The situation grew more intricate and delicate. The relationship between the bloodline race and the demon spawn was far from amicable; their enmity surpassed that of the human race, especially when it came to certain families and individuals. Qian Ye adjusted his stance, deciding to temporarily stay out of it and observe.
Edward’s face darkened. Since Anwen appeared, his expression had not been pleasant. He stared at Anwen, his eyes brimming with a purple-black aura, and slowly said, “Are you trying to add another stroke to the hatred between our two races at this time?”
Anwen suddenly smiled and said, “Although I detest the bloodline race, I am not like those in my clan who seek opportunities to kill them. If the conditions are right, I would not refuse cooperation. Of course, it’s only occasionally, and the conditions must be right.”
Edward remained silent. Dusk interjected, “What conditions do you want?”
“Simple,” Anwen said. “I am curious about how the bloodline race uses the Well of the Stars. So, I want three samples of that so-called prismatic blood column.”
“Three?!” Edward’s face immediately changed, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
Dusk, however, did not lose her composure. She asked sternly, “Three is not impossible, but, Your Highness Anwen, do you plan to take them just like that?”
“Or what?”
“If you have no sincerity, then there is no point in continuing this discussion.” Dusk’s attitude was firm. But as soon as she spoke, the pain in her waist intensified. She glanced at Bai Kongzhao, looking uncertain and startled.
Anwen finally said, “Then I will take two, and I can offer some compensation.”
Dusk and Edward exchanged a glance and said, “That is feasible. As for the compensation…”
Qian Ye’s eyebrows twitched slightly. If these two sides reached an agreement, it would be very troublesome. They would instantly become the disadvantaged party.
Edward suddenly pointed at Qian Ye and said, “The compensation is simple. We join forces and eliminate these humans first!”
Qian Ye raised his eyebrow, coldly eyeing Edward and Anwen. He took a steady step to the side. After several position changes, he now occupied a favorable spot, forming a triangular stand-off with the bloodline race and the demon spawn, and inadvertently separating Ji Tianqing, Li Kuanglan, and the others.
Edward sneered, “You’re not running? What, do you still think you can resist?”
Anwen remained noncommittal, resting his chin on his hand, watching Qian Ye with interest, as if waiting to see how he would respond.
Qian Ye’s gaze swept over the group of bloodline beings, then to Anwen and Bai Kongzhao. When his eyes passed over Bai Kongzhao, he subtly frowned. The greatest variable in the field was perhaps this girl. No one knew what she was thinking, or maybe she wasn’t thinking at all, just acting on instinct. But in any case, ignoring her would be a fatal disaster.
Qian Ye turned and said to Ji Tianqing and Li Kuanglan, “You go first.”
“What about you?”
“I’ll stay and play with them slowly.”
Li Kuanglan hesitated, but Ji Tianqing pulled her and they quickly moved away.
Several bloodline barons tried to bypass Qian Ye to chase the two women. Qian Ye snorted, his voice cold, “Who dares to pass through me?”
The bloodline race immediately halted. They were all aware of Qian Ye’s combat power, and someone who could force Edward to retreat was not someone they could stop. Without the intervention of the top powerhouses, their action would be tantamount to suicide.
Edward stepped forward, his tone dark, “I dare. What will you do about it?”
By now, the two women had moved far away, and Qian Ye let out a sigh of relief. He said indifferently, “Nothing much. Let’s see who dares to enter the Well of the Stars as long as I don’t leave. Your Highness, you’d better pray for good luck and constant vigilance. Also, remember not to sleep, or you might get a bullet from me at any moment.”
Edward’s face was grim as water. Even if he and Anwen could set aside their differences and join forces, defeating Qian Ye would be easy, but killing him would be another matter. If Qian Ye’s ghost lingered, it would indeed be a nuisance. Especially with Anwen above the well and Qian Ye watching like a tiger, he truly did not dare to enter the Well of the Stars.
Anwen calmly observed the situation, as if none of it concerned him.
Qian Ye, having spoken, closed his eyes, apparently beginning to rest and meditate, silently facing off against his opponents. For a moment, the situation was at a stalemate.
Just then, a faint presence swept across the area. Everyone was highly perceptive and immediately sensed it, looking in the direction of the presence. The person, not expecting so many strong individuals to gather in such a place, had inadvertently revealed himself.
He decided to stop hiding and walked out of the forest, stopping a distance away, no longer approaching. Seeing the arrival, the reactions of the various strong figures varied.
“Aiden.” Qian Ye’s expression was grave. There was no doubt he had gained another formidable opponent, one worthy of using the Gun of Origin.
Seeing Qian Ye, Aiden’s expression was complex, unreadable as to whether he was happy or resentful. But when he looked at the bloodline race, his face darkened, the murderous aura clearly expressing his attitude.
