Chapter 15: Combined Assault

For high-ranking warriors like Qian Ye and the werewolf leader, it was barely possible to intervene in the battle of a general. They saw determination in each other’s eyes—the determination to quickly slay their opponent and assist their own general.

The man and the wolf roared simultaneously and lunged at each other with all their might, both charging straight ahead!

With a loud boom, Qian Ye and the werewolf collided without any fancy moves, then staggered apart. Qian Ye turned to look at his left shoulder, frowning. His shoulder and chest armor were completely deformed, bitten through by the werewolf leader, and beneath the broken armor, his flesh was mangled, nearly torn off in chunks.

The werewolf leader didn’t fare much better; its mouth was full of blood, and several of its sharp teeth were broken. Additionally, there was a thin line of blood on its chest, a wound left by the Shining Light Fang.

The werewolf leader lowered its head to examine the wound, confusion in its eyes. However, a deep, uncontrollable fear welled up within it. Such a small wound, why did it feel as if power was dripping into the void?

This feeling, this feeling… It suddenly remembered what this feeling was!

Years ago, during a conflict with a vampire clan, it had been stabbed by a vampire lord. The wound from that thin, needle-like rapier was so small it could be ignored, but in the next moment, the seemingly harmless small wound erupted like a volcano, instantly transforming into a massive, almost fatal injury!

Vampires loved to play such tricks! The memory incited rage in the werewolf’s heart. With a howl, it once again summoned the dark force, but at that moment, the subtle feeling of power loss magnified a thousandfold, like a volcanic eruption. A geyser of blood spurted from the thin wound on the werewolf leader, shooting several meters away.

Qian Ye, who had been prepared, leaped to the side, and the massive body of the werewolf leader crashed to the ground behind him.

Qian Ye turned to inspect the result of the battle and saw a black war hammer on the back of the werewolf leader. He was moved and picked up the hammer, weighing it in his hand. The war hammer was entirely in the traditional style of the werewolves, heavy and rugged, but the material and the force arrays were impeccable.

This was a third-level melee weapon, not comparable in power to the Shining Light Fang, but it was more suitable for dealing with large, heavily armored opponents, such as Bo La Mu Si.

Qian Ye easily lifted the heavy, over-hundred-kilogram war hammer, satisfied with its feel, and turned to run towards the outskirts of the town.

The battle lines on both sides had fully unfolded. The expeditionary army made no effort to keep the dark forces outside the town walls. After just two charges, the dark warriors almost all rushed into the Black Mud Town.

However, the dark warriors immediately found themselves surrounded, with expeditionary soldiers on all sides. The entire town had been transformed into a massive military fortress, with every wall being a sturdy fortification, every building capable of firing bullets or even force projectiles, and sharp blades protruding from under every roof.

In the town, the dense ruins still posed a significant obstacle for the bulky spider demons, forcing them to exert more effort navigating the ruins than fighting the expeditionary army. Everywhere, one could see the massive bodies of the spider demons getting stuck, and swarms of expeditionary soldiers emerging from various locations to launch frenzied attacks.

Among the expeditionary army, there were also a group of soldiers dressed in ordinary military uniforms without rank insignia. They were all above level five, and their experience in fighting werewolves and spider demons was evident from their combat techniques. Mixed among the regular soldiers, they worked in groups of three or four, targeting high-level warriors above level four, often dispatching a powerful werewolf in just a few moves.

These people were Wei Bai Nian’s personal guard. Although only a few dozen in number, their impact on the current battlefield was significant.

Qian Ye cut a straight path through the fierce battlefield, heading towards the direction where Bo La Mu Si and Wei Bai Nian were locked in a desperate battle. Outside the town, a large area had been cleared by force explosions, and Bo La Mu Si and Wei Bai Nian were engaged in a deadly struggle, with blinding white light bursting from the battlefield.

The viscount of the spider demons was large but incredibly agile, with all eight limbs serving as deadly weapons. A human’s fragile body would be as good as sliced by a blade if struck. In his left hand, he held a new force gun, while in his right was a five-meter-long halberd.

The halberd was the viscount’s primary weapon, delivering a series of straight thrusts and horizontal cuts that stirred the air around them, leaving rings of force ripples on the solid ground. Occasionally, the force gun would emit a thunderous roar, and wherever it passed, the ground would explode, creating a gaping hole, making the situation extremely perilous.

Wei Bai Nian’s upper body was mostly hidden behind a massive shield, almost entirely defensive. He circled around Bo La Mu Si, evading half of the attacks. The other half was blocked by the yellow-glowing giant shield wielded by Wei Bai Nian.

