“William, are you going to fight or not?” Dusk shouted.
William shrugged. “Haven’t we already fought?”
Several vampire viscounts standing nearby exchanged glances, their faces filled with disbelief. They never expected someone of William’s status to act so openly dishonest. But Dusk seemed to have something on William, allowing her to command him at will, something they couldn’t do. William held a high status among the werewolves and was gaining fame in the Evernight world. A few vampire viscounts would be dead before they knew what hit them if they offended William. He had already taken the lives of many powerful vampires.
These viscounts, not from the Munro clan, had no reason to die for Dusk. They remained silent, watching Dusk’s embarrassment with cold eyes.
Dusk’s face turned even paler, her lips losing their color, a sign of extreme anger. She suddenly put on a charming smile and said softly, “William, go and kill him.”
It was only when she didn’t threaten that she was truly threatening. There was no room for negotiation; it was an order, not a request.
To their surprise, William still didn’t comply, spreading his hands. “I can’t. You want to, you go.”
Dusk took a deep breath, sneering, “Fine! I’ll do it myself!”
“Good luck!” William actually stepped aside and started watching the show.
Getting angry before a fight was a big no-no. Dusk calmed down instantly, turning to Qian Ye with a completely calm expression. However, her calmness was shattered by Qian Ye’s words, “You are not my match.”
Dusk could no longer hold back, sneering, “Have you forgotten how I toyed with you before?”
At these words, William’s eyes lit up, staring at Qian Ye with a determined look, as if he wanted to find out the entire “toying” process.
The other vampire viscounts were indifferent. In the long life of vampires, the number of lovers could be as numerous as the stars. Although Dusk was very young, just reaching adulthood by vampire standards, it wasn’t strange for her to have a relationship with an outstanding male from another race.
Unexpectedly, Qian Ye responded, “That only shows your progress is too slow.”
Dusk’s hand trembled in anger. Her pride was her talent, and no one dared to question her in this aspect. In the entire vampire race, only Nighteye and Edward could clearly surpass her in bloodline talent, and perhaps a few others on par with her. Nighteye’s bloodline had awakened later, though.
She, Dusk, acknowledged as a genius in the vampire race and the Evernight world, was being questioned about her progress speed?
Dusk suddenly decided not to kill Qian Ye. Instead, she would capture him, grant him the first embrace, and then torment and humiliate him over the long years to vent her anger. This thought became particularly strong, almost uncontrollable.
Dusk did not rush to act but slowly unzipped her combat suit, revealing a large part of her chest. She said, word by word, “When we get back, I will give you a proper welcome, one you will never forget.”
Two long swords rang as they leapt into her hands. She then walked toward Qian Ye, her high-heeled boots making a metallic sound as they hit the ground.
But after one step, she couldn’t take a second. Qian Ye planted the Eastern Peak into the ground, holding the hilt, his gaze like water, looking at Dusk.
Dusk suddenly flashed sideways, moving several meters to avoid Qian Ye’s gaze. But Qian Ye looked again. Dusk’s face changed, and she instantly lowered her body, avoiding Qian Ye’s gaze, and thrust her swords into the ground, leaping back in a flash.
Qian Ye’s gaze fell on where Dusk had been, and not seeing her there, seemed to surprise him slightly. He then looked up, seeing Dusk now tens of meters away.
At this distance, Dusk felt extremely awkward. It was already within the range for origin power guns, but she had just drawn her swords, obviously intending to use a flashy close-range battle to teach Qian Ye a lesson. Now, without striking a single blow, how could she switch to guns? Qian Ye hadn’t moved, forcing her to jump around and retreat tens of meters with just his gaze.
In an instant, Dusk realized that even within a hundred meters, safety was not guaranteed. Qian Ye’s gaze grew deeper, looking at her again. In a moment, Dusk felt like she had fallen into an ice pit, as if caught by a natural enemy, almost unable to control herself. She screamed, leaping and changing direction in mid-air. But wherever she went, Qian Ye’s gaze followed, her speed no match for his sight.
Dusk suddenly flipped backward, retreating another tens of meters. Now, she was a hundred meters away from Qian Ye. As soon as she landed, she turned and ran, vanishing into the rolling hills in a blink.
The vampire viscounts were stunned, struggling to believe that Dusk had fled after merely being looked at by Qian Ye.
They almost couldn’t believe their eyes, but William reacted quickly, pointing at Qian Ye and saying bravely, “Come, your opponent is me.”
