering of beasts.

After several attempts, Qian Ye roughly understood the layout of the invisible boundary and was somewhat prepared for the desire’s impact. Although he still fell under its control, he could sense a strange vertical eye opening deep in the water, followed by a surge of desire.

Clearly, the Pool of Life held secrets beneath its waters. Once Qian Ye mapped out the invisible boundary, he began to run along it. The vertical eye continued to appear and disappear, but it no longer released any desire waves. Instead, its attention turned to the six-armed giant chasing Qian Ye.

The six-armed giant stumbled, nearly falling. Its eyes flared with fury, roaring at the water and swinging its weapons. However, it only wielded two of its six arms, leaving the other four empty, diminishing its imposing presence.

The water began to churn, creating foam, as a massive form shifted beneath. From the water’s movement, it was clear the creature was hundreds of meters long, almost reaching the scale of a void behemoth. Yet, such a massive body was unlikely to come ashore.

The two titans, one in the water and one on land, exchanged mental pulses, seemingly communicating. The six-armed giant roared angrily and continued its pursuit of Qian Ye, but it clearly held back, refraining from attacking the interfering beasts.

Qian Ye dashed out of the plain and plunged into a dense forest. The forest by the Pool of Life was unique, with towering trees over a hundred meters tall, their canopies thick and lush. Vines grew abundantly, and the underbrush was filled with thorny bushes and tall grass. The forest thrummed with life.

As Qian Ye entered the forest, a swarm of mosquito-like insects took flight. These winged creatures, resembling both mosquitoes and bees, had sharp beaks and venomous stingers, each as large as a fist, menacing and dangerous.

Following the insects, a rustling sound came from the ground, and palm-sized ants crawled out, their mandibles flashing with a metallic sheen. They emitted a faint, bitter smell, suggesting toxicity.

In moments, Qian Ye had stirred up several insect swarms. For an outsider, this dense forest was a death trap, and ordinary beasts would be no match for these insect hordes. For Qian Ye, though, they were merely a nuisance, not a barrier.

His body flickered with blood flame, sweeping through the insects within ten meters. The moment the insects sensed the dark golden blood aura, they scattered. The ground-dwelling ants fared better, with only a few being scorched. The flying mosquitoes, however, lost their wings and plummeted, landing among the ants.

The two types of insects immediately clashed, the flightless mosquitoes struggling fiercely, using their beaks and stingers to attack. But the ants’ numbers and powerful mandibles quickly overwhelmed them, cutting them in half. In no time, the fallen mosquitoes were all devoured.

Qian Ye paid no mind to the battle, quickening his pace deeper into the forest.

The six-armed giant also reached the edge of the forest, hesitating for the first time. Tentatively, it stepped in.

As soon as its foot touched the ground, swarms of black insects descended, covering its leg, turning the pale green skin black. The layers of insects crawling and squirming were a sight to behold. Then, with a whoosh, giant palms descended from the sky, slapping the leg. Each slap left a mass of insect paste, killing countless insects.

The sound of slapping continued, and the four empty hands of the six-armed giant smacked repeatedly, eventually clearing most of the insects. It rubbed the remaining paste, flinging it to the ground like rain.

Beneath the pale green skin, the leg was pockmarked with holes. The forest insects were fierce, able to bore into the six-armed giant’s skin, but its hide was too thick and resilient, and after much effort, they barely managed to pierce it.

The once-thick insect swarms were now reduced to a few clusters, one of which circled the giant before heading for its face. But the six-armed giant, eyes flashing with fury, opened its mouth and inhaled, creating a whirlwind that sucked in the insect cluster, swallowing it whole.

Frightened, the remaining insect swarms scattered. The intelligent snakes and beasts in the forest dared not approach the six-armed giant either.

Having rid itself of the harassment, the six-armed giant took a large step forward, chasing Qian Ye. A loud crash echoed as it collided with a massive tree.

The ancient tree, over a hundred meters tall with a trunk several meters wide, was snapped in half by the impact, showcasing the immense force. Dazed and nearly falling, the six-armed giant regained its balance after a moment.

Still focused on its main target, the six-armed giant locked onto Qian Ye and charged forward. Another crash followed as another ancient tree toppled. Tree after tree fell, and the forest was in chaos.

The six-armed giant was now covered in wounds, with various insects clinging to its open cuts, their bodies writhing. The ancient trees, stronger than steel, left deep lacerations even on the giant’s tough hide. Collapsing trees exacted a toll, and one of its arms now hung limply at its side, immobile.

In the six-armed giant’s perception, Qian Ye was still moving rapidly, quickly out of reach. Enraged, it uprooted a massive tree and smashed it, destroying a section of the forest, but it still felt unsatisfied.

The Pool of Life then erupted, revealing a huge blowhole, spewing a high water jet and emitting a rough, harsh mental wave, bearing down on the six-armed giant.

Roaring in response, the six-armed giant finally dropped the tree, ceasing its destruction. It glanced in the direction Qian Ye had fled, then turned and left the forest, abandoning the pursuit.

Deep in the forest, Qian Ye stood atop an ancient tree, watching the giant’s departure, relieved. Yet, surveying his surroundings, his expression turned grave.

The forest, while vast, was limited. It spanned hundreds of kilometers, bounded by the Pool of Life on one side and a vast, flat grassland on the other. It was in that flat terrain that Qian Ye had been pursued by the six-armed giant.

Indeed, the six-armed giant hadn’t left far. It stood on the grassland, seemingly waiting for something.
