Chapter 154: The World of Gravity

As Qian Ye’s vision pierced through, he felt as though he had passed through a thin membrane, entering a completely unfamiliar world. Around him, bizarre and dazzling colors constantly appeared and disappeared, leaving behind more splendid light bands.

In this realm, there was no sense of direction or the passage of time. All his perceptions were without anchor, making it unbearably disorienting. With Qian Ye’s physique, he instantly felt dizzy and nauseous. However, at that moment, he could neither feel his surroundings nor his own body; even if he wanted to vomit, he couldn’t.

Qian Ye struggled to discern everything around him, thankfully, the True Sight Eye was still functional. Under the true vision, the shifting of light and shadows slowed down significantly, revealing something within the light bands.

With a thought, Qian Ye realized he could move according to his will. When a light band approached, he consciously tried to keep his distance. Indeed, the light band slowed, and Qian Ye finally saw a landmass slowly rotating within.

This continent was quite large, comparable to Qin Lu. It was lush with greenery, clearly a place where life could flourish. Yet, no matter how hard Qian Ye tried, he couldn’t recall any of the twenty-seven continents having this shape.

The uppermost continents seemed to be forbidden zones, accessible only to a few top-tier powerhouses. No records existed in the Empire about these lands, or perhaps Qian Ye’s clearance level was not high enough to access such secrets.

As he pondered, the light band quickly passed by, vanishing into the bewildering and chaotic depths.

Another light cluster emerged, revealing yet another unfamiliar continent at its center.

In this strange world, Qian Ye encountered many unprecedented sights. He saw seven or eight unfamiliar continents, unimaginably colossal mountains, and enormous beasts that could cover half a continent when crouching. There were also several gigantic, indeterminate entities that seemed to drift in the void, as well as faint underwater images. Even in the deepest parts of the ocean, countless life forms thrived, shattering Qian Ye’s previous understanding.

Yet, Qian Ye didn’t know what he was seeing, let alone whether it was real or not. This drifting seemed endless, both cyclical and non-cyclical. Here, time and space were utterly chaotic, perhaps they didn’t exist at all.

In the midst of this aimless drifting, Qian Ye inadvertently saw an image that startled him!

It was a continent, very blurry, with unclear details. The land was crescent-shaped, with numerous islands scattered on the other side, numbering around a dozen.

Qian Ye had never seen this continent before. As he was about to observe it closely, he noticed a small island in the corner that seemed familiar. Focusing his gaze, he was shocked to find that this island bore a striking resemblance to a continent he had seen earlier!

Suppressing his astonishment, he continued to observe.

The image, seemingly influenced by Qian Ye’s consciousness, moved extremely slowly, allowing him to scrutinize it thoroughly.

After repeated observation, Qian Ye confirmed that this island was indeed the one he had seen in a previous image. In that image, it was not a small island but a continent, larger than the four main continents of the Empire. Now, it appeared as a small island not because it had shrunk, but because the adjacent continent was enormous!

By proportion, this continent was far larger than the combined twenty-seven floating continents of the Evernight World. Moreover, this image seemed incomplete, showing only a part of this vast world. Qian Ye was astounded by its vastness.

Such a colossal world, yet the entire Evernight World had no records of it. It was truly peculiar.

Qian Ye deduced that this place was likely not within the Great Maelstrom. If it were, the numerous explorations over the years would have surely uncovered it. But Qian Ye felt that these images were not mere illusions but likely real, just unknown for some reason.

If they were just his imagination, they wouldn’t be so complete and coherent, with corresponding details.

Could there be endless new worlds beyond the void? Were these new worlds what attracted generations of supreme powerhouses to explore the void?

At that moment, it felt as if a door had opened a crack, allowing Qian Ye a glimpse of the unparalleled scenery known only to those who stood at the pinnacle of the world.

As his mind was reeling, Qian Ye suddenly felt excruciating pain, and the sensation of his body returned. Every inch of his skin seemed to be burning and tearing, and his instinct for danger reawakened.