Qian Ye turned sharply to face William, prepared. However, William only spoke boldly but stood his ground. Facing William, Qian Ye was much more cautious than with Dusk. William didn’t move, and neither did he. With Song Zining and the others, dealing with those viscounts was more than enough.
As Qian Ye and William stood off, not fighting, the viscounts, not understanding, suddenly found themselves in a different place, engulfed by Song Zining’s domain.
Inside the domain, Zhao Yuying and Wei Potian mowed down their opponents like tigers in a flock of sheep. Song Zining then withdrew the domain, looking at William, his smile gone, focused and ready.
“Song Seven, why don’t you trap this guy in your domain, and we’ll beat the crap out of him!” Zhao Yuying fixed her fierce gaze on William.
Song Zining shook his head. “My domain can’t trap this guy.”
William glanced at the group, seemingly remembering something. “Oh, it’s dinner time. I have to go eat. The one good thing about joining the parliament’s army is the food!”
Qian Ye pointed to the fallen viscounts, saying, “There’s still one alive. Are you not taking care of them?”
William smiled brightly. “Their death or life has nothing to do with me. Anyway, it was Dusk who ran away, putting them in this situation.”
With a meaningful smile, William looked at Qian Ye.
Maybe others couldn’t see it, but William saw a faint, almost invisible line of blood extending wherever Qian Ye’s gaze went. Dusk, like avoiding a venomous snake, avoided this line, desperately evading, only to be touched by it in the end, fleeing in desperation.
Actually, she had already engaged in a major battle with Qian Ye, making William’s words of fleeing before the fight quite damning.
Seeing William disregard Dusk’s followers, Qian Ye said, “Then go back and eat. Eat plenty, and save some for me.”
William’s smile widened. “Sure, next time we meet, I’ll bring you a packed meal.”
Qian Ye immediately shook his head. “No, best if we don’t meet next time.”
“You heartless fellow,” William sighed, looking a bit lonely as he turned and left.
After he was gone, Zhao Yuying and the others finally relaxed, sweating profusely. When William was present, the pressure was overwhelming, keeping them in a tense state of readiness. If William had stayed any longer, Wei Potian and Zhao Yuying might have attacked.
Wei Potian wiped his sweat, asking, “Qian Ye, what happened? Did you really fight them?”
Qian Ye nodded gravely. “Dusk is very strong, but William is even stronger.”
Zhao Yuying snorted. “Strong, huh? How come I didn’t see it? … Oh!”
She had moved towards Qian Ye, planning to grab the little guy and interrogate him about his recent activities. But as she approached within ten meters, her foot suddenly slipped, finding no ground!
Caught off guard, Zhao Yuying fell forward. Reacting quickly, she burst with origin power, propelling herself into the air. But as the power exploded, a loud boom filled the area with dust, enveloping her. She screamed, rising above the dust cloud, her face covered in dirt.
Wiping the dust off her face, she looked around, wondering if an enemy was attacking. But what she saw left her stunned.
A large pit, meters deep, appeared out of nowhere, centered on Qian Ye. The pit, with a diameter of dozens of meters, had only a small area around Qian Ye’s feet intact, looking like a stone platform in the middle.
This was a mountainous region, with solid rock underfoot. Just a moment ago, they had passed through here, knowing it was solid. How could such a pit appear suddenly?
Zhao Yuying quickly understood, asking, “This is from your fight with William?”
Qian Ye nodded. “Yes. Unfortunately, Dusk got away.” He sounded regretful.
Zhao Yuying was speechless. The battle between Qian Ye and William, seemingly quiet, had actually pulverized a large area of rock. Just how powerful were these two guys?
Her smile becoming somewhat forced, she said, “Maybe I can’t even beat you now.”
“Why, you’re much stronger than them,” Qian Ye laughed.
“Nonsense! I know my limits,” Zhao Yuying huffed. But her face, beaming with joy, revealed her true feelings.
“Let’s go and pick up Potian’s people. We can talk more once we’re back,” Qian Ye said. Knowing time was short, they quickly cleaned the battlefield and left with Qian Ye.
In a distant valley, a temporary dark race camp had been set up, with various powerful figures coming and going.
Returning to the camp, Dusk locked herself in her room, ignoring everyone, and could be heard throwing things inside. At this moment, someone knocked on the door.
“Get lost, don’t disturb me!” Dusk shouted, not opening the door.
The person outside didn’t leave but said, “Mistress Dusk, the marquess requests your immediate presence. Someone has accused you of fleeing without fighting, leaving your capable subordinates to die needlessly.”
Dusk yanked open the door, furious. “Who? I’ll kill him!”
“Well… it’s Lord William.”