Wei Bai Nian’s method of activating the Thousand Mountains was different from Wei Po Tian. There were no constant illusions of mountains around him; the yellow light would only flash when Bo La Mu Si’s attack was about to hit, and it would disappear immediately after blocking the attack.

Bo La Mu Si’s assault was relentless, but Wei Bai Nian wasn’t without counterattacks.

As Qian Ye approached the battlefield, he saw Wei Bai Nian circling to Bo La Mu Si’s side. Suddenly, he swung the heavy shield, striking the edge, a palm-width wide, hard against one of the spider demon’s limbs. The natural armor on the spider demon’s limbs was thicker than steel, more resilient than the heavy armor on its upper body.

The strike from Wei Bai Nian’s shield produced a metallic clashing sound, and Bo La Mu Si was pushed back several meters by the full-force blow. However, the only damage to his limb was a crack in the armor.

At that moment, Bo La Mu Si countered with a force gun, seizing the instant when Wei Bai Nian’s momentum paused after the strike. Wei Bai Nian reacted quickly, already retreating, and although the spider demon’s weapon had a reach advantage, it only managed to graze him. But before Wei Bai Nian could fully switch to an offensive stance, he took the hit, not having fully activated the Thousand Mountains. He was sent flying dozens of meters, crashing to the ground and spitting out a mouthful of blood.

Bo La Mu Si roared with laughter, ignoring the cracked limb, and his massive spider body surged forward like a mountain, pouncing towards Wei Bai Nian.

Two nearby guards rushed to intercept, but the spider demon viscount had already seen their move. With a sweep of his halberd, he sent them flying. Against Bo La Mu Si’s terrifying power, ordinary human soldiers of levels seven and eight could hardly resist.

Suddenly, Bo La Mu Si felt something strange, one of his legs immobile as if stuck in quicksand. Accelerating, he lost balance, and his massive body tilted sideways. Filled with shock and anger, he looked down to see that his leg was being held by a small human.

Even by human standards, the soldier wasn’t tall or robust, appearing to Bo La Mu Si as a mere main course. Yet, the force transmitted through the leg was enormous, and the spider demon viscount not only couldn’t advance but was being dragged backward.

Startled, Bo La Mu Si’s ferocity rose. He raised another leg, ready to pierce the annoying little bug with its razor-sharp tip.

Sensing the sharp wind, Qian Ye let go, bent, and launched himself, disappearing from the spot and ramming into another leg.

A dull thud echoed as Bo La Mu Si’s raised leg missed, and intense pain shot through the other leg, causing him to lose stability and sway significantly.

Qian Ye, anticipating this, used the recoil to leap away, drew the war hammer, and with a shout, brought it down on the spider leg!

A loud crack followed as the hard shell shattered, and the black, steel-like leg snapped, slowly collapsing.

This was not because Qian Ye was stronger than Wei Bai Nian, but because the hammer strike landed exactly where Wei Bai Nian had hit earlier. The combined force of two heavy blows, both comparable to a general’s strength, caused the leg to break.

Bo La Mu Si fell into a rage, raising his force gun. The spider demon’s strength was so brutal that the force bullets exploded violently. Qian Ye was too close to the source, and if hit, the shockwave would also engulf the viscount. However, in his fury, Bo La Mu Si didn’t seem to care.

But when he looked down, the small human was gone.

After breaking the leg, Qian Ye didn’t linger, immediately dropping the cracked war hammer and running. By the time Bo La Mu Si finally spotted him, Qian Ye was already dozens of meters away.

Bo La Mu Si’s roar grew louder, and the force gun slowly aimed, its glow becoming increasingly blinding. The viscount no longer cared about precision; even if he missed, the explosion’s shockwave would sweep Qian Ye in.

Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, the sound of Eagle Strike. A force bullet, glowing with milky light, flew and hit Bo La Mu Si’s head.

As the blinding light of the force explosion dissipated, pieces of armor and half of Bo La Mu Si’s helmet flew off. The dazed spider demon viscount, whose force gun’s charge was interrupted, shook his head but seemed unharmed. He planted his halberd into the ground and began to search for the one who dared to shoot him.

Qian Ye, taking the opportunity, had already slipped into a defensive position, out of the spider demon’s sight. As he had predicted, Eagle Strike was almost ineffective against a general. This dark coalition, mainly composed of spider demons and werewolves, were highly defensive races. Unless hitting vital points like the eyes, ears, or heart, even a fourth-level force gun’s damage was unlikely to be fatal.

By now, Wei Bai Nian had recovered and quickly closed in on the still-searching spider demon viscount, striking his belly with a shield, causing him to roar in pain. Turning, he continued his battle with Wei Bai Nian. However, with one leg broken, Bo La Mu Si’s agility was greatly reduced, and Wei Bai Nian’s dodging became noticeably easier.