Fortunately, the ancient bloodline granted him a powerful physique. Even when he lost control of his body, his blood core continued to function, sending the golden-burning blood to heal unknown wounds. As long as his vital blood did not run out, his life was not in immediate danger.

Once he regained his bodily senses, the world transformed again. The strange visions receded like a tide, and the world returned to its normal state, with dimensions, directions, and visible objects.

In an instant, Qian Ye found himself hovering in mid-air, above a vast expanse of water, with a shore nearby and a dense forest on the land.

Before he could react, he plummeted into the water, sinking rapidly.

The water here seemed different from the Empire and the Evernight World, with surprisingly little buoyancy. Fortunately, the water wasn’t deep, and its light green color allowed for good visibility. Even without the true vision, Qian Ye could see the bottom. He decided to stop swimming, instead holding his breath and walking along the bottom. Soon, his head emerged above the surface.

Qian Ye shook the water from his hair, took a few breaths, and stepped ashore. Looking back, he saw a large lake, its waters stretching endlessly. If the water weren’t salty, it would be hard to tell if it was a lake or a sea.

Qian Ye turned and observed the forest.

The forest had a familiar yet foreign feeling. Towering ancient trees blocked the sky, casting dense shadows. The air was chilly and damp, and faint, unknown sounds echoed from the depths. The strangeness lay in the fact that none of the trees were recognizable.

During his training with the Red Scorpions, the unique characteristics and environments of various continents were essential knowledge. Qian Ye knew most common tree species, but here, he could not identify a single one, which was unusual.

Qian Ye walked towards the forest, intending to explore the edge. As he took a step, he felt weak and heavy, leaving a deep footprint on the ground.

The lakeshore was not sand but hard stone. Normally, Qian Ye would need to exert significant force to leave a footprint on rock, but here, a simple step left a mark, making it quite strange.

Lost in thought, Qian Ye touched the necklace around his neck and drew out the East Peak.

As the East Peak appeared, Qian Ye felt a sudden weight in his hand, almost unable to hold it. He quickly added more force, managing to lift it. At this moment, the East Peak weighed more than a thousand catties, probably ten tons.

Qian Ye now confirmed that this was indeed a new world, with the most prominent feature being a much greater gravity than the Empire and the Evernight World, at least several times greater. Qian Ye’s robust body only felt slightly uncomfortable. If it were a normal person, they would likely collapse under the gravity, suffering severe injuries.

Wielding the East Peak, Qian Ye adapted to the new environment, waiting until he felt comfortable with the sword. He then sheathed it, lost in thought.

This was most likely the Great Maelstrom, but Song Zining had never mentioned such extreme gravity. The Empire had explored the Great Maelstrom multiple times and must have detailed records. With Song Zining’s status and resources, it was unlikely he didn’t have access to such information. The fact that he hadn’t told Qian Ye meant he didn’t know either.

According to the Empire’s records, the explored regions of the Great Maelstrom differed from the Evernight World but not to this extent. The gravity was nowhere near ten times greater.

Qian Ye realized he might have arrived in an unexplored region of the Great Maelstrom.

This was both good and bad. The good was that the unexplored areas meant untapped resources. The bad was the increased risks. In the Great Maelstrom, many dangers were fatal even to geniuses from both sides. The further from the portal, the more dangerous it became.

Dangers were varied: powerful beasts, tiny but deadly insects, toxic plants, and some flora that could be toxic at times.

Qian Ye now faced more dangers, not only the gravity but also the challenge of finding a way back.

Suddenly, Qian Ye felt nauseous, wanting to vomit. This was not normal. Luckily, Qian Ye’s bodily awareness and control were far beyond average. A thorough self-examination revealed the problem: gravity.

Qian Ye had Golden Blood, making his flesh and bones extremely strong, but his internal organs were still vulnerable. Under the intense gravity, they were strained, causing minor injuries.

However, the ancient bloodline’s regenerative and adaptive abilities were unparalleled in the Evernight World. The minor injuries began to heal, and the initial strengthening started. Although this was the lowest level of adaptation, it greatly helped Qian Ye adapt to the Great Maelstrom’s environment.