Edward’s expression was grave, with a faint trace of purple-black aura surfacing. Aiden from the Abyss of Darkness had grown too fast, and the once nameless nobody now posed a threat to him. Originally, he and Anwen were in a deadlock, but with Aiden, it had shifted to a disadvantage. The only balancing factor was now Qian Ye.
Thinking this, Edward couldn’t help but regret showing his hostility too early. Now, he was in a difficult position, unsure how to proceed.
Qian Ye remained silent, standing there, already showing his stance through action. As long as he was there, no one would use the Well of the Stars in peace.
Dusk then said, “Your Highness Anwen, does our previous agreement still stand?”
Anwen smiled, “Of course, why wouldn’t it? However, what Aiden wants to do has nothing to do with me, and I cannot control him.”
Dusk turned to Aiden, “Lord Aiden, are you planning to betray the Eternal Night Council and stand with the humans?”
Aiden sneered, “You know very well such rhetoric is meaningless. I don’t mind truly joining forces with the humans and slaughtering all of you first. Once you’re all corpses, no one will say a word about what I do next.”
Dusk was taken aback by Aiden’s bluntness and lack of room for negotiation, completely unlike Anwen’s subtlety. Known for her eloquence and ability to find breakthroughs in negotiations, she found herself at a loss with Aiden’s approach.
She forced a smile and turned to Anwen. Anwen immediately waved his hand, “Don’t look at me. I really can’t control him.”
Edward felt even more frustrated. Anwen was tolerable, and Qian Ye’s strength was known. Now, Aiden also showed no respect. But to fight, the timing seemed off. The only solution to this uncertain situation was to leave. He believed these people would not stay at the Well of the Stars for long, and they could return later if needed.
He snorted, flicking his robe sleeve, preparing to leave.
Anwen did not stop him but said, “One sample of the prismatic blood column must be left for me to study.”
“Do you think I will give it to you?” Edward’s anger was hard to contain.
Anwen looked at Aiden and said, “This will need your help.”
“Naturally,” Aiden agreed readily.
The situation had its twists and turns, and now Qian Ye became a mere spectator, observing with a cold eye, waiting for developments.
Edward, however, sneered, producing a crimson crystal in his hand, which he shattered with a flick. A sound imperceptible to ordinary people spread far and wide. In a moment, three more bloodline dukes appeared behind him.
Though the bloodline dukes were not as powerful as Aiden, they were only slightly weaker. Together, they could drive Aiden into a desperate retreat. This was Edward’s trump card, which he would not easily reveal, but today he was too frustrated, even Aiden dared to step on his head.
Among the younger generation, the bloodline race’s top combatants might not match the demon spawn, but they had more capable strong figures. After all, the demon spawn population was simply too small.
With this, the balance was restored, and the bloodline race’s strength even had a slight edge.
The situation returned to a stalemate, but it did not last long.
A faint sound echoed from the forest, as if something was rapidly approaching. Its speed was so fast that both the bloodline race and the demon spawn paled. Even they could not run this fast in the forest. Though its stealth was slightly inferior, its astonishing speed compensated for this flaw.
In an instant, a huge shadow leaped out of the forest, soaring high into the air, heading for the Well of the Stars.
It was a colossal spider demon, with deep black skin like the night sky, and the tips of its legs gleamed with a faint golden hue. It moved with a speed like lightning and wind. From its appearance alone, it was evident that it was extraordinary.
Upon seeing it, Edward, Aiden, and Anwen all shouted, “Rorle!”
Hearing the calls, Rorle looked down and noticed the crowd, instantly alarmed. But it was moving too fast, and in a blink, it was almost above the group. If it passed over them, it would be exposing its vulnerable underbelly, and someone might be tempted to strike.
Rorle’s legs skittered, leaving trails of golden light, and in an instant, wove a golden web in the air. Stepping on this virtual web, it froze in place, then with a snap, it retreated like a cannonball, landing at the edge of the forest.
Qian Ye’s gaze sharpened, watching Rorle’s legs. At the tip of its blade-like legs, it stood on a faint golden thread. It was not stepping on the ground but on the thread, which was not a physical object but made of origin power.
The skill displayed in weaving the web in the air and flying backward showed exceptional aerial mobility. Fighting this creature would be a headache, even if one could defeat it, holding it back would be exceedingly difficult.
Rorle’s massive body hovered about a meter above the ground, floating slightly. It glared at the group, its face growing grimmer with each look. These people were the elite of the younger generation of the demon spawn and the bloodline race, none of them easy to provoke.
Anwen greeted first, “Rorle, why are you here? Didn’t you just finish molting?”
Rorle chuckled, “I recovered quickly and came to check things out. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have met you all, hahaha!”
Aiden frowned slightly, while Anwen smiled and said, “It’s good that you’re here. The spider demons’ strength was a bit weak this time. With you, we can explore more places. But why did you come here first?”
